Hey, in New Zealand the new 70 series ute comes with smaller side mirrors. Not the large wing mirrors Australian models have.

Wow !! Genuinely refreshing to see a LC 70 series build that doesn't include 150k of stuff you don't need. You have a good looking and capable truck. Well done. I'd put a Hy-Way sun visor on it but that's just me. Great vehicle. No testosterone and no cops. Nice :-)

Mine is an alloy tray 1988 HJ75 ute with a 1HT engine from a '91Sahara. The mileage is over 750,000ks between the two engines. The old 2H did over 550ks and the 1HT has done over 250ks in my car and 300ks in it's previous wagon. I did an extensive rebuild on the engine. Other than that it is pretty stock standard 5 speed manual with a lower first gear and longer leap to third. Oh and a bigger clutch! I used to always be towing the big horse float so the lower first was what I needed. Now it will tow some sort of caravan so still good to have that lower first gear. It has had a rebuild for each 15th year birthday, so having had one only a few years ago, it is in excellent condition. No rust or bog anywhere. It does have a fiberglass turret now but made so I can walk on it if needed. I will put a solar panel up there I think. I like just the plain interior. Nothing to beep at me. It has aircon and a radio with cassette and tint on the windows. No need for anything else. Although I guess I will have to get some sort of 2way radio for remote travel. I still even have the original seats. I hate the more modern wrap around seats. They give me a sore back and hips. Fuel could be better as it gets just 7.5ks per litre of diesel (sorry I can't compute litres per 100ks but I think it is 13ks per 100lt) whether towing or not. With it having the turbo, I keep being told to get it tuned but I'm a bit concerned about revving it out to blast speed. I doubt I've ever revved it higher than 3200! I was toying with buying a new one this year but all that beeping at me turns me right off every time. I've had it since near new and it's not for sale! 😅 But I wouldn't mind getting some better sound and heat deadening for it for the long trips. I like listening to the engine but I think better to not have too much noise on long days behind the wheel. I will do some suspension mods for towing the van and the bad dirt roads in WA. But it might be a year or two before I even get out of Qld other than maybe doing a trip to Tassie.

Nice video mate. I have just bought (about 1 week ago) a 1989 75 series Ute. Good old 2H motor (turbocharged) and myself being an ex Toyota mechanic and having my own workshop, this thing is one of the simplest cars I have ever owned. You are right when it comes to the steering having play, you do get used to it and eventually it’s just something you automatically compensate for.

Same. 1995 HZJ75RV-MNQ bought brand new with 1km on the clock when I drove it off the dealer's lot. Kept it mechanically stock. Added high powered driving lights, recently added extra lightbars, additional cabin lighting (map lights, overhead caravan grade white LED lighting), a plethora of USB charging ports, UHF CB, 4GX antenna for Telstra mobile broadband/phone service, 1500W pure sinewave inverter, dual battery system. Just had the 500,000km service done. She's just about run in, I reckon. Getting 11.8L/100km in terms of fuel consumption. Doesn't blow smoke, cranks over once and fires up immediately. Still original transmission, clutch, radiator, (water pump changed as a pre-emptive measure at 400,000km). Rear RHS barn door hinges are a bit tired (door sags ever so slightly). Paint job still in near perfect nick. Went for the mining spec rust proofing pack when I bought the vehicle (even though it's a private vehicle). Not a spot of rust anywhere underneath or on the body. Even had random people coming up to me offering me $30k cash on the spot for it. No way I'm parting ways with this baby.

I've got a 75 that is actually pretty rare because it's got factory diff lock and almost no rust and I got it with a fully custom tray that looks amazing problem is it's got a lot of electric problems that I am trying to fix, like indicators and tail lights and somehow it's missing the ecu-b fuse and ecd fuse but it still starts and runs fine

Hi there I'm almost 18 and want to get one for my first car, I'm 6' 2", would you go for a 75 or a 79 (the 6cyl not the v8)? As the 75 is more cost effective but the 79 has more features so I cant decide and want a more experienced persons opinion, I dont mind investing the extra money for a 79 but as long as its worth it

Love your vids mate. How does she compare to the 79? I'm tossing up whether to go the 75 or a 79. Biggest thing that puts me off a 79 is could and springs, I like the idea of the same type of suspension all round. But the little extra can room of the 79 is very attractive. Ahhhh decisions decisions

Never too many k's! Depends on the body mostly. Mine has a 1Ht engine = 2H with turbo and I've done 250k on that one after doing 500k with the old 2H engine. Keeping the body in good condition is what counts more than anything.

Lol, not sure whether the fact they've haven't changed they're styling is a good thing or not. The brand new 70's sell for well over 70k for the same look and extremely basic interior modcons. Albeit a good motor. Makes you wonder what you pay for. Yota Is enjoying a healthy profit margin over this 79 series boom
