My mistake was not bringing my hip and back foot in line with the straight punch. Yes, I'm a beginner as you know.* 😅 *How often do you believe I should practice this to get it in the muscle memory so that I do this by default? Thanks in advance*

Thank you for this! I do the lead hand strikes just like Bruce Lee did. I learned through Joe Lewis who trained with Lee. I use weapon first (independent) motion. I extend the striking side shoulder and have a horizontal circular motion to the strike and a flex of the wrist as it snaps through. In regard to the other hand. Yes, I keep it centered, but beware a hook punch or overhand strike from an opponent.

Excellent tips for anyone who trains the straight lead, the backbone of real JKD. This video WILL save you years on your training if you follow the advice correctly. Too generous for free imo. This is as helpful as Ted Wong's list of JKD mistakes published in BB magazine. Great video, for the few that will benefit.

"It's a jab" was my first thought about nr. 9, because of the lack of moving the hip. Number 6 is a bad habit I've developed by too much solo training (and subconscious arrogance).

I noticed the last mistake. I train with my younger brother using the online JKD club lessons. I have to film myself to see if I make a mistake but I saw some mistakes in my brother and a friend of his when he was training with us.
