Did our video help you? If so, consider buying us a beer: bit.ly/3feE6tJ
In this video series, we show you how to disassemble, modify and reassemble an 80/100 Series Transfer Case, model HF2AV. This video was made possible by Georg who owns and operates Valley Hybrids in Stockton, California, which is a Land Cruiser Specialty Shop. Georg is the person who is teaching you how to do this job. We were just the cameramen and video editors documenting this job and sharing it on our channel.
This is Part 1 of a 4-part series. In this part, Georg completes approximately 2/3 of the disassembly of the transfer case.
The modifications that will be performed to the transfer case are as follows:
1) Installation of a Part-time 4wheel Drive Kit so you can drive in 2wd
2) Installation of a High Range Gear Set to compensate for larger tires
3) Installation of a Low Range Gear Set to give you better Crawling Control.
If you want to contact Valley Hybrids for a job you need done on your Land Cruiser, here's a link to their website where you can fill out a "Work Request" :
valleyhybrids.com/
If you'd like to give Valley Hybrids a call, here's their number: (209) 475-8808
If you want to order some parts from Cruiser Brothers, here's a link to their website:

*TORQUE VALUES*
*In this video series, torque values aren't given while Georg is assembling the transfer case. People like Georg, with tons of automotive experience don't live and die by the torque value. They know how to assemble parts without breaking or stripping fasteners or having fasteners come loose. I have downloaded all the related Toyota FSM pages I could find via the Toyota Tech Info website and put them into a folder on my Google Drive for those that would like to read through the pages to glean other information not shared by Georg and to also provide torque values for people. drive.google.com/drive/folder...

Most of the thanks goes to Georg @ Valley Hybrids. I did spend a long day filming with Georg at his shop and a god-awful amount of time editing this series, but without Georg's expert instruction, this video wouldn't exist.

What a great video!! Georg rebuilt the 1987 split t-case I put in my 1969 FJ55 along with a new H55F 5 speed. He is an amazing Land Cruiser icon and has helped me many times with parts, service, and know-how during my build.

This is going to be a really valuable series! I am actually looking forward to when my Transfer Case needs some work. Lol! Great Job Tim and Sean!
@TimmyTheToolman
@TimmyTheToolman 6 месяцев назад
Yeah, it is no doubt going to have huge value for anyone wanting to tear apart and either rebuild or rebuild/modify their HF2A transfer case. There will never be another video series on this subject that will come close to what Georg is showing. The reason why I know this is because of the level of work involved. This was a 12 hour day of filming for Georg and I. Then, I probably put at least 40 hours into editing all 4 parts. Then Sean got the projects and polished them up putting in a bunch more time. Nobody else is going to put in that level of work. NOBODY!! This is what separates us from most Automotive DIY Channels. If people want entertainment and videos that lack detail, they go to other people's channels. If someone wants to actually do a job with a high level of confidence, they come to us, because unlike other channels, we don't leave people lost with our instruction. We take you from start to finish showing you all the necessary detail so you can succeed. If DIY channels were graded on a practicality level, and that was the main component for why people subscribed to a channel, we'd have millions of subscribers. But, a lot of people are looking for entertainment rather than practical instruction. I wish we had a larger following, but at the end of the day, I'm proud of what we are accomplishing with our channel. We are helping people be self-sufficient and do their own automotive work saving them tons of money and headaches. And, people can take the knowledge and skills they learned from us and pass it on to others. Sean, Georg and myself are leaving the world a little better than we found it. We're not curing cancer or finding the answer to world peace, but we are doing something to help our fellow man/woman. This is what drives us to continue to create content. Thanks Richard for being a fan of our channel. It's people like yourself that help motivate us to keep going. Part 3 will be coming out very soon.

Thanks for the well thought out reply. I watch a lot of RU-vid videos on subjects ranging from watch repair to bee keeping etc. Your channel inspired me to purchase a Toyota (2001 Land Cruiser). I have been watching some of your older suspension videos because, although they are for your 4 Runners they do have a lot of value. Really appreciate you guys!

BRILLIANTLY designed!!! No wonder these trucks are so BULLETPROOF!! Makes all the other late model cars & trucks that people swear over look like complete garbage. No wonder they’re having so many recalls and warranty work. They’re built to fail. Toyota, Land Cruisers are just built so different and significantly overbuilt. No surprise they last forever for your Costco trips!! Excellent video and content once again brothers!! Greatly appreciate it and seeing how well engineered these beasts are even though I’ll never rebuild one of these, it’s great to see it done properly!! God bless~

When I see something like this, I'm always amazed that some engineer(s) were able to create the design. It blows my mind the brain power some people have. Thanks for the compliment. This project was possible only because Georg decided to take time out of his schedule to teach people how to rebuild and modify one of these transfer cases. We obviously put in a lot of work filming and editing, but the expertise is all Georg. Thanks for the comment. I appreciate it!

@@TimmyTheToolman yessir for sure, I completely agree! However, without YOU this video also wouldn’t have happened, so thanks to BOTH of yall for showing us this engineering masterpiece!! Crazy how works of art like this can be engineered and last longer than the truck itself and it’s owners, but there’s engineers that design CVT trannys and fiats and fords and Chevys that have more BCM’s than the dollars the vehicles themselves cost. Mind boggling these engineers lol I’m kidding, in part, but my point remains. So, thank you George AND TTTM for hours of filming and editing!!!

@@efil4kizum Doing that and applying products like fluid film is I guess all you can do. Other states use different strategies to combat icy roadways. Some use crushed lava rock, which isn't corrosive to metal. The only reason salt is used is because it's cheap and plentiful. Requiring people to buy studded tires would be better than putting millions of vehicles to an early grave due to rusting out.
