These commercials aired on WKBD in August of 1982
1. Pizza Hut (The girl answering the phone is Ally Sheedy)
2. Promo for "Bill Kennedy At The Movies: Hitler's Children" (I mean HITLER'S KIDDIES!)
3. Corey Dinettes
4. P&P Cycle Products
5. Promo for "Star Trek" (For those curious, the footage here is taken primarily from S3E6 "Spectre Of The Gun")
6. Burger King Tiger Glasses (With Detroit Tigers Announcer Ernie Harwell)
7. Highland Superstore 2 Day Sale
8. Wrangler Sale at Hudson's Rainbow Store
9. "The Benny Hill Show" End Credits
10. Field Communications Bumper
11. Fisher VCR at Coleman Rent To Own
12. Promo for "Invitation To A Gunfighter"
13. After Hours (Partial)
14. Lee
15. Murray's Discount Auto Stores
16. Promo for "Hogan's Heroes" and "In Search Of"
17. Highland Superstore 2 Day Sale
18. Gardner White Furniture Bassett Bargain Days U.S.A. Sale
19. P&P Cycle Products

23. Pabst Blue Ribbon
24. Coleman Rent To Own
25. Richard's Boys and Girls Wear
26. University of Michigan Hospitals Careers In Focus
27. Foster Parents Plan
28. Promo for "Bill Kennedy At The Movies: Destination Tokyo" (Bill Kennedy was an actor in the 40's and 50's and he actually had a small part IN this movie! He hosted this show from 1969 until his retirement in 1983. The promos for his show in the next few volumes are all AMAZING)
29. Promo for "I'll Take Sweden" (Partial)
30. TV Spot for "The Last American Virgin"
31. Perry Drugs
32. Intellivision (With George Plimpton)
33. Tri-County Pontiac Dealers

35. Burger King Tiger Glasses (With Ernie Harwell)
36. TV Spot for "The Incubus"
37. Highland Superstore
38. TV Spot for "The Soldier"

Every time I see a Pizza Hut commercial from the 80s, I'm not only reminded of how much better their pizza used to be, but of the many Friday nights my family spent there to celebrate the weekend. I remember the Book-It Program, which was an elementary school reading program that encouraged kids to read more by offering coupons for personal pan pizzas if they read a certain number of books. But I mostly miss those sit down restaurants they used to have. It's sad to see them mostly replaced with the fast food-style pick up restaurants and food stands they have now.

Whoever recorded these in 1982 must have been loaded! Very high-quality VCR and apparently subscribed to cable TV - in 1982! Another great commercial set for 80sCommercialVault and great quality. Thank you so much!

The Benny Hill end credits with the announcer saying the Three Stooges were on next made me smile -- I grew up in Detroit in the '80s and on Friday nights my dad would let me stay up late to watch the Three Stooges, although I was still a bit too little to do that in 1982 (it came on at midnight and even a few years later I didn't always make it). I also definitely watched a lot of Star Trek on WKBD with him -- those are some of my earliest memories. They showed reruns (and later first run TNG and DS9 eps) all through the '90s.

Seeing these commercials for local businesses. I can't help to think how expensive it would have been to do that back in 1982. Compared to now.

The sheer amount of people that watched TV back then and the lack of any serious competition with big box retailers more than justified what the ad buys cost.

The Last American Virgin, I will never forget that ending.

I'm from Flint and we got a lot of the Detroit channels, including WKBD 50. My mom adored Bill Kennedy at The Movies and we saw a lot of movies on his show. Ah memories.

The guy in the Pizza Hut ad looks very much like Larry Cedar of Square One TV fame. The Soldier was a real badass movie. But these commercials showed all the best parts! I'm looking forward to more of Bill Kennedy.

#1 - Waitaminnit. Wasn't the other dude (just after Ally answered the phone) Larry Cedar from Square One TV?

Star Trek-good episode After Hours-Charlene"Iv'e Never Been To Me"..huh? In Search Of-soon to be returning to television and hosted by Nimoy's successor as Spock,Zachary Quinto The Last American Virgin-ending was like a punch to the gut Underground Man-the killer must be stashing the dead bodies in the sewers The Incubus-speaking of endings i certainly didnt see that twist coming..

After Hours was a compilation of top 40 radio hits from early-mid 1982. Charlene's song came out in 1977 and just barely made the Hot 100 but got airplay again in early-mid 1982 and hit top 10.

The Highland commercial saying about "the thing is back" and the scene being a shot of a man in an operating room almost mirrors the iconic scene from the movie with the defibrillator. The Thing came out in 82...I can't remember what date. Probably just a coincidence but it shot right in my brain haha.

The Thing did come out in June of '82 (but was not a hit at the box office) The commercial/ad campaign is probably referencing it but the defibrillator thing is probably just a coincidence.

This is before my time, so it's kinda baffling to me that Pizza Hut commercials used to have strange country flare with the jingle singer. Like, it seems like an odd choice for a *pizza* chain...
@80sCommercialVault

Pizza Hut never had an Italian aesthetic (the first restaurants were started in Kansas). The interior of the restaurants back then also had kind of a rustic/country vibe with a lot of wood.
