You forgot about starting off. If the bike isn’t moving off as you’d expect, you give it full throttle and then dump the clutch whilst sitting back so everybody can see an awesome wheelie before you hit the tree! 😂
@FoxFireDesigns

I did that once when I was a kid didn't feel like changing out of 4th gear and popped a wheelie into the tree and my entire family was watching I felt cool tho

There seems to be something about beginners popping the clutch that attracts the bike to the closest tree.

Love the 300r. I got a 2022 300r and have done a little tuning with EJK tuner, and pair valve delete with fmf q4 slip on, and kdx snorkel. Definitely woke the bike. It is definitely a great trail bike, I have yet tried it out on a track but not the reason I bought it. I like woods riding, single track. Nice video, but I was looking for something a little more advanced then the few techniques you showed. I have been riding quads my whole life and used to have a RMX 250 16 years ago. And now just getting back into riding bikes. I know the basics but I would like to dial in my technique a little better. I have a hard time standing and riding. I’m sure the weight of the 300r does not help but I can move on it, just not how I see others doing it. I will mostly sit unless I see a big bump coming up or small obstacles i need to get over. I’m also a bigger guy as far as mass. I’m 230lb not fat but not slim either. I do masonry so I have a bunch of upper body strength and I think my downfall is my lower body is not as strong. But I just wanted to see if maybe you could do a video on technique for single track for a intermediate rider. Thanks.

I absolutely love your videos, super helpful….. something funny happened today watching this episode….. so I’ve been trying to decide what my first bike should be and I’ve done hours and hours of research, RU-vid, and window shopping… and I’ve always concluded that I would get the KLX300 and it’s just weird that it’s the bike you pulled out for the guy learning how to ride.. and you also said that it’s the same height as a 450 I assumed the 450 would be taller… I want to practice on my Klx for a year or 2… then I want a KX

I have ridden 4 wheelers before in my youth, but now I'm 54, and because of knee injuries can no longer hike, bike, and run like I want. So my work friends have been telling me to get a used dirt bike, and start slowly going out with them on the weekends and work my way up. So I'm 54, in good thin shape, can I learn dirt bike riding? Or am I too old and will hurt myself. Be honest, I went with them last week and rode B, and had some fun. Tell me what you think.

you'll be fine, I've seen people Start in their 60's.....the people who break bones are going WAY too fast and stupid, it's their own fault..........I'm 39, been riding street motorcycles for Over 10 years, and Just got my first Dirt Bike, Suzuki Drz400(dual sport actually)......Dirt is a Whole different game than street riding...the Main advantage I noticed I have however, is the balancing instincts are already there. I would definitely recommend starting on a 250cc.......400 is nice, but it's Very Tall and goofy at first, and Only fun to ride in "open" spaces, 400cc is harder to navigate in the woods and tighter trails......I've definitely dropped my bike Plenty of times, but Only on muddy trails!!.......mud is definitely where things get sketchy....but Dirt, Rocks and jumping over Logs are pretty effortless.......250cc is Way more friendly, and nimble and easy to articulate.......Like I said, you'll drop your bike in slippery terrain(tires are critical!), so get Full Wrap Bark Busters to protect the Bar Ends, so you don't snap Brake levers and stuff.......wiping out on dirt/mud is MUCH more easy than dropping on pavement......I wiped out like 5 times in the mud, and didn't have a scratch on me.

@theamazingdrummerautumn6303
That last tip I learned how to do first because my front brake cable was not on reliable so I always rode it without a front brake and relied on the bake break a lot. The only thing that I hated about it was when trying to put my foot on the foot pegs sometimes I would miss and hit the back brake. I’ve gotten better with that. Although now I have a different bike that has a front brake that works but rarely use since I am used to my old bike

I bought a 2T MX bike as my “First bike”, but had a 125 when I was 12 or so. I definitely felt brand new besides being able to hop on and go. Having a bike that had a more manageable power curve would have made the process much faster I feel like. Also, Researching the bike would’ve been good, as the first google searches revealed that I purchased the worst “modern” MX bike one could buy 😂 BUT turns out, it was my skill that was the problem!! Slowly but surely looking less goony! Lol good luck

quick one, IF someone will awswer me. So I'm new in riding bikes I have a yz250f , It's stock except for the pipe. Do I have to use a clutch when coming to a stop and downshifting. Also if I down gear quickly is it oky to keep on holding the clutch while you downshift from 4th to 2nd or 3rd to first? I'll be happy if someone could help me out please. There are loads of videos but they don't explain it well
@thejohn6614
@thejohn6614 2 года назад
You have to use it when coming to a stop. You don't necessarily have to use if to downshift if you're at the right rpm but you should use it when learning and when downshifting multiple gears. Keep in mind that if your rpm are high and you downshift a bunch then your transmission will explode. So if you're going the speed of say 5th gear and suddenly downshift to 1st or 2nd and let go of the clutch it will be too much for the transmission. But if you're going in 5th and hit the breaks to an almost stop and shift down to 1st and drop the clutch you'll be fine. Listen to and feel the engine.

How did it go? I bought a 2020 KLX300 and it is a good bike to learn on. I got a lot better with it during the year and did some of the easier jumps on the beginner MX track we have. That bike is very forgiving except when it comes to picking it up! I bought a 2021 YZ250 last year and can certainly feel the difference in weight and suspension, obviously power as well.
@drsnapid
@drsnapid 2 года назад
@@bubulubu3136 I had a great time. The bike is capable of more speed than I am on most sections of track and I got faster as the day progressed. I added compression up front compared to my enduro settings. I passed a lot of slower riders on faster bikes but I've been riding a long time and suspect they were on bikes well beyond them. I didn't drop it yesterday, but looped it during wheely practice the day before, it's been dropped hundreds of times in enduro lol

@@bubulubu3136 Australia mate! We can ride all year. I can't really blame the suspension on the 300r since it's probably better than the suspension on many older bikes that people jumped bigger. I'll need to practice. Luckily we have our own place to ride and we will make some jumps soon
