my only beef with these games was that the tutorial skipped important context and i had to figure that shit out the hard way. i get that's the charm of the game... but mother fucker is it frustrating. xD

Man, I get it. The game is amazing but it has huge flaws. I couldn't figure out how to leave the hunters dream for like 15 minutes the first time I played, it was sad. XD And making you kill a boss before you can level up puts up a pretty big wall for new players, too.

Ehhh the first boss isn't that hard. He is at first, but when you figure out his moves he becomes smooth as butter. Honestly his role is to make sure newcomers die early, ensuring you KNOW without any doubt that this game will kick your ass again, and again, and again.

It's all about real consequences, no save scumming allowed, and I thank them for it. 5. What would be the point if they didn't do that? 6. Patently incorrect. EVERY enemy has the potential to fuck you up. And the levels are not repetitive in the slightest. 7. That's not why they remove the pause function. Not even close. 8. Again, it's all about consequences. That tense feeling is a core function of the game. If this was Cracked's points, they're as full of shit as every other Souls/Bloodborne detractor talking out of their ignorant assholes.

CerealRape 1. Story/context all hidden in item description and dialogues with NPCs and also the props, level design and enemy design. Nothing is ever told to you on a silver platter and there's alot of inferences and interpretations to be made. 2. Bloodborne stats and skill sets aren't really that bad, but you need to infer based on what values are being increased on one side of the screen when you are raising but not committing a point to a particular stat. 3. Again, messages are designed to be cryptic and open to interpretation. Seriously, how hard is it to understand a message that says, "Secrets" or "Ambush"? You have to fail reading comprehension to not understand those. 4. There are no active saves. There are checkpoint saves. 5. That's punishment for dying in the first place. On the other hand, you also have a chance to end up completing the level with more Blood Echoes than you would have if you completed the run flawlessly to the next checkpoint, assuming that you reacquire your lost Blood Echoes. 6. Bloodborne's levels are far from repetitive. Everything is formidable. Everything can kill you. Even the peasants. They come in large numbers, and they also hit hard. Also, Bloodborne levels, like Dark Souls 1, tend to loop into themselves in surprising ways. Just like the old Castlevania games. 7. Grinding doesn't really do you good. Also, you can quit the game and come back exactly where you left. 8. Again, the game is designed to punish you for mistakes. You don't want to lose everything again? Learn from your mistakes and don't do it again next time.

It's just bad design to not have it. Furthermore, just because it's the internet doesn't mean you have to call people retarded just for accurately pointing out a difference.

KAGEHOSHI What is the purpose of pause? So that you can stop the game where it is and go do something else. What is the purpose of save & quit? So that you can stop the game where it is and go do something else. The differences between the two are so microscopic that it's just semantics being argued here.

The purpose of a pause is to briefly halt the game without exiting it; it's with the intention of coming back to in in minutes or seconds while the game client remains running. The purpose of saving and quitting is to stop playing for a much longer period of time with your current progress being stored. While you can use the save/quit option and come back much sooner, and essentially treat it like pause, it's still bad design. To give you an example. It's like if instead of having a pause option on RU-vid videos, you instead had to copy a link with a time code, and close the tab/window completely. Sure, with the time-coded link you can resume from exactly the same spot as when you closed the video, but is it the same as pausing? You may still say yes, but it's still a needlessly inconvenient system compared to the alternative. I foresee this going on for like 12 more comments, so I'm just going to quit now since I think I made my point. I probably won't read or reply. Have a good day/night.

Jester Azazel A lot of the stuff in this video is misleading. Firstly, instead of pausing, you can just run to a safe area and nothing will attack you, and also you can't pause most online multiplayer games anyway so this isn't really that different. Secondly, you can't manually save the game, but it autosaves after almost every action you take, so that you have to live with your mistakes instead of reloading your save to keep yourself from losing stuff when you die.
