When it comes to skin care and shaving, we all have different genetics and physiological conditions that make our pores and beards different from one another’s, so I think you have to take advice like this with a grain of salt and find what works best for you, personally. I have very oily skin, for example, so I have to constantly battle looking “shiny” or “greasy” - moisturizers just make my skin surface shinier and greasier and aren’t of much use to me. We’re all different.

Looking good Brian. Agreed on shaving against the grain for the same reasons. Across the grain on the second pass gives an excellent finish without the trouble.

Astra sells the 100 pack of razor blades for 17 CAD. I've been using the same box since I switched to safety razors....however many years ago that was. Imagine spending only 17 CAD for years and years of razor blades. Definitely second the suggestion to switch to safety razors

Great video and I can recommend Tiege Hanley especially for anyone a bit confused about starting skin care. I thin it's time I stepped up and started using a safety razor. Bit worried about getting nicks and cuts though.

I'm 47 and have been thinning on crown. Having hair and styling it has always been my identity. Not sure its male pattern or due to stress. So balding gracefully is so hard for me. I've been growing hair a little longer to hide it and using hair fibers occasionally. Thinking of going for that bruce willis hairdo from Die Hard 1 although it will reveal my condition. Maybe just shave sometime soon. I think it'll be a shock. Thanks Brian for your videos!

How is hair fiber working ? Which product is good not causing more damage?

@@wisdomok99 hair fiber works for coverage and i feel more confident. Upon looking info up on it, it states its safe for your hair. But other articles and people leaving reviews say it makes the thinning worse. I think it depends on how much you use and how often. Its hard for me to make an assessment as my hairs been thinning during this time all along. Another thing that can make hair start thinning is using too much product. One of Brian's grooming points.

Hello! Is it possible to reshape the lapel gorge? My suit has wide peak lapels, but unfortunately I am not satisfied with the width of the lapel gorge. Is it possible to tailor the gorge smaller, in order to get a more significant peak?

I start with the grain and then I shave against it. I wonder if I might have thinner whiskers, or just not a dense hair pattern. I also use the 5 blade cartridge for about 2 months before swapping out. But I don't I represent the majority of men out there. I am interested with the safety razor. I just got to make the plunge.

I think that a regular pedicure or a visit to a podiatrist for a foot trim is also important. As we age our toenails become much harder and more difficult to trim ourselves. You will avoid ingrown toenails and receive a real lift to your well being. Top hints. Thanks.

Shaving against the grain to achieve BBS (baby butt smooth )is perfectly acceptable as long as you use a safety or straight razor with a sharp blade ( 2nd use preferably) and a good slick shave soap or cream, lathered using a brush, not foam/gel crap. Good soaps like Zingari man ( USA) have fantastic skin ingredients. For me BBS every time.

Would disagree on shaving against the grain. I do two passes with my safety razor, one with the grain, then apply hot, damp cloth, oil, and shaving cream and do the second pass against the grain. It rarely ever leaves me with ingrown hairs.

Individual results may vary, as with all things. I personally cannot shave against the grain without ending up with ingrown hairs and other skin irritations, even with safety razors. Even then, I still often end up having to dig ingrown hairs out with a needle and tweezers; it’s just much worse if I’ve shaved against the grain. I also have to use non-comedogenic shaving cream, because “normal” shaving creams make me break out. Everybody’s skin, beards, and genetics are different. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Hey Brian, I refused to Bald gracefully and got a hair transplant as my receding hairline was affecting my self esteem and confidence so I disagree with point number one... there are so many options for guys to change their balding situation and if it's in their power to do so why not encourage it? However if some are cool with shaving their head or embracing their receding hairline then it's all good 👍🏻

sorry, single blade razors do not give as clean a shave as multi-blade. here's what's weird about pricing on multi-blade cartridges - they are way more $ than the same blade in a disposable razor?! so i buy a bag of disposables about twice a year (the multi-blades last longer, at least fo rme, than single blades).
