For the 200th volume I've decided to post the commercials found on the tapes I recorded of "The Real Ghostbusters" into one MEGA VOLUME! Virtually all of these commercials have appeared in previous volumes, but here they are in their original order and in much better quality. My original plan was to post this as a single hour-long video, but video compression and RU-vid's stupid 1000 character limit on the description has led me to break it into parts. I'm really pushing the limits of the medium with this one. Thanks to everyone for watching!
These commercials aired in May of 1988 on KBHK.
1. "The Real Ghostbusters" Commercial Bumper
2. Cocoa Krispies
3. "The Real Ghostbusters" Commercial Bumper
4. Perfume Pretty Barbie
5. Barbie Ferrari (I've always been fascinated by the room they're in here)
6. Cocoa Puffs (Those children are terrible...fueling Sonny's Cocoa Puff addiction like drug pushers!)
7. Transformers Target Master Seacons and Sparkobots
8. Hollywoods (So much hair...)
9. Honey Comb (I wonder what Big Bad Moe The Motorcycle Maniac is up to these days?. Also: I want a Robot that detects "big taste")
10. "The Real Ghostbusters" Commercial Bumpers
11. He-Man 900 Number (He-Man Phone Sex!)
12. Maple Town School Bus
13. Promo for "The Jetsons" (SORRY GEORGE)
14. "The Real Ghostbusters" Commercial Bumpers
15. Cap'n Crunch/Toys 'R Us Great Toy Giveaway (Can you imagine a shopping spree in an 80's era Toys 'R Us? I envy any kid that got to experience that)
16. Keepers (These siblings obviously grew up to have serious trust issues)
17. Purrtenders (I'm still astounded that these were actually made. There had to have been some blackmail involved)
18. 976-6000
19. 976-7777 (I like to think that these puppets were constructed out of random household objects only minutes before filming. It helps me sleep at night)
20. "The Real Ghostbusters" Commercial Bumpers
21. Lady Lovely Locks
22. Hooks (One day geneticists will develop creatures that look like hooks. And then it will be too late)
23. 976-KIDS (These aired a few weeks after Easter and the line was probably so profitable that they kept it open after Easter was over...hence the "Spring Bunny")
24. Nosy Bears (However insane the concept...the noses are pretty damn creative)
25. Fruity Marshmallow Krispies (Definitely one of the catchiest jingles...ever)
26. "The Real Ghostbusters" Commercial Bumpers
27. M&M's
28. Honey Nut Cheerios
29. Bubble Thing (Creating giant bubbles will make everyone like you)
30. Promo for "Heathcliff" (No one should)
31. "The Real Ghostbusters" Commercial Bumper
32. "The Real Ghostbusters" End Credits
33. Cheerios
34. Candilicious
35. KBHK Station ID
36. Golden Grahams
37. TV Spot for "Willow" (I remember really wanting to see this, but I was only four at the time. I do have a fuzzy memory of owning a read-along book/audio cassette of the movie though)
38. Fazz
39. Skyball (Balls and netting...the ultimate sport)

I watched The Real Ghostbusters cartoon A LOT as a kid. This batch of 80s commercial is a major flashback. I most likely watched these exact ones a good 23 years ago. Crazy! 80s kids have the best nostalgia to look back on!

Oh man, I didn't realize this was local for me until I saw the (408) area code on the 976-6000 Easter Bunny commercial. I completely forgot about how often those came one and my Mom told my brother and I never to call any number that start with 976 LOL
@80sCommercialVault
@80sCommercialVault 8 лет назад
+Sean Victorine Keep in mind that the 408 area code has changed since then. I'm from Santa Cruz and that used to be our area code until around 1996, when it was changed to 831. I think the 408 area code is for South San Jose now.

I had a Purrtender (the pink and white cat disguised as a Toucan). The disguise was kinda chinsey but the Purrtender was very cuddly - heavy, but cuddly! I also had a Nosey Bear (with the basketball hoop in its nose). Girls toys were definitely strange, but what a time to be a kid!

What they didn't mention is that you use the giant bubbles to entrap the kids who don't like you. Then they float quietly away, the bubbles eventually popping over a deep, secluded canyon.

All right! Made it to the 200th set! Plus, kids ads from the late 80s! I know I'm gonna love these! I WANT A BIG CEREAL WITH A BIGGGG TASTE Do we get the Magic Drugs(TM) by calling He Man? Remember the Nickelodeon Super Toy Runs that did something similar to the Cap'n Crunch contest? Those 900 and 976 numbers are ancient 80s relics by now! So huge bubbles earn me street cred? Good to know. The Willow NES game was much better.

1:12--"I'm cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs"--that is an iconic advertising slogan. 2:44--The Honeycomb jingle is a classic. 3:26--I wonder how many kids dialed those 1-900 and 976 numbers without their parents' permission--and how many parents deducted the cost from their kids' allowances? 7:37--The Hooks commercial seems to be a style parody/pastiche of early rock and roll music. 8:54--Whether or not you liked Fruity Marshmallow Krispies, how can you not love the catchy calypso-flavored jingle? I heard that some people originally thought the word "shapes" sounded like a bad word, so they rerecorded it to make that word sound more distinct. 9:36--The M & M's jingle is great too. Back when M & M's came in 2 varieties--Plain (now called Milk Chocolate) and Peanut. 10:07--"It's a honey of an O"--another iconic jingle. 13:30--My 2nd favorite Golden Grahams jingle (for me, nothing will ever beat "Oh, those Golden Grahams" from the late 70's/early 80's). This one is based on the 60's hit "Happy Together" by the Turtles. (The Nylons did a great cover of it in the 80's.)

Never realized there were so many 976 ads back then.
@80sCommercialVault
@80sCommercialVault 9 лет назад
KBHK was just one of hundreds of independent stations back then. And I assume it was up to the owner or program director of each station whether they would air these sorts of ads. So who knows how common they really were. I'm pretty sure they didn't air on network TV though and were strictly a cable/syndication thing.
@Whtxombi
@Whtxombi 9 лет назад
80sCommercialVault Yeah if I remember correctly they were pretty prevalent on the independent stations. Just a easy way to rustle up some revenue I suppose.
