Enjoyed the video? Subscribe, Give it a Thumbs Up and Comment Below. (Dan actually reads EVERY single legit comment from his loyal fans) Don't like the video? If you would be so kind as to FUCK OFF, it would be very much appreciated. You don't have to watch any of Dan's videos.

I remember Bruce saying (and it sticks with me in my very soul) that every action you do, whether it's a deflect or an attack, will be an attack. NO movement of yours should be wasted. You attack, you attack - you deflect, you attack. It's all one fluid motion. Like water. "Be like water, my friend"

Jeet Kune Do is kinda like fencing but with fists.
@aimanjaafar5578
@aimanjaafar5578 5 лет назад
Because JKD movement is took from fencing arts. Alot of arts can be found in JKD, They just be blended together.
@roksoulja84
@roksoulja84 4 года назад
I think its a mixture of fencing, savate, kali, karate, wing chun, boxing, muay thai, and some movements from judo and american wrestling for submissions
@davisbarr9112
@davisbarr9112 4 года назад
Wing Chun and jkd both borrowed from sword arts ... So absolutely true. Can't agree more. A lot of those motions work better with swords. People say use silat or kali whatever else ... I think wing Chun and jkd are both better for blades. And both have a root in Shaolin at the start just to be fair. When you have swords edge blocks and "intercepting fist" with weapon are ridiculously successful. Combine it with defang ... You have a great successful style that gets little attention these days. I prefer it. You? Examples: curved weapon strike, intercepting straight strike. Straight weapon strike, straight intercepting hand defang. Straight or curved weapon strike, edge block blocking strike ... Be water / pressure grappling weapon strike. So it is arguably great to learn more. But you could beat a lot of opponents with Wing Chun jkd and if you had Shaolin with blades I'm not sure why you'd need Kali kali is good too it's great to practice I like it and practice s couple drills they are very similar. But why not prefer this stuff! Really! Jkd is with fists. I forgot that point. Well ... Anyway. None of the rest of Kung Fu lacks the inclusion of you yourself being armed ... Right? We just got attached to forms and stopped the practical use. If you look for it the practical applications are there. Don't get too distracted though by self defense and relying on your body ... Your mind spirit and God are still much much more important. But it's more comfortable I think to use these forms if weapons are there. I mean I totally think so. Everything is preference but it's very comfortable to use these types of forms even more than Kali and kendo I think.

@eddiedoyle3607
@eddiedoyle3607 6 лет назад
Thank you dan for keeping Bruce’s art alive , I happen to know that early on he was teaching spring energy drills , he said they were chi sow drills , but very different than wing chun , and later when he did develop jeet kune do , Bruce claimed he did away with them , stating that they were not as important as originally thought , but if you watch him you will see that he wasn’t being truthful , he did not want to teach it to anyone , because it was like a secret weapon for him , if you had a secret weapon would you want to teach it to others no because they could use it against you , and I am convinced this was the case , Bruce didn’t leave us a complete guide , we have to intrperate many things , I love Bruce , he was my idol , but I never tried to practice jkd , I learned combat fighting , completely different from jkd , but has worked for me every time , and didn’t require nearly as much time as jkd to master , so let me ask you if I stick to Bruce’s philosophy , but no matter what system I arrive at , as long as it works for me , that would still be jkd wouldn’t it. Thank you
@josephbedwell3164
@josephbedwell3164 5 лет назад
Bruce Lee's goal was to light the fire by giving you the basics. After that, it was your job to develop a style that worked for you. His goal was to meet somebody that could actually beat him in a fair fight. Though he made it close to impossible, he still had that hope that there was somebody better than him.
@Wowvod
@Wowvod 2 года назад
@@josephbedwell3164 yes cause if we’re being real nobody is gonna be like Bruce, but we can try so why not have your own style of fighting incorporating from other arts that blends well with your body type, find what works for you.💯

As a wrestler in Lucha Libre. Since we are in a pandemic. I miss training in combativeness. Since I’m familiar with the Jun Fan kickboxing when I was a kid. I’m going to start getting back into JKD again. And this is a great start especially with Octavio Quintero. His insight and directness and instruction is awesome, the punches in this video even deflecting the punch with a punch it’s like you’re intercepting the attack with the punch. I thank you two for this video and many more. So I can relearn what I’ve known and open my mind up what I need to at home in my training til it’s time to find someone to train me again in What our founder (Bruce Lee) gave us

I like this a lot after studying Aikido for 9 years I'm finally starting to understand how angles work I also studied Wing Chun for a little bit I see the difference between j k d and Wing Chun my first art was Taekwondo and I've done that for 10 years under very respected masters from Korea I totally see the validity to what you're saying and my Taekwondo teacher says all the time don't block and people who dont understand Aikido ,think that the Blends are blocks but they're not blocks their blends in other words you're keeping your space in your own time which breaks their balance by bending your knees and timing it with your Center I get really frustrated when people tell me that they only do one art because to understand the concepts is to understand all the Arts and even though you don't understand all the martial arts literally you can understand the concepts and how it was all put together and when those Concepts make sense then sparring makes sense however you choose to do it☺

I really love watching and doing what you do while this quarantine is going on...I really want to improve my body and agility and become a better person....learning wing chun can do so much and I have so much respect for the art and I really push myself when I watch any of the wing chun training videos...I think I can learn so much from the art or Wing Chun and I really want to learn and admire the art!!! I’m so sore from the past 4 days of learning wing chun....my body is adapting to the unusual stance and foot work but like I said I love it...I have Lupus and my body doesn’t like all this movement but I may have lupus but lupus doesn’t have me💪🏽 much respect 💯❤️

Hello. I just discover you. I like the way you're explaining the techniques. I think you're a good teacher. I practiced different martial arts too. And I completely agree. I'm instructor in combat russe. I explain too how to fight in street fight what people have to be careful with thugs here. I experienced that many times. As woman life isn't safe at all on Paris. So I explain how to react on the street or in the elevator. Like that they have tools whatever where they are. I love pressure point because if the opponent is much more stronger than me there's no pb to knock out.
