Rich, did you ever land at Tri-City in San Bernardino? Pinky and I became close friends when I was a controller at Ontario TRACON, '75-'77. I flew to LAX with her one day when she took a customer and dropped him at the old commuter terminal off taxiway 47. I flew us home in the right seat of her A-36. The next day, she and I flew to Catalina for lunch and I flew us home, again right seat in her A-36, so I had two landings at SBT in my flying career. She was a grand lady and a legendary aviatrix. She also gave me the ultimate compliment when she called me a..., "Natural Pilot." Thanks for stirring those memories of what once was.......... Carl

Wow! Really nice 182 Rich! I wish I could talk my flying club at LZU into buying it but they are a little tight on cash right now thanks to insurance and avgas costs. I’ll go check out the website anyway and see what it’s going for. I wouldn’t be surprised if you guys already had a contract on it by the time this video dropped. Thanks as always! Best, Brian

BRS is a very useful add on assume it takes away some baggage space and adds a little weight.

I flew in to Cable a few times to get cheap(er) fuel, always a challenge to me dodging the Ontario and Brackett airspaces. In fact it was the first time I got deviated because I wandered into Brackett's airspace departing Cable, made my left crosswind turn but then was dodging a right to left traffic and violated the Class D airspace there.
@FlyingwithRich

Hey Rich, Have you seen that story about the 208, the pilot passes out and a non-pilot passenger pulls it out of a dive, gets directed to the airport, flies a perfect circling approach w/ ~3d glide to a perfect no-flap landing in the center of the RW? He claims he never did it before. IMHO, I think maybe some BS there? LOL But I never flew a turbine 208. What do you think? Just curious... Thanks, --gary
@FlyingwithRich

I think “zero” experience is a stretch, but who knows!
@Parr4theCourse
@Parr4theCourse 2 года назад
Maybe zero “formal” training? But no way, “zero” experience!
@gtr1952
@gtr1952 2 года назад
He lost com w/atc coming over the RW, then flew the 270 at pattern, lined up and greased it half way down the RW. In a turbine 208! We thought that was a real stretch for zero experience also. I guess if you believe in miracles, it could be that. 8) --gary

According to Dan Gryder this ‘hero’ knows the owner well and has between 100-150hrs in the plane. Gryder speculates it’s likely he’s been right seat for a good many of those hours and likely has many assisted takeoffs and landings. I found the most impressive part of all this to be the no flap landing.
@gtr1952
@gtr1952 2 года назад
I watched Dan's, and Juan Brown's take on it. I agree about the no flap landing. But if he was anywhere near Vne in that dive his pulling out of that was impressive too. He didn't rip the wings off or do any other damage. Even if he was a pilot, he kept a cool head and didn't panic. Seems there's just more to that story. --gtr

Very frustrating watching your videos. You talk about avionics upgrades to older aircraft but never mention anything about the approximate upgrade cost...
@Spec62
@Spec62 2 года назад
Curious why you expect anyone to know the details about upgrade costs when they didn't install them. I understood he "just" received the aircraft, or am I mistaken? He's "selling" the airplane; he's not upgrading it. He did say the logbooks were "good." If you're really curious, if you click "more," there's website information. I'm pretty sure they are receptive to further discussion given the significant majority of viewer are prioritizing how much the upgrades cost for equipment in the aircraft. Just MY thought. Great video by the way. I also frequent your website regularly. Very informative.
@keitha.9788
@keitha.9788 2 года назад
@@Spec62 If you have ever owned an airplane, the money you spend on upgrades radically affects the value of the aircraft. An owner keeps a file along with the maintenance records of the upgrade costs, and who did the upgrade. Rich, being in sales should be very aware of the avionics upgrade cost of this particular airplane since it radically affects the resale value. Lots of aircraft that are 20+ years old are getting avionics upgrades. Any experienced pilot knows that a new avionics upgrade can make flying more enjoyable because of the easily understood graphical presentation of information vs. an old "steam gauge" instrument panel which requires the pilot to mentally interpret what a dial means....... Rich has flown many different aircraft. Wish he would talk more about the aircraft he is flying ---- The Cessna 182 is a very safe aircraft because in part of its' benign stall characteristics and low stall speed. On the negative side, the 182 has a slower cruise speed than more modern designed aircraft because the airframe is a dated design and is not as aerodynamically efficient when compared to another aircraft with the same engine size and fuel consumption. The 182 series is a great versatile aircraft that can fly in and out of short runways......
@Spec62
@Spec62 2 года назад
@@keitha.9788 OK. As an FYI, took me about the same amount of time to read and have you remind me that of which I already know than it did to actually watch the brief video. None of what you addressed had anything to do with your being upset because it didn't quote the price of the upgrades while flying. Yes, the Cessna 182S, unique in THIS aircraft is its $15000 BRS which takes 40 hours to install
@rogerbee697

You rarely tell us the price. Van Bortel does that same crap. “Call for price”. It’s the typical sales crap, just like Van Bartels. Tell us the asking price so we don’t have to waste our time or yours. We know the scam. It’s just cheesy
@FlyingwithRich
@FlyingwithRich 2 месяца назад
I disagree with “rarely.” We have posted sales prices on almost all of the aircraft we sell. I have also tried to give a sales price on aircraft we feature on the videos as well. The only time I don’t is when we do the video before we have priced the airplane, but I always point to a website where you can find the price.
