Wow! This was our Arsenio Hall show in 89'! We had the whole crew there,(El,Bunny, Randy, James, Marty, Tommy DeBarge, Dan and MC, including Jimmy Abney poppin' them drums! And yes, I was putting that funky mix on it! We had the crowd rocking and partying!! Thanks for the memories Albert!
I remember when he performed on Arsenio. Had many people talking about it, especially the dancers. He killed it. Still stands to be a great performance after all these years.
How is it that a person dances that hard, singing, and mind you, Sounds Great, and don't even have an ear piece in his ear and mot sound out of breath and hardly bursts a sweat!! That's #Greatness! Gotta love El!
trebo12 Yes indeed! We love this man! One thing I can say about El fans, we are loyal! His videos and music are the only ones I can look at and find 0 👎 thumbs down. If there are any, there aren't many. I live that! Underated he is but he was the joint in his day! I just hate he was off the seen so long, where the younger generation couldn't grab a hold of this mans greatness and what he and his family contributed to the music word. I'm just finding out this year how great of a musician, writer, and composer he was and still is this year! Bcuz he's always been in the forefront back in the day, with a microphone in his hand like in this video. I love the fact I'm still finding out more of his greatness in 2016! ;) I just posted some pics of a concert he did a few days ago on Google+. He still looking good and healthy. Love myself some #El.
ExtraChocolate80 I just saw him in Maryland this summer and you couldn't tell him nuffin ! He was doing all the new dances , crip walking , the nae nae .... I have awful video . And he still sounds great
This was such a great night on the Arsenio Hall show! A dynamite band backing El as he did his thang!!! I handled the sound that night and people were dancing in the isles!! And to Randy Walker, bro They didn't forget you, you were great on those keys!!!
I graduated with Randy Walker, he told me he was working at Marshall music when El debarge came in looking for a keyboard that is how he ended up meeting El DeBarge. We graduated 1981
Everything about this was incredible. A singer with incredible vocals and showmanship, dynamic dancers, on point background vocals, and great live playing!
Wow!!! Old school entertainment!!! The REAL deal!!! Dance moves combined with actual singing!!! NO lip-synching here!!! Way to go El!!! Yes, I thought that was Bunny too! This was indeed a fantastic perormance!!! Thank you so much for sharing it!!! I LOVE it!!!!
wow! never heard this beautiful song before! some of his songs could easily double as or could be converted into gospel songs! this could be an inspirational praise and worship song to uplift a heavy-heart!
kj's girl I was 14 years old when this song was released and it has ALWAYS been inspirational to me. Every time I hear El sing it, It touches me and I get teary-eyed. 🙌🏽🙏🏽 God bless you El and the entire DeBarge family. ❤️
I really think this song was meant to be a gospel song. But I think the record company probably didn’t want to EL to appeal to that market. It’s always been one of my favorite songs by him. I play it when I want to cheer myself up or someone I love.
One word: WOW!! El tore that stage up and was jamming like nobody!! The best voice ever! I love this song and this man and what a performance!! Baby had some moves!! :))
Now that's real talent EL doing this live and 💃 at same time and hitting those high notes and its nice to see tommy &Randy with they fine self and of course pretty &sexy Mr.El Debarge 💘 me some him.
OMG! WOW! can't stand it, this video is GREAT, Thank you We had a chance to see some of Debarge Family backup El on Aresenio Hall El is so talented that it's unbelieveable. I am happy that El came back to us He can sing, dance, write, speak and play the piano like no one can. El is bless and deserve to be here. Praying for you and loving you always
Oh man. I remember watching this performance on TV when it first aired on Arsenio. El and those dancers absolutely KILLED it! The DeBarge family were no joke when it came to performing. Live and in studio. Didn't realize that was Tommy on bass. The man was legendary with his bass lines. Then they had siblings Randy and Bunny on backing vocals too? Y'all can't tell me this family wasn't iconic in their musicality. They were beasts vocally, lyrically, instrumentation wise and the choreography was always smooth. Thanks for sharing this with us @MJMedia09Other.
Absolutely LOVE ❤️ this SONG. Blessed every time I listen to it. Very gifted and talented family. GOD Bless you El and the Debarge family. Keep on Keeping on❤️
So inspirational!- At the time Im sure he didnt realize that he would need those same Prayers!!!- I Listen to this song all the time!!!- Love You El!!!!-GOD BLESS!!!-STAY STRONG!!!
I know right! But this was during the time of his drug use but it just hadn't taken it's toll yet. Addiction progresses like any other thing till he really did needed to be reminded of these words. He held up good along time! Love me some El!
Right. I just hated to that he had to go through that, but we never know where life is gonna take us. Places we thought we'd never go that's for sure. I'm thankful he's still around. If he never get success like he had before, he definitely got a 2nd chance at breathing. I'm looking at how well he look to have abused grugs like he did... But can you imagine what he'd look like if he had never used? Omg! He probably wouldn't have aged at all! Just a thought :) Love me some Eldra!
Michelle Summer Girl Yees!-There are recent videos of him in concert singing Smokey Robinson's songs-Flawless!-Amazing how his voice stood up to the abuse.Again Thank God he's Alive and Well.
Are those his twin cousins or nieces? El is a force of talent...the way he stepped back in line with the dancers and danced. He is so precise with his body alignment. he did not miss a beat. He inspires me.
@DREWSIC Are you a member of the family? I personally videotaped this show in 89 and I LOVE El's performance of this song and the lyrics mean something. It's ashame this song got very little exposure cause it's one of my favorite El songs of ALL TIME.
Just horrible what they went through.very talented family.I spoke with James debarge back at Thanksgiving time was very nice could have meet on nicer conditions but that is life.💖❤💖💋😍🙌
😂😂😂😂😂OOOO Lord I remember wearing my hair feathered just like that. But I can't remember why we referred to that style as feathered...sweet memories though!💙💙💙
Lol I love them! Back when you had to be talented and light skin at the same time! The Debarge’s could actually dance, sing and play instruments unlike some of these millenials!
