I'd have called her "Becky 2: Electric Boogaloo!" This is the closest I've seen Hasbro to just give up. My guess is they saw how saturated the market was with Arcee. (She's quickly passing Soundwave and approach Bee and OP levels of remolds.) Even if they wanted to they couldn't engineer her differently from Earthrise or the Bumblebee movie. So they decided to steer into the skid. They are banking that once you have the other character in MPM form, you'll come back to Arcee to complete the set. (Jokes on them. Bionicle broke me of that habit back in 2006!) I'm happy subbing which ever Arcee I like. And there are a lot of them. Better luck next time, which will probably be the next toyline in 5 months.
We own the generations Arcee, we actually got it a couple years back on sale at BBTS with some other generations figures. I feel like we're getting less for more. Quality has definitely been trending downward, asking with QC. Reddit had people finding their Netflix Soundwaves are yellowing. I got worried checked and yeah, I'm lucky that while it's happening it's limited in scope and severity ( for now ).
I have joked "Hasbro doesn't know what QC is!" because 3rd Party and Bandai have it much better. Also I know of 1 Bandai Hand Gernade (RG Zeta) but Hasbro has it in mitiple ways. Hasbro, use better color seperation to make it cheeper and better.
This SS86 Arcee is pretty cool. Like how this is retooled from the Generations Thrilling 30 Arcee. I honestly like this shade of pink. But yeah, more weapons would have been nice. Like the pink gun and rifle from the Masterpiece Arcee.
Personally, I'm just considering driving out the pin of the ER Arcee and just turning her into a "Red" figure with an upgrade kit. I always find the massive backpack a lot of G1 inspired Arcee figs have, a massive distraction for me.
The Earthrise Arcee is without a doubt an awful, terrible, absolutely wretched Transformer that isn't even worth taking out or robot mode, but on the flip side I will always stand my ground that she is honestly the best Arcee action figure we've gotten. If you take off the backpack and replace it with your decorative wings of choosing she really is fantastic as just a poseable representation of the character. The fact you can have her posed beside her car mode is actually fun choice of display. It sucks that she's a god-awful Transformer, but it's at least nice that she's a really good action figure.
Fun fact the first arcee toy was a very very slight retool transmetal 2 blackarachnia. Why was it slightly remolded? We’ll become the og transmetal 2 blackarachnia had a rather interesting gimmick.
Hastak’s price gouging since siege has been really grinding my gears. Why the fuck are they not only charging double the price for figures of the same quality and size as thrilling 30s for double the price, and rereleasing old figures for the same price as now. Inflation has not halved the value of the Canadian, let alone American dollar, so how are they justifying these prices? Like setting the new benchmark back in siege should have been kept for like a decade before the next price hike. I spent 37 CAD on speedia Blurr the other day, and 45 on Buzzsaw. What happened to the days of deluxes costing 20 CAD and that was it? 30 CAD for 20 CAD TR deluxes my ass. This is ridiculous.
@@BlitzkriegOmega The portion of customers that get priced out need to do a better job choosing hobbies they can afford. Inflation is a real thing, no matter how much we don’t like it, and the increased costs of materials, operations, labor, marketing, and distribution has to eventually trickle down to the consumer.
@@JROD082384 Inflation is real, but the cost of everything not just Transformers is being gouged significantly higher than inflation. I really notice this working in a Starbucks kiosk for only like 10 months, because every few months they raise the prices again without even letting us know. We find out when customers complain, and then buy it anyway because they are addicted to sugar or caffeine. In this period of 10 months the prices of almost everything we sell went from good or a little high, to just ok or really bad.
@@JROD082384 There's a difference between actual inflation (which tends to be less than 3% a year) and "Using a global crisis to gouge your customer base". Yes, the Pandemic caused a big inflationary surge, which should have only accounted for maybe a 10% rise in prices, but it was paired up with Big Businesses gaining an excuse to pump up the price of basically everything by 30% or more because they *can*.

I never saw the old one in stores, so I'm tempted to get this one and give her Laser Prime's sword. Also, I think they should've gone further with beefing up her forearms so they could add wrist swivels
id say now that the ss86 arcee is so discounted on amazon, that one is probably the better choice now considering its practically a core class in price
I already have a Takara Arcee so this is a pretty easy skip. If I ever see it on clearance I might buy one to display them in different modes but if I can’t then I won’t lose any sleep over it.
when learned about the Studio Series version was remade from the Thrilling 30 and that BigBadToy Store had the latter still instate I went for the old one. Studio's may have ankle tilt but Thrilling 30 has the ability to cross their legs and a lager accessory count.
Another thing in favor of the 86 is that if you live somewhere where BBTS shipping is a lot (Like me in Hawaii where it's $15 to ship anything from bbts) finding it in stores will be saving a pretty penny for a nearly identical experience. That extra $15 can easily go towards toyhaxing or even an upgrade kit.
Interesting. Yeah, I didn't even realize that would be a problem. And I guess that's a fine place for this figure to exist. It's a cheap alternative to the thing it's almost identical too.
Agreed on the Arcee assessment. Ab joint QC is apparently a gamble, as I definitely needed to put some floor polish in there to keep the pelvis from disengaging when ... anything was moved. However, she can do an excellent "hunched over with hands clawing in front of her in order to scare children" pose now.
I don't see it as particularly obvious my self. Like yes you can tell what part they are, but you can do that with most characters. Like Optimus's bed is clearly made out of his legs, but I don't think in practice they are obviously legs.
@@PerspectiveEnd I like the brighter pink of the t30 and even if arcee doesn't use swords or the dildo gun, that's more for the same price, I'm sure I can find some figures to pawn em off on lol I was really confused when this was first announced because people were all over the place with declaring what it was and wasn't, your video did a great job breaking down what was basically the same and what was new
I am a little tempted to get this at some point, but seeing as how I do have the Generations Arcee with the Platinum deco, I'm in no rush to get one at the minute
I got mine yesterday, in the UK - wasn't even expecting her to be released here yet! - and... it has QC issues. One of her arms constantly pops off at the elbow :/
Really? I would have thought it was the shoulder. I didn't even realize it could come off there at all, kind of though it was pinned. Sorry to hear about yours.
I get what they were going for with the pink, but it is still boring, and the gun is so lame, straight copy stolen from the other figure and only one of them.
Also the fact that they had the option to include her screen accurate red visor shown in the 86 movie like the one included with hot rods 86 figure and they just decided it wasn’t worth the effort :/
The most interesting thing about this figure is that they’re retooling a figure this old, to the point of using the same parts, at normal retail. I can think of them doing that for repaints a few times like the armada beasts(technically retools because they added minicon pegs, shut up), but never like this
@@PerspectiveEnd bruh it’s insane. Last month I believe was prime and cyclonus along with their repaints. Just now releasing is arcee and grimlock with their repaints. Finally they’ve announced and already have had people review/show off Jetfire and inferno.
The original T30 Arcee never came out in New Zealand, but I grabbed her and Chromia (the retool of Prime Arcee) of BBTS back when their international shipping was actually cheaper than buying my own Transformers factory, so I think I'll stick with that one. Probably would have grabbed this one in a world where the internet didn't exist though assuming we ever start getting new waves again.
Wish it couldve been a new mold as for how good the old figure is, its still a big shellformer and they couldve made a better effort to reduce the backpack
Another Arcee, another reminder how good the Animated figure was. Maybe this figure will speak to me when I see it in person like Kickback did but I don't think I have any reason to get this. And it's sad I can't recommend the Animated as easy because the price on ebay now is absolutely ridiculous. So...Yeah I'm gonna have to go with..Teacher Becky? Aunt Becky? I can't think of anything better than that
To be honest i had no clue the 86 arcee was anything other than a repaint of the earthrise arcee. That mold being so garbage i ignored the 86 version. I have the generations takara version so i'll honestly stick with it.
So........ According to the early drafts of transformers the movie at tfnation there was some unique things like 1: there was an autobot snake train boi, 2: 2 other autobots one of them looking like a steam punk bot, 3: the sweeps were supposed to have mono eyes and were black 4: kup was supposed to an autobot tank veteran named tanker (i need a toy of this design) 5: wheeljack was supposed to be in the main cast 6: kranix was supposed to fight the sharkticon then get eaten..... tbh thats a way to go out 7: the quintissons did not look like eggs 8: ultra magnus looked like a more red and blue version of orion pax with spikes 9: instead of the matrix it was supposed to be rhe spirit of optimus and some crap alongside the spirit of megs 10: ok this was not part of the early drafts at tfnation but according to one of the writers said that skylynx and predaking were supposed to be in the movie but the predacons were going to be autobots and skylynx was going to be a decepticon 11: the sharkticons had peach lips 12: the last and weird one of them all remember when i said wheeljack was going to be part of the original cast............ Well he was going to be sexist to arcee....... say what now!? and he was going to be one of arcee's love intrests WHAT IS GOING ON?!? and he apologizes to arcee on being sexist in the end...... thats his arc this entire movie realizing girl power.........WAT! 13: you know the corination starscream design??? Well the seeker trio all original were gonna have that design except the shoulder pads and cape were in their colour scheme 14: a junkion design looked like if a german soldier became a biker and was named scrapo 15: galvatron was in his original toy colour scheme before changing to just purple
I was thinking of getting this figure but I’ve just decided to have Legacy be my Arcee. Also Sludge rules, Motormaster rules, and IDW Blurr is better than 86.
Sludge is soo good isn't he! Also Legacy can't be your Arcee, because they just aren't the same character. Primecee is blatantly supposed to be Chromia.
I honestly thimk the backpack is better than T30 - it IS a tiny bit longer, but significantly narrower, to show less in a mostly frontal robot mode display. Overall, though, I mostly concur - she's a minor improvement on T30 at most, and the Takara version is an even closer race. I don't regret getting her as well, but probably won't buy another version at this point unless they branch out to, like, the Terminator crossover comic's earth mode for her, and not being a big comics fan even that is iffy..
I don't find it to be a tiny bit longer, More significantly longer, but yes it is a bit slimmer. This isn't a bad figure, I just think it's a bit superfluous. I did really like her Design in Vs the Terminator.
Yeah this is the best mainline arcee. The ER had a decent robot mode but that’s about it, the generations one is fine but has a lot of limitations and honestly the hips look bad. This one looks better, poses better, I like the colors better, the transformation is more fun and involved, and overall it feels like the most definitive version of the character we’ve gotten in the mainline. I was skeptical when they first revealed her but she has easily taken the spot of definitive arcee on the shelf, and it makes me SUPER excited for ironhide.
It's a good figure for sure. It's just a little bit Superfluous when it's not different enough to the Gencee, but it's not the same enough to just be a Rerelease.
Great review PerspectiveEnd!!! I can forgive the flaws of this figure, since I am just happy to have a more G1 accurate Arcee figure then what we got with Earthrise/Kingdom. lol Keep on being amazing.
Velocitron 500 has landed in Australia. Was lucky enough to be able to get the 2 figures I really wanted for my Shattered Glass collection: Hauler (SG Grapple) and Burn Out (SG Skids). Was also hoping for Clampdown however he and Cosmos had completely sold out before I arrived (the day they were stocked). There was 1 Burn Out, 1 Road Rocket, 2 Blurrs, 2 Haulers, 2 Overrides and 6 Scourges. Gotta love that distribution. Didn't buy Scourge as I have him on Pre Order for only $60 AUD thanks to a fluff up from EB Games.I'm glad I was able to get the ones I wanted at least.
I mean that sound about the same as it is here in the US, just Slightly later. I mean I only found that stuff like LAST week. So it's not even that much slower. Glad you found the stuff you wanted.
Apparently the rising prices are due to rising labor costs in china or Vietnam, so they have to charge more but can’t make figures better without raising the cost even more.
Oh, I legit thought this was just a kingdom repaint. Kinda surprised it's a gen rework. I definitely prefer the melon smashing thighs on the old, but the new non human waist makes me feel way less uncomfortable.
I know 80-'Cee is based on the T30 Arcee. We've all been over this. (And 86-16 is my chance to see what, in any small way, the T30 Arcee design is like.)
AGAAAAIIIN, I could let the weak tabbing of the waist slide IF THE TOLERANCES OF THE AB CRUNCH WOULD ALLOW IT. I would GLADLY sacrifice the ab crunch in order for the tab to be secure. (And that ab crunch is a joint I believe to be one of the MOST IMPORTANT joints for a figure to stand and pose well, alongside the knees and whatever else is the most important for that.)
At least unlike Starscream, he hasn't wasted his chance, so here's to hoping he gets redeemed here. Question is will he be a Commander-class coz he STILL needs to have the white Optimus mode he never had at all in the cartoon, or be a Leader that's a mini-MP, i.e. no inner cab robot.
I picked up his figure yesterday and she's... odd? She's better than the ER one, that's for sure. As I don't have the Generations one, I can't say anything about that figure so I can only compare her to the ER and LegArcee, despite the latter being a different design. I do much prefer the LegArcee, but the 86 one is okay for a G1 version
This is exactly why I don’t fret over missing a figure. They’re just going to re-release it, if not a little changed and at worse it’s a downgrade but it’s still a good way to beat the system
I have a figure I want to return that I bought on amazon, I have the box and everything that came inside, do I need to put the strings that hold the figure in place back on?
Nah. You just need to put it in a regular brown box that you can seal up, otherwise the UPS store you return it to will charge you for a box, and I've seen it be like 8 bucks for a box there.
In the words of emgo: "Who wore it better?" (Gencee) "Who wore it worse?" (80ceex) "Who's not wearing it at all?" (ERcee) This doesn't look any better than the gencee to me. I don't care about cartoon accuracy that much, so the non-takara gencee has the cooler colors (Try making a thew pun for cooler colors), has more accessories, and is just cheaper. Sounds like a pretty definite pass for me, hope this tickles more people's fancies than me.
@@PerspectiveEnd if it ain’t a masterpiece then it ain’t good enough and even the masterpiece had it’s issues actually when has there ever been a good Arcee .
@@PerspectiveEnd I was more into ninja turtles and power rangers at that time so I missed it until the prime wars was fizzleing out and siege was in it's later waves so 86 Arcee came home a month after my previous comment
But we all can agree this beats te shit out of the er in every single way, and people even found a way to partsform the new trunk so even that, ss86has less backpack same gimmicks and better everything compared to the er on, why the hell er arcee exists?
Duller than I'd hoped, but to be expected from a pre-modern mold, decent, but reused parts really makes the price insulting, as you said Deluxes used to be the most accessible
Generations Arcee, Animated Arcee, and Prime Arcee are the best Arcee figures. Oh and honorable mention to NICEE Arcee ;) I don't have the Bumblebee movie Arcee, so I can't determine
I think if the did what they did to 86 hotrod and have a flip out red visor and a second pistol or maybe a rifle this arcee might feel a bit better or more on par with generations.
That's the thing it's so hard to say. All the Arcees try to be so different typically it's hard to rate them, if you remember I made it a tie last time. So I'd say this is right there with the Gencee, just a little behind it.
