These commercials aired on NBC on October 14th, 1989
1. "ALF: The Animated Series" Commercial Bumper
2. Radio Shack R/C Off Roadsters
3. Pizza Hut (With "The Land Before Time" puppets)
4. "ALF: The Animated Series" Commercial Bumper
5. U.S. Stamps (STAMPS, YO!)
6. Super Star Barbie
7. Golden Grahams
8. Turbo Tricksters
9. Frosted Flakes (With free Frisbee Flyer)
10. Pocket Rockers
11. Promo for "Kissyfur" (More weird cartoons I've never heard of)
12. Super Golden Crisp
13. "ALF: The Animated Series" End Credits
14. Capri Sun
15. McDonald's (With Halloween Happy Meal Pails! They had these same pails every Halloween for a number of years after this)
16. Promo for "ALF Tales" (Yes, there were actually TWO different ALF cartoons airing in 1989)
17. "The New Archies" Commercial Bumper
18. Barbie Soda Shoppe
19. Dance Club Barbie (You can really see that early 90's "Saved By The Bell" aesthetic taking shape)
20. Promo for "The Cosby Show"
21. United Way Alzheimer's PSA
22. "The New Archies" Commercial Bumper
23. Hot Wheels Micro Racers (Obviously their attempt to compete with Galoob's Micro Machines, which were HUGE at this time)
24. Promo for "Sister Kate" (This show ran for one season. You'll see more from it in a little bit)
25. Peace Corps PSA
26. Promo for "Wheel Of Fortune" (Wow, this is bizarre. I probably would have watched this more as a kid if they had "Gremlins"-esque puppets laughing maniacally in the audience...heckling Pat Sajak and wolf whistling at Vanna White)
27. Lil Miss Dress Up
28. Showbiz Pizza
29. Promo for "The Cosby Show"
30. WDIV Time To Care PSA
31. "The New Archies" Commercial Bumper/End Credits (The intro to this is pretty amazing: • Video )

33. Detroit Free Press International Marathon PSA
34. Promo for "Fame & Fortune"
35. Promo for "Camp Candy"
36. NBC Saturday Morning Interstitial (Featuring Jason Priestly, a year before "Beverly Hills, 90210")

44. Promo for "Brand New Life" (Another short-lived NBC series with a future 90210 star, Jennie Garth)

I remember those McDonald's Halloween pails, had the pumpkin. Such simpler times when a trip to McDonald's was a big deal. Can we please go back to those days, if only for a little while.

Going to Pizza Hut to get those “puppets” was a big childhood event. Truly. Ask any 80s kid. They remember that trip.

I remember that Showbiz Pizza commercial also had a variation for Chuck E. Cheese back in the day, which was the exact same commercial, only with a few alterations. (A "mouse" instead of a "bear".) Lots of great memories here. Happy to have grown up during this time. Thanks so much.

6:21- Oh my God, I didn't know McDonalds partnered with Silver Shamrock. Pumpkin, witch and skull, the three masks from Halloween III!
@80sCommercialVault
@80sCommercialVault 5 лет назад
The white pail is actually a ghost. I'm guessing a skull was too macabre for a McDonald's Happy Meal.

Seeing these rare NBC Saturday Morning bumpers from '89 reminded me how fast they quit showing cartoons and doing more live action stuff in the early 90s. At least CBS and ABC (and later FOX) would still have them a few more years. The "Wheelies??" what the...?

The Showbiz Pizza/Chuck E. Cheese history is complicated: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ShowBiz_Pizza_Place Both restaurants were owned by Showbiz Pizza at this point, which is why they used the same jingle in their advertising. Eventually all of the Showbiz Pizza locations became Chuck E. Cheese's.

Night Burners-title wouldve been good for a 80s action show about car racing Sister Kate-it's "Gimme A Break!" but with a nun instead of Nell Carter The Cosby Show-wonder how Bill will be spending his Halloween next week.. New Archies-imagine if the CW's Riverdale had a similar opening lol
@Farzee49
@Farzee49 5 лет назад
In "Gimmie A Break" Nell Carter was a housekeeper for a widower and his 3 daughters...not similar to "Sister Kate" at all
@Farzee49

Police Academy action figures @17:09 such a strange transition this movie series made --from a raunchy R rated adult comedy to kids toy tie in!

Wow, didn't know there was an animated series! Why? lol
@80sCommercialVault
@80sCommercialVault 5 лет назад
Only the original movie was rated R. The first sequel was rated PG-13 and the third movie and all subsequent sequels were rated PG. By 1989 they were essentially family comedies aimed at 8-12 year old boys. An animated series made perfect sense given the direction the movies went.

I remember Kissyfur and the two different Alf shows neither of which were as good as the sitcom. I think one of them had to do with his life on Melmac and the other one took place on Earth.

The blonde in the Dance Club Barbie commercial played Margaux Kramer on "Punky Brewster" (of course I can't recall her real name now...) and why did the singers of the song in that commercial sound like Jem and the Holograms?!
@WickedWonder1979
@WickedWonder1979 5 лет назад
Margaux's actress was Ami Foster. I'm full of useless facts.
