Also a 2 hour wait... he threw over 2000 innings before getting to America and having his first game at age 26. He had a few 1 hit and 2 hit gems as well. Rarely can a guy throw 94 rarely touching 95 mph but make it look like nothing less than 100. One filthy windup... he made a crazy comeback late in his career after injuries and some very ugly seasons. NO STEROIDS MAKES HIM EVEN MORE IMPRESSIVE.
As a Japanese American, I can tell you what a pivotal moment it was when Hideo debuted for my favorite and home town team, the one and only Los Angeles Dodgers. This performance was the icing on the cake. Thanks for the memories, Nomosan! Also, thanks for always narrating our precious moments, Vin!

That's a dumb stat.. how many pitchers have even pitched more than one no hitter? Not to mention one national league and ones American league so very few pitchers have even pitched in both ballparks.
@@maldrinjr9629 The only one at the new Yankees stadium against my Yankees came via a masterpiece by Christian Javier (and two other relievers) this year. Pretty similar to these two no hitters. The only one ever in a ball park with at least ten full seasons played in it.
this is the best pitching performance ever for a pitcher according to walker buehler ,he said coors field is the hardest place to pitch cause of the altitude. this was amazing
I remember watching this game in my living room and then ran around like an idiot after that last strike. One of my favorite Dodgers' memory of all time!

MY favorite Nomo moment of all time! To pitch a no-hitter AT COORS FIELD!?!?!?!? Un-believable. Saw the whole game in my room, too. Nomo was mainly pitching out of the stretch because the mound was too damp for him to get his full-windup delivery going due to the rains earlier that day. Just absolutely SICK what I saw out of him that night... O_O
This no-hitter is especially noteworthy because of the team he threw it against. Burks was playing out of his mind that year, and need we say more than Bichette-Galarraga-Castilla batting 4-5-6?
The differences in mine and american culture is evident here, i dont understand how anyone can listen to Vin Scully and not want to fall asleep or plug their ears from that monotonous annoying "Cheif Wiggum" voice.

The irrational mind has one criteria for accepting or not accepting something: they have to "like" the former and "dislike" the latter. So, you're the common denominator, personal preference in one case, is deeply entwined with personal preference in another...because in both cases, it's still you and your whims. Your threshold for tolerance is as follows: Mexican team starting a brawl w/ Canadian team for scoring too many runs in a contest that requires a team to score as many runs per game as possible: FINE. The thing I remember of this day is I fell sleep during the rain delay and when I woke up, the game was already finished and some infomercial was on KTLA...Had to wait 14 years to watch a no hitter for the first time (Matt Garza in 2010)
Even the Piazza trade wasn't as bad as that one, that trade was the worst trade they ever made. One of the worst in baseball history. At least for Piazza they got Sheffield. Granted he's not a catcher but his bat is comparable.

much different looking Nomo here compared to the juiced up version he became upon his return to LA in 2002.Remember,by 1999,Nomo was washed up & cut from the Cubs in spring training,then all of the sudden he's back to being an effective & at times,dominate pitcher.Just compare pics from 2003-05 to oned from 96 & you'll see what I mean.Huge fan btw
