80 Car Conrail OI-8 on the Northeast Corridor 

My grandparents lived on Keystone St in Philadelphia and the Northeast Corridor ran right behind their house. I can remember as a kid in the late 60's and 70's freights being pulled by GG1's and E44's all the time.

Conrail still exists as a terminal railroad operation in northern NJ, southern NJ & Philadelphia as well as around Detroit, MI. There was also a good article in the October 2012 issue of Trains Magazine on current Conrail operations.

I wish I could have seen this. It brings back memories as a kid. Thanks for posting this :-)

This particular train was through Edison around 12:30PM. They ran another OI-8 today which departed Lane after 2:00PM, so there is no set schedule.

Nice video! I use to see alot of long freight trains on the north east corridor many years ago. Where was that long freight train going to?

Because they are using the NEC the motive power is required to have cab signals, right? to prevent another Chase, MD disaster?
