Great suggestions. I think we’re rocking most of these already, but it’s been a minute since we made the adjustments to our current settings. So I’m gonna watch this back again later with GoPro in hand and compare! Thanks for the tips!!!
Thank you so much! I keep coming home with shaky footage, and I didn't realize I might have the hypersmooth too high on my Hero 11. Just set it to "On" instead of "Boost" to see what happens.
@@cyruscrossan still the same, I think I may need use the GoPro as a B cam, and not treat it as an A cam. Bright light only, as I think global shutter and low light aren’t a good mix :(
@@ryanstruck Yes GoPro does not do well at all without a bright sunny day or a bright light. It's sensor is so small, I would recommend using a phone or mirrorless camera as your A if you can.
This is what I have been looking for. I have the same issue with my gopro. I recently went to Belgium to shoot and all my gopro videos are awful. Thanks for the tip. I guess I have to shoot more and learn to find what's working for me.
Wow ! Thank you. Really appreciate a video right to the point. I just got back to using a GoPro and just used my brand new Hero 10 Black and I was in a low light and default setting were so bad ! Shaky as it gets ! Not new to film but not good with small lens and sensor such as this. Your setting were spot on and really worked. Thank you !
@@cyruscrossan Definitely did, I had the hyper smooth too high, in linear mode & had the iso too low. After changing them separately I found it was caused by the iso. Which is strange cause I wouldn't think that would affect it too much! Do you have any tips to shooting in low light i.e. in a forest on a cloudy day because if I lower the shutter speed it gets brighter but the video becomes blurry?
Hey thanks a lot for this video. I was struggling to figure out what was going on with my GoPro footage. It was becoming exhausting especially when comparing my videos to other MTB videos. I am going to try your suggestions and hopefully put this GoPro video quality issue behind me.
Hey JT, hopefully these help you out, let me know how it goes. I feel like people associate GoPros as super stable, and think going max on hypersmooth and stuff will do the trick when it's actually somewhere in the middle on the settings. Good luck!
@@cyruscrossan No Problem. I will let you know. I wish I had seen this video a couple of days ago. I have another video to post but the quality suck. I'm hoping what I learn from your video will help me create better looking content. thanks!
I tried to take a video with my Go Pro 11 Black at night time. While just walking and recording, the videos are rather shaky and has vibrations. It happens mainly during the night, sometimes during the day too. My Hypersmooth is on Boost and im taking the video in 4k 60Fps 2x slow mo. Anyone experienced the same issue ? Any fixes ? Is this a manufacturing defect on the camera ? Aren't go pro supposed to be stable even on rough and bumpy roads ? Please help. Thanks.
GoPro's have a small sensor. They will not perform well at night unfortunately. I would try turning your hypersmooth from "boost" to "on" during the day and see if that helps. Sometimes too much hypersmooth creates shaky footage as well as the GoPro is overcorrecting itself.
It's funny when people make excuses for go pro.and say the sensor is really smaller because the Camera is so compact. My phone camera and sensor Is extremely small and the video quality is So much better it's not even funny. A gopro is supposed to be a dedicated camera. That's the only job it's supposed to do, and it does it quite poorly. The video footage looks like a camera from 15 years ago. An actual 1080 camera looks way way better, and gopro is supposed to be 4k and beyond. I've never seen gopro footage that even looks as good as 1080.
I can understand that - I remember feeling the same way when I got my first GoPro. I think there are some moments where GoPro footage can really shine and look really good - but it's not for every moment.
Thank you so much for making this video. How about a GoPro hero 11 6 months ago and all my footage no matter what setting I put it in shakes terribly. I never had this issue with my GoPro 5 or the GoPro Hero 7. Or even ran through a lot of the settings just to test them out and still get shaky footage. Thank you again I really appreciate you taking the time like this
Great video. I am a beginner with gopro 9 and need to know which settings in 4k for hiking or walking in the city in a cloudy day. It needs also to be stable (should i use a gimbal ?) thank you
Hey Rida, I would suggest having a higher ISO, maybe 800 or 1600 for cloudier days and turning Hypersmooth to "ON" for the best results. GoPro's do worse, with bad lighting so that is a limitation of them. I have never used a gimbal with them but it certainly can not hurt if you want it to be absolutely stable.
@@cyruscrossan tell me how I completely missed that there is now presets :D Saw them and it still never clicked until I'm typing this comment! probably will still forget to switch :D
