Tonight we opened up another 1979 OPC Hockey Wax Pack hoping to pull a Wayne Gretzky Rookie Card! A PSA 10 last sold for over $400,000!
Leighton rolls the dice to randomize the list. He rolls a five. The first card in the pack is face-up. Leighton breaks open the 1979 O-Pee-Chee Hockey Wax Pack. The first card in the pack is Rogie Vachon. He is a hall of fame goalie. The card is very high quality. The next card is a checklist card. Bill Riley is the third card to be drawn from the deck. The fourth card to be pulled is a New York Rangers team card. Richard Mulhern is the fifth card to be pulled. Dave Williams is the 6th card to be pulled from the deck. The card is well centered. Leighton reminds the audience to screen the cards through PSA. Rick Green is the next card to be pulled. Leighton again points out the deck has some very well printed cards in it. Al Hill is card number seven. Barry Beck is the eighth card to be pulled. The card is pretty centered, slightly off-center left to right. Card number ten is Blair Chapman. Leighton says it's centered. Card number eleven is Robbie Ftorek. The card is a little off-centered left to right. Card number twelve is Borje Salming. Lars-Erik Sjöberg is the thirteenth card in the pack. The fourteenth and final card in the pack is a Flyers team card. Leighton says the card is almost perfectly centered. It was an incredible pack regarding the condition.
Each week, collectors from all over the world gather on Vintage Breaks to watch Leighton Sheldon, Mike Eisner, and their crew opens up vintage sports card packs and boxes live on Facebook Live, RU-vid, and Periscope.
It's a truly unique experience in the hobby that you can be a part of. We open up packs that are 50, 60, even 70 years old right in front of you, and everyone has a shot at getting these cards.
How it Works:
To participate, visit www.vintagebre... and check out the available breaks on sale. Purchase a spot and you'll be entered into a drawing for that group. Once the group sells out, the real fun begins.
The picking order is chosen randomly before the break begins, and the box or pack is opened live on air. Everyone participating will get to see what they've won instantly. The cards are then shipped out to their new owners.
The really cool thing about opening these vintage packs and boxes is that it's making history each and every time. The amount of fresh material still in the original packaging is slowly becoming extinct. It's always fun to unearth these cardboard treasures and share them with the card-collecting community.
Remember, you don't need to buy a slot to get in on the action. Most of our fans simply tune in and watch for the excitement of it all.
