The Montreal skyline has changed so much in the past 5-10 years. It feels like it's downtown has grown more in that time-frame than in the 20 years prior.
Hey...you went by the Champlain Bridge....i walked along the shores of Lake Champlain...in Vermont, USA....almost to the border of Quebec...Thanks for the train ride....🚂🚂
Glad you enjoyed the ride as much as I did! If you did see my video, it was filmed during the open house on Saturday and I was even lucky to ride it early as later on they stopped accepting people on because of the crowds (plus it was my last day in Montreal and caught the 11:00 train to Toronto after I completed the round trip). Regardless, the REM is efficient and looking forward to coming back to MTL to see more progress being done!
Hi Elton, excellent video. Thanks for sharing. They have a similar train to the REM running in Sydney Australia, which they call the Metro. Certainly some interesting scenery there. All the very best from Rob in Melbourne Australia.
Great I enjoy you video, I make my ride on july 2th from Brossard to montreal an was very crowdy, I will try it again, Im in Brossard and live 25 minutes walking from the station,
I was on the first train out on the Saturday open house. I remember how we all cheered when the train broke out into the open on the viaduct. I was impressed by it all just like you. Then I did a ride on Friday after the eventful first week as a paying passenger. This time, I was in the "foamer position" right at the front window. It was fun! There were some kids there goofing around and having fun. Mind you, getting off at the stations in Brossard reminds one that this is a work in progress. The DIX30 Mall at Du Quartier is not exactly pedestrian friendly...though the 3 Brasseur bar is perfectly placed to catch foot traffic from the station.
It was an RDC 4 at the end of your video. Really liked the REM also. If you get a 12 hour pass for zone AB, you can also ride the EXO trains as well as the REM
Another thing that bothers me about the stm is that every morning they say that there is a service disruption on the orange line but it takes not even 10 minutes for the service to start back up again
I took the REM yesterday (August 3) for the first time. The train is good but the signage is not. At Central Station I couldn't figure out where to buy a ticket, upstairs or downstairs. And I've been using Central Station since 1966. At Brossard I didn't know which platform the train was coming on. Of course, once you know, you know. But it's not very clear. They need to do better. And those STM ticket vending machines are terrible, especially for a station which serves travelers from Toronto, Ottawa, Halifax and New York.
Same here. Where I work is across the 40 from Fairview. I usually use the express buses like the 485. And boy, if you miss one of those in the winter and the schedule's buggered up? it's a cold, cold wait indeed.
The Metro is much quieter rubber wheels. I’m 62 and I was 5 when the metro opened in 1966 just before Expo 67. Different times. Still near Montreal ( L’Ile Perrot) still love the place. Warts and all lol.
The irrationality of quetaines in Quebec: Public transport that allows you to shop in a shopping center for motorists, the 10-30, it's the equivalent of Lumine in Tokyo but on an area of 850,000 m2. ;)
4.75 loonies for an AB ticket to cover the entire A1 branch. A regular $3.75 ticket if you're getting off at Nun's Island. As for the project? So far, 7 billion. It was originally 6.3, but, hey, COVID and a bunch of other stuff happened. It`s still a minor over-run compared to the Eglington Crosstown at 12 billion. And that's a surface tram line.
