Thanks I’m deciding if I want to buy a 7mgte and I figured it might need rods and pistons even though I know absolutely nothing thanks for the video! Really helps me see if I can maybe do it haha.
If I can find the space I hope to be right here with you. I redid the head gasket 15+ years ago and all the seals in between but haven't touched the bottom end. 166k miles and I'm looking forward to the time I can have a garage to get this work done.
Wow 15 year's since and still rolling thats great. I was waiting a long time for a garage to do this so I definitely feel you there. Hope you get that garage soon brother.🤙🏼
Question: When you take the block to the machine shop, do you need to remove the freeze plugs and clean the old silicone that was on the oil pan? Also, what size is the wiesco piston and the connecting rod size too?
Yes replacement of freeze plugs recommend during rebuild. Sizes will be similar to stock for rods and Pistons. You must know if you need to go over when getting machine work done 👍
This tool was specifically for 84mm wiseco pistons. So all you need to know is the size of the pistons you are installing 83mm 84mm 84.5 and so on.. and you're good to go.
I purchased this engine with them already installed. me and my son tore the whole engine down and reassembled it to verify it had all of these internals. And everything was in good condition with no damage They are oversized pistons from 83mm to 84mm
Hey Carlos a standard size set of rings should be ready to roll but Honestly i would check the gap just to make sure they are in spec. I checked mine off camera unfortunately.
I would say 700hp at least with a proper tune. I would be happy with 400hp with this engine in my light ra65 but I'm sure that number will increase over time so I would rather already have these internals so the option is there🤙
@@josephmaldonado2521 i had to bore my block 60 over ... is that a bad or good thing for boost? The block i got had water in it had lota rust pits in walls. Still learning on the 7mgte
Hey @Robg Mechanic I'd say if that's what you have send it my brotha. I'm running 84mm pistons so just make sure those pistons ring gaps and oil squirters are on point you can't afford unnecessary heat
