This is super good! To add some to point #5 as far as thinking deeply about what you're reading, specifically as it relates to God - In John Piper's interview with J. I. Packer on the topic of the Puritans, Packer stated "But yes, they became my example - as they still are - of folk who lived slowly enough to be able to think deeply about God. And they did, and what they thought, they expressed." There's a lot that can be said (and I know you've do so) about this as well as how much more beneficial physical books can be over digital ones (not discounting their use entirely) and how our hyper-connected world is destroying our attention spans, thought processes and the way we relate to one another. Thank you for putting out content like this!

I was literally looking for that Packer quote about living slow enough to think deeply about God just last week! Thank you so much! I couldn’t remember where I’d heard him say that. Completely agree with you on all of that. More reading, less screens.

A new book, but Do You Believe? By Paul Tripp was fantastic. So convicting to apply the truth of Scripture to everyday lives. He pulls no punches in addressing the heart.

I love Paul Tripp's books but this one wasn't on my radar. Thanks for the recommendation! Adding it to the list.

Thank you for this! It's wonderful to have your content coming more regularly again! I'm not sure how up your alley this is, but my favorite nonfic that i read this year is "The Secret Thoughts of an Unlikely Convert" by Rosaria Butterfield.

Thanks! It’s great to be back doing it more regularly again. I’ll check it out. I’ve read “The Gospel Comes with a House Key” and vaguely know her story from interviews, but would love to dive in deeper. Thanks for the recommendation!

The title didn't come through in your comment for some reason. Was it "God, Technology, and the Christian Life?"

Thanks for articulating these ideas Reagan! I think you might enjoy/vibe with Christian author Justin Whitmel Early's books - though I'm sure you're probably aware of them as you're in a similar space. "Habits of the Household" is the one I've read and I'm listening to "Made for People" Also, what's your thoughts on Kindle / e-readers?

I've read The Common Rule and Habits of the Household. Made for People sounds really interesting! That wasn't on my radar. Adding it to the list. Thank you! It's probably an even 3 way split for me between ebooks, physical books, and audiobooks. I prefer physical books, but just have a space issue at this point. I do also like that I can auto sync my notes from Kindle books into my note taking apps using Readwise. I have an older Kindle Paperwhite that I really like, especially in bed. But lately I've been running into a problem. I've been reading a lot more of my ebooks on Everand (formerly Scribd) because it's just a flat subscription and you get access to tons and tons of ebooks (much cheaper than buying Kindle books). But they don't work on the Kindle reader. So I've been looking into getting a device from Boox which can run a full Android operating system-meaning you can have the kindle app, Everand, and even Readwise Reader all on one e-ink device. That would be more ideal, I think.

@@reagantrose Yes I'm about the same split for physical, ebooks and audiobooks too. Problem I find with ebooks/audiobooks is I'm engaging a lot less personally - mainly because of the friction of notetaking. Physical you can write in the margins, make it yours etc. Kindle's "notes" is a slow death typing one letter at a time to make a basic note. And audiobooks, I wish there was some feature on audible that let me take a voice note that is bookmarked to a timestamp. - It's hard to vandalize the digital! Any suggestions? How do you handle engaging with ebooks/audiobooks as you go? Boox - super interesting! I'll have to keep my eye on that. Thanks!

I highly recommend God’s battle plan for the mind by David Saxton. It is a book on the Puritan practice of biblical meditation.
