I’ve just bought a 1995 80 series with 315,000km on her two months ago. I don’t use my LPG reserve tank at all and I keep it on empty. When my fuel gauge (main tank) is on empty and I go to full up, it only takes 45L. I’ve read the manual and watched your videos and it says it has a 93L main tank and 45L reserve tank. Mates have said the float inside the tank or the fuel sender. Wanted to know if you had any ideas before getting it properly checked. Enjoy all your videos, cheers old mate.

I agree with your mates, it could be the float/sender unit has gone bad. Make sure though your main tank is still oem and not an aftet market bigger tank that the sender was not calibrated right.

Hey mate, bought a 1fzfe about 3 months ago. Filled the sub tank to full however over time the needle has gradually dropped down to below half and I have not pressed the sub tank button. Any ideas mate?

Could be a few issues 1 Could be weeping 2 Pump is running slowly draining the sub 3 could be the sender is stuffed Start with that lot and see what you find

Hi mate i watched your video thanks i now understand only questions is. Do you know how easy the prado 50 lt sub tank swap is you explained your 80 has it and it was done before you bought it but thought you might have some idea. Trying to source a petrol sub tank as i am removing the gas system, just looking into options thanks

I am led to believe the Prado tank does fit the 80, but it depends on model year of your 80. 92-94 pre face lift, 94-97/8 face lift. Mine was a Oct 93

Hey mate my petrol 80 sub tank is full and when I push the sub tank button the light stays on for only a few seconds and turns off again. Is it still transferring fuel or is it not working?

If you cannot hear the transfer pump running it is not functioning If you are more than 2/3s full transfer will not work
