Good list, I Like Exodus, Nuclear Assault, Slayer & Toxic, ive Done Reviews for them also. most of the other bands i didn't know or never got into. Bonded by Blood is Good But the band for me sounds best with steve Zetro
Well… I’ve just done a response to the Metal Mickey ‘10 x Death Metal 90s albums’ thread… so looks like I’ve got another response to get involved in now! Pretty much all of those albums you showed were massive… massive albums for me growing up! Superb stuff Thomas!🤘🏻
Oh man, I was just watching your response. I felt I was already a little too late to join this one, and there you go and make a response, haha. Well, at least people can do the topic again, but with thrash metal! Would love to see you do one about thrash metal too. Knowing you, you could show the "Stars on Thrash" comp and be done with it, lol. Cheers Marc 🤘
Good take on this Thomas. Some outstanding choices. And yes good point about the Eastern European scene. Although albums from over there, especially from the 80s aren't the easiest to come across, unless you specifically go and looking for them. Why not have 11 choices, I don't think there should be rigid rules on this sort of thing.
The Eastern Euro scene is pretty obscure, but if you manage to find that stuff it ain't that expensive! Russian stuff is known for being cheap, but pretty rare outside of Europe. I indeed could've included more, as thrash has even more to offer than just these ten. These were just my best picks. Thanks for watching man 🤘
80's thrash in the title got me interested straight away. New to "Bonded By Blood ", but two minutes in loved it straight away. It kills me i never bought that Assassin record when i had the chance. Some really superb stuff from your collection Thomas.
Would love to see a response, there is just so much great thrash out there! For the first one, it was either Reign in Blood or Master of Puppets for me, but Slayer had the edge for me. Cheers man 🤘
Cheers man, always good to hear from you. I really enjoyed the thread and all the videos but I thought this twist was better instead of another one repeating a lot. Hope you're doing alright there 🤘
1. Master of Puppets 2. Reign in Blood 3. Sadus - Illusions 4. Atheist - Piece of Time 5. Beneath the Remains 6. Destruction - Eternal Devastation 7. Blood Feast - Kill For Pleasure 8. Kreator - Pleasure to Kill 9. Exodus - Bonded by Blood 10. Coroner - No More Color HM: Metal Church - Metal Church Believer - Extraction From Mortality Voivod - Dimension Hatross
Nice twist on the topic and one I can actually watch and appreciate!! lol . Great video Thomas, I'm with you on Exodus, I have a few albums but the debut is all I need. I think I'd struggle to define thrash metal in 10 albums and not just pick my favourite 10 which would probably leave the aliens more confused about what thrash is then when they started...
Hi Thomas!! this idea can go now in different "musical" directions.... cool seeing your list of awesome thrash albums and showing a couple of lesser know bands like Assasin, Shah and the bonus one.... cheers and be well
Yeah, this topic idea could easily be used for different genres! I felt the death metal one was done already so I showed some thrash, haha. Hope you enjoyed it Cristian, always good to hear from you.
Nice idea! Dyoxin, hell yeah... I even have a CDr of the album in my kitchen, hahaha.... I have a friend that also thinks Assassin´s debut is the best German Thrash album. Didn´t expect that Shah album, I have a couple of their albums and they´re all pretty good.
Dyoxen needs some love, never seen anyone show them. Perhaps you could argue there are better German thrash album, but the Assassin one is a personal favorite! Instead of Shah, I was initially going to show Arakain, but that's 90's! If I could recommend one without the era, I'd say Aspid from Russia! Now that's a gem!
Awesome idea for a follow up thread Tom! I love how you split it up into the different sectors of Thrash like Bay area, UK, Teutonic etc, really good idea. I'll try my best to jump on this if I can, I haven't got tones of 80's Thrash albums, I'll see what I can do. Great idea man 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Man, I could include even more variants! The bonus one, Canadian thrash, Brazilian thrash, black/thrash, death/thrash, even the groovier stuff! However I think I summed it up pretty well in general. You could probably do it man, just show in ten albums what thrash is to you, haha. Cheers Josh!
@@mercyfulmetal7324 Ah Yeah, damn there's so many different variants and scenes! It's hard to depict all that in just 10 albums. So Yeah, you did a great job man! Yeah ok man I'll give it a try, I need to see if I have 10 80's Thrash albums. I might have to use the same band twice if that's alright, I'll see what I can do 😁😊🤘
@@mercyfulmetal7324 I prefer 'Skeptics...' too, but 'Unstoppable...' is good. I saw Exodus live with Rob Dukes once... it was okay, but he was not a high energy frontman.
Killer spin! Agree with that Exodus, you only need the debut. Great pick on Assassin, anything with a tank on it is good. The Force, another great pick. Man Toxik are sorely messed from my collection, I don't have either album - want the OGs! Love that Agent Steel too.
I was lucky to find both OG Toxik albums together for a good price! Surprises me a guy like you don't have them yet. Tanks are good, yes. Do you like the band Tank as well? Hahaha. Cheers Simon 🤘
@@mercyfulmetal7324 yeah, the Toxik have not shown up locally for a lonnnnnng time! I might break down and import, we will see haha. Haha okay, maybe not TANK the band, but most tank covers RULE.
Good spin on the idea T. Totally agree with the difference in styles it was a great way to break everything up. Even though I'm not big on Reign in Blood I think I'd still include it. It's just the definition of the genre. I will have a think and do a response video.
Man, there are even more styles I could've included, this was the best I could do for myself with ten albums. I guess most people could drop the East Euro thrash and replace it with black/thrash or the Canadian or Brazilian stuff or something. Would love to see your twist on this one man.
Great twist Thomas. Some absolute classics in amongst this lot. Only downside is a lot of the more obscure stuff you show is so dam expensive to source physically 😂 Prime example being that Dyoxen album, haven't heard that for years so thanks for the reminder, and the potential shortfall in cash trying to find a copy 😊
The more obscure stuff being more expensive is the biggest struggle of my collection, as I mostly focus on that stuff, haha. From what I remember, Dyoxen shouldn't be too crazy expensive. It depends wether you can find a good deal from where you live I guess. I do hope you find one eventually, it's a banger! Cheers man 🤘
Loved this mate. Fantastic bunch of records as usual! That Dyoxen is still underrated, great bonus choice! I have not played it in a while, gonna pull it out. Id love a copy of that Assassin record. This vid could tip me onto a Thrash binge very easily ha! Superb stuff Tomas and good to see ya man!
Cheers Jason, always good to hear from you. You never see people show Dyoxen, very underrated thrash. Give it a spin mate, let that kick off a thrash binge for you, hahaha. You know I actually have two copies of that Assassin album, one is a reissue. It was the first ever vinyl record I got, back in like 2012 for my birthday. I will never do that one away, but then I came across an OG of it, and I love the album so much, I grabbed that too!
I had some albums that were head on to pick. If I could do this video again, I could pick all different albums and still have solid picks, haha. Master of Puppets, The Legacy, Pleasure to Kill. I feel this one is a little more viable than the death metal one. I'd probably replace the East Euro stuff with something Brazilian! Cheers man 🤘
If you are a Baloff guy, and I'm sure you already have it but "Another Lesson in Violence" live album from '97 is a masterpiece. IMO I take it over "Bonded by Blood" because the sound quality is so much better and Paul's banter between the tracks is gold. I live right by the studio where "Bonded by Blood" was recorded.
@@mercyfulmetal7324 Awesome, you're going to love it. Baloff also does the songs he wrote for "Pleasures of the Flesh" before they kicked him out of Exodus. It's so heavy.
Assassin rules.. nothing is better than that album in 86 if you asked me. Onslaught The Force is next.. haha, ok nothing is better. hahaha. such a classic. Never heard of Shaw so I will check them out. TOXIK.. Think This is a beast. Milk, oh yes MILK.. Agent Steal is a great pick, when I was young I thought they was Germany and it was some time later that I found out the are from LA. SADUS, an album I try to play bass along with and fail miserably. I will check out the bonus. Great take on this thread.
I am not even trying to begin with the DiGiorgio stuff on bass, lol. Love him in Death too. Assassin definitely has the best thrash release of 86 for me, but there are just so many good ones from that year. Shah is worth checking out man, as well as Dyoxen in the background. You still gonna do a response or don't you have the time for that now with the situation?
You're totally right man! I could also do black/thrash, death/thrash, the Canadian scene, the Brazilian one, groove/thrash. It's hard to capture it in ten albums, but this was the best I could for me personally. Thrash is awesome.
