I remember watching Oliver and company with my school! ...I miss the 80's! Especially 80's tv , it's amazing how different television is now with all the reality tv rubbish...I dont think that television could ever go back to how good it was in the 80's..

Thank goodness for channels like Me TV and Antenna TV! They have brought back many of the great TV shows from the 1970's and 80's (and even earlier), and in many TV markets one of the local stations carries them on a digital subchannel.

Yeah, we basically recorded the whole night of NBC, spanning two tapes. I've been posting commercials from the second tape for a while now, but I only recently found the first tape in storage.

I think my mom took me and my sister to both movies on the same day, but I can only really remember watching "The Land Before Time". Probably because "Sharptooth" scared the crap out of me.

That Amtrak commercial is awesome, it gives me goosebumps. They really need to make more commercials like this today. Great video!

every i have to agree. They really put time and effort in to making these commercials. They had themes and were basically mini films.

All aboard America... ALL ABOARD THE SUPER TURBO TRAIN THAT JUMPS! (if your actual set jumped as well as it did in that commercial!) Now THAT'S a spirit journey! While you come home to the best on NBC from the cold in your Cressida and experiencing the "vibrating" back scratcher! Nobody can say no to "COCO!"

That sounds like Martin Sheen's voice in the Toyota commercial.

At 2:32, we see part of a deleted scene from "The Land Before Time". That scene was part of an extension from Littlefoot's mother and Sharp Tooth battling. There was about 26 minutes of deleted scenes. Don Bluth intended for it to be PG but Lucas and Speilberg had scenes that they thought were inappropriate for younger viewers deleted so the movie could be rated G. Don Bluth wanted the scenes to stay but he was overruled. According to Don Bluth, the scenes no longer exist.

I still how the hell ALF took off as a show. Even today, it's a puzzler.

Oh, and I would have thought that NBC would be permanently adverse to airing any commercial with the words "Super" and "Train" in close proximity to each other.

3:25--She starred in "The Electric Company", which is probably my favorite "kiddie" show EVER! She was also in a Miracle Whip commercial that I absolutely loved, which aired in 1982 or 1983. I sure hope that ad turns up on one (or more) of these volumes that I haven't watched yet.

@@timothysprengeler4071 She did indeed! That's where I know her from. :) Watching that show growing up in the 70s, I honestly felt like all the adults on that show were just friends on the other side of the TV screen. For some reason "Winnie" (good ol' Judy Graubart) was the one I resonated with most.

Today, I am wishing a happy 30th birthday to both Oliver & Company (from Walt Disney Pictures) and The Land Before Time (an Lucas/Spielberg presentation of a Don Bluth film). Both of these films are still enjoyable today to kids and adults, so I am wishing the very best to those classics and hoping you can wish them the same, thank you. 🥳 0:00 Oliver and Company TV Spot 2:26 The Land Before Time TV Spot

The milk ad provides a reminder about how much life sucked before cell phones. Between the Rayovac ad, with people just wandering into the house, and the Dial ad, with everyone interrupting the date, the 80s don't seem like a good time to have friends. It's a statement to how weak Disney was in the 80s that another animated movie came out the same day as "Oliver & Company". That would all change a year later with "The Little Mermaid".

@gleeb0278 At the end of Vol. 76 there's an ad for car CD players that aired in 1984. Definitely uncommon back then, but they've been around for a while.

I loved NY Seltzer! Cherry-lime riccie got me through the day! Kind of fell off the map though, didn't it! Always thought the Snapple craze had something to do with their demise!

VO: Martin Sheen for Toyota. The ubiquitous Larry Santos singing the Amtrak jingle. I think that's Will Patton from Remember the Titans in the Sine-Aid ad.

@80sCommercialVault...No kidding! A very expensive option at that time, I'm guessing....as the first time I remember seeing a CD player in a car was the late 90s.

Wow, batteries in a "vibrating backscratcher" that turn people on...I guess that's not such a subtle hint as to what they were good for. But yes the Land before time and Oliver and Co. were both very good movies, I'd still watch em today.

Really? A CD Player in a Toyota in 1988? Seems very top-of-the line...my first car was a 1994 Saturn and there was no CD player...

Lets not forget this was in the 80's no one back then had cellphones, They existed but mind you they were WAAY over priced and no one could afford them back then. Hell not even in the 90's were cellphones that popular, in the 90's beepers/pagers were the "in" thing, it wasn't until 2000 or even 2001 that cellphones became something that everyone in a household had, even an 11 year old which baffles me, what the hell does an a 11 year old need with a cellphone, how friggin important can they be?

It is now called Chuck E. Cheese. I believe those were originally 2 separate chains which merged, and they phased out the Showbiz brand and rebranded them all as Chuck E. Cheese.
