@bronco302EFI Simple, if you source a 302 with a tranny and xcase already attached. Biggest thing I ran into was the cross member to support it all. Custom driveshafts, little bit of cutting some welding and you're golden.
Great truck. I have one almost identical to yours. I noticed your gas needle was down. If its messed up I know how to fix it, mine had the same problem.. unfortunately its the fuel pump. You've gotta replace the whole assembly. And while your down there it wouldn't be a bad idea to replace the fuel filter as well, just be sure not to break the little plastic clips.
hey nice exhaust but i got an 87 ranger 2.9 5spd 4" lift i'm running dual exhaust from the motor into flowmaster and out with 3" pipes then dual out the rear end with 4" by 24" texas tips .... sounds mean !!!!!!
I swear everybody with that body style of ranger has that mossy oak steering wheel cover. mine had it when I bought it, so did my friends. Just watch out with that 2.9L those heads will warp and crack.
i got a ranger paid 5,000 for it i put 6 inch lift with 3 inch body 35s 4.0 push bar roll bar light right custom interior custom taillights getting projector headlights with hid kit its my mud toy-show truck lol
I have the same truck but on full size truck axles. Ford 9 in in the rear and dana 44 in the front straight axle on 35 13.50. With a 9 in lift. Its a great setup
I’ve got one same color combo just not lifted or on 35s lol. 5speed lock in hubs with 178,000 miles and still drives as smooth as any other truck on the road.
So, I've never understood why people get skyjacker. I have an "85 ranger sittin on BFG Mud terrains, 35x12.5 R15, with ONLY a 4 inch lift from Rough Country. That truck has 9" of lift, and mine sits just as high with only a 4"... ?????
I got the same ranger with the 2.9 4 inch lift with 33s also stock Dana 28 and I mud it and I never take it easy the only bad thing on these Dana 28 is 4x4 drive line and ball joints but for stock it does pretty good I got Dana 30s for mine but haven't got them switched over yet.
nice ass truck i like it i got a 1989 ford ranger you said u have to change the front and rear axle's y are they junk or u just have something better to replace them with?????
I have a ford ranger 2.9 lifters tick in it BAD, i absolutely HATE that motor with a passion... I have another 1989 ford ranger that is 4x4 4cyl. I want to change the cab over from my truck to the 4x4 truck and lift it. Only thing is the one thats not 4x4 is supercab short bed, other is regular cab long bed. Anyone know if the bolts would line up right? Measurements the same or close?
@russellmuscle93 your truck sounds like the same as my ranger 15's 31" tires 3 in body but i had to do something with the exhaust from straight pipe so i went with flowmaster 40
i got yeah y dont you just drop the gear ratio down to like 4.56 or 4.88 or something or are u talking about the axle itself not holding cuz on my 89 i wanna put in a 4 inch rough country and i will be able to clear 33 12;50 and i was told that i could go with 4.56 and that would be good at least that's what i have been told..
same as my truck, its just all stock though. god i love that thing. im thinking about putting a flowmaster on mine, but i dont really want to put in the effort to dual exhaust it. i would love to drop a 302 in it or somehow get more power, but i think it would be smarter to just upgrade and get a different truck
@Fc1wrestler for those 31s did u have to lift? cuz i wanna put 30s on my 92 4x4 xlt but it doesnt look like they would fit without rubbing? but do u think they would?
have the same exact truck with 33s and a 5-inch lift eventually will be on 35s might add another inch on the lift but she's in great condition 70k miles n never gettin rid of it lol do you still have it?
Nice Ranger, and a good trade btw!! Ive got an 89 Ranger Custom 4x4. Im running a '96 2.3L, '84 4spd, stock t-case, stock 7.5 and D28 open diffs with 4.10's, 3" body lift and little fender trimming, 35's. even with bald tires it will still go just about anywhere I point it.
