These commercials aired on KBHK TV 44 in late November of 1987. Thanks to my cousin David for recording these.
1. Fisher Price Sonic Rangers (Why do the kids in this ad even need walkie talkies?)
2. Nintendo Entertainment System (Proof that NES games were imported from the future)
3. TV Spot for "Cinderella"
4. Life Savers
5. Tyco Turbo Hoppers (Love the banjo music. I think the kid on the right might be Joaquin Phoenix...not sure)
6. Promo for "The Real Ghostbusters" (My favorite cartoon growing up)
7. The Wild Puffalumps (Insane)
8. Lazer Tag (There are so many things I could say about this commercial, but to sum everything up: It is amazing)
9. Visionaries (I had a blue guy with a mustache)
10. StarCom ("He's mastered teleportation...and de-materialization!")
11. Tyco Super Blocks (Military legos? Awesome!)
12. Fruit Wheats ("I know...")
13. Toys "R" Us
14. Moon Dreamers
15. Jem (Okay, so I hated Jem as a little boy, but I have to admit, it works as a pretty amazing 80's cartoon time capsule)
16. Corn Flakes ("That's daddy's cereal!")

Me and my brother had Laser Tag when we were kids. We had 2 guns and the Vest with the target, one of each. What memories, bring back the 80s.

I've been watching all of these for the past few days. Thank you for posting them. Not only is it great to see old commercials, but they're from the Bay Area. Channel 44, Awesome. This is my favorite volume so far. The NES commercial is one of the best and I so wanted Lazer Tag when I was a kid but never got it.

I remember Tyco Toys, mostly for their electric racing sets (I had one when I was a youngster). I don't recall them making a Lego clone.

I used to live in the Bay Area as a child, so I remember the end shot of that Real Ghostbusters promo like it was yesterday.

The Fruit Wheats commercial aired during the breaks for the "Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown/Garfield's Halloween Adventure" October 1987 airing on CBS, while the Lazer Tag and Fisher Price Sonic Rangers commercials aired that same week on CBS' Saturday Morning breaks for "My Pet Monster: Runaway Monster" & "Pound Puppies" and "Fraggle Rock". Anyone remember that particular airing back in October 1987? : )

It's obvious this ad set came late in the year, since candy and cereal ads take a back seat to toy ads. I think this was the year my best friend and I both got Lazer Tag for Christmas. It was a lot of fun the few times we played it. Then, they languished somewhere in our closets for the next ten years or so. I'm amused that the fake Legos ad goes out of its way to confirm that they work with real Legos. Though I agree that military Legos was a cool idea.

Wow, I had a lot of these toys. I played Laser Tag (never got the helmet though, sucked), I had Visionaries figures, my favorite was the blue guy with eagle on his chest, and I had Star Com toys though they took forever to transform. Oh and I used to eat Fruit Wheats too, till they discontinued it.

@slydawg221, Fruit wheats cereal were really good. I remember always getting the strawberry flavor whenever I saw them in an grocery store back in the day. I can't forget about (9) Visionaries! The Real Ghostbusters were my second favorite cartoon growing up.

Called R.O.B. for "Robotic Operating Buddy". It was bundled with the NES "Deluxe Set" and was available for a pretty limited time starting in late 1985. There were only two games you could use with it in its entire lifespan, so you weren't missing much.

That Cinderella commercial makes me nostalgic; back in the 70s & 80s, before cable and vcrs in every home, Disney *never* aired their classics on television, except for the occasional clip compilation special for "Wonderful World of Disney". A Disney classic re-release was a major event.

@dukes0916

I know! I mean, its not like he hasn't been doing voice acting for OVER 30 years! (I still remember him as 'Carlton your doorman' from the Rhoda show! By the... did you ever see the old Bakshi's Mighty Mouse, that spoofs Sat. morn. Cartoons? It's a riot... and they actually got Music to do the voices in the RGB spot! (All of them!) Side note... Didn't they have to call themselves the 'REAL' Ghostbusters because of the other show with the same name? (Which ironically... came out first!)

as for ROB...yeah, he was their Trojan horse if you will. Nintendo knew that after the game crash, stores would be leery about game systems...so ROB was added to kind of fool retailers into thinking the main focus was ROB, and then once people saw the games , they would want the system. He played Gyromite and I forget the other game. Originally there was supposed to have been a piano keyboard also, and I think a typing keyboard..can't remember. I saw it at Nintendo world in NYC...continued

The commercials may have been cheesy as hell, and while I wasn't alive at the time the 80s were around (born in late 1990), they were actually fun and were appealing. The Nintendo commercial IMO was the most enjoyable I though, although the concept of Fruit Wheats had be laughing.

You know, when I watched that Nintendo commercial, I couldn't help thinking if the people who came up with it had "Aliens" on the brain when they were pitching ideas for it.

@Furiousblue42 If this is meant to be a response to my "Uh, good luck trying to sell an NES for 13 thousand." comment, note that I was referring to the actual game system...which was mass produced in vast quantities and one of the biggest selling items of the decade. A regular NES console isn't worth 13k, and Stadium Events is considered the rarest game released for the system, with only 20 or so believed to be sold before being recalled.

Toys R Us is still around in Canada and will most likely return to the U.S. in the form of boutique stores. It's not dead by any means.

@@80sCommercialVault Oh, I meant because I used to work for them in 2015 and they had become a gross shadow of their former selves (as promoted by all the commercials) by the time of their bankruptcy. I don't expect they'll recover meaningfully any time exceptionally soon.

@brucesv912 I had laser tag. Only problem is I only had one set. None of my friends had it. So the best I could do is set up the sensor as a stationary target.
