I think setting up and taking down the roof top tent would be cool to see. I've never even heard of that before.

I watch thruhikers on RU-vid and some of things they do might work for you in the future. They make and dehydrate a lot their meals . This way no refrigerator needed. And dehydrated food is lightweight and stores easily. The have filters for their water bottles. They can safety filter water from streams or even lakes . They have done this for years and haven't gotten sick from doing it . Also I have seen others take a 5 gal bucket and a new toilet plunger and use that as a make shift washer. Add your water and soap agitate it with the plunger and repeat with clean water snd vinegar to rinse. I love you videos they are fun and informative. Thank you for sharing.

It really is a big beautiful country !! One way to save on fresh produce is to buy at roadside stands. They often have playgrounds and attractions for the kids too. Sounds like you're having a great adventure ! :)

Katie, speaking of inexpensive travel, if you guys will be in St. Louis later on this trip, the zoo is free, the art museum is free, and the science center is free (other than parking). Oh, and Grant's farm is free, but you pay for parking.

Pack snacks and beverages for road trips. If you are a coffee drinker, bring your own coffee. (We like Bustello instant.) Gas station coffee isn't very good, anyway, and Starbucks is expensive.

During the gardening season, I dehydrate surplus fruits and veg. I use the dried fruits and veg for camping and travel. You can also dehydrate canned beans. You can make your own instant meals with a starch base like couscous, ramen or instant mashed potatoes, home-dried veg, and a protein like TVP or dehydrated (cooked) beans. Dried veg are very compact, light weight, and require no refrigeration (until rehydrated). They would be great for stretching the food between major grocery stores.

We travel a lot for All-Star cheer. I have used a lot of your travel videos to help me especially on some of our longer trips. We’re about to do a 16 hour round-trip for a big competition and I am bringing all of the things I need so I can cook our food in our hotel roomand I am really excited for this. Thank you!

Great tips. I would love for you to do a vlog that covers things like a check list for getting your car/truck/RV ready for a longer road trip/. Maintenance musts, what to take and not to take, easiest hot/cold cooking set up, easy hygiene for both kids adults that kind of thing.

very informative and useful ... it's always good to know the ways & methods of the lowest cost options for anything we do in life. i had been very excited to see your travels in the remodeled camper. this method is interesting znd you can cover a lot of ground - see as much as possible to know where you may want to return in future years during your winter getaways once you are settled into your new homestead.

What do you do with your doggo when you visit attractions that do not allow pets? When we camp with our dog that is always an issue for us.
@raisingwildflowers
@raisingwildflowers 4 месяца назад
Our dog is actually a service dog so he is able to go with us, but our cat cannot so that is something we have had to figure out! Right now we are following nice weather so she is safe to stay in our truck while we do stuff. If a day is too hot, we have a rest day. We have considered getting a little portable window a/c and a thermometer we can monitor from our phones if we decide to travel in warmer weather - but that is just a thought I haven’t researched much. It seems like a good idea though lol.

Just wondering on average how many hours a day do you spend out and about ? I mean away from your boondocking site. Also do you camp in really isolated spots or are there others camping around too( when not at designated camping spots like national parks).

Do you have any other income besides RU-vid? I'm supporting and loving all of your videos but have one worry. You & your husband are at the prime of your life to make the most money. As you get older, the job market lessens. My husband was pushed out of his job at the beginning of the "C" virus. He had to retire 2 years earlier than planned. Are you adding as much to savings at what you are spending while on the road? Many blessings, memories & safe travels 💞

Their retirement could be grim
@nesadcruz7840
@nesadcruz7840 4 месяца назад
I guess her philosophy in life is different. We did the opposite. Worked really hard in our 30s , built our business. Could retire in our 40s. Working was optional so we slowed down , fully retired by early 50s. We dont do budget travel , always comfortably but then we didnt go on as long a trip as this. We vacationed . But they are travelling more as a lifestyle so I wonder too how they earn an income too apart from RU-vid. Savings dont go far unless you have millions. One Emergency can wipe out a big chunk.

@raisingwildflowers
@raisingwildflowers 4 месяца назад
We are using a little savings, but I am also making money on RU-vid so technically am “working” by making videos 😊 Its not enough to cover all our expenses, but most of them. My goal would be to make enough on YT to fund our trip 🤞

I don’t understand. You are showing this great adventure you are on but you don’t have your two older daughters with you. How is all this so much better or more important than being with your daughters. It seems you are living two different lives and the one you are living now doesn’t include your daughters from a previous marriage or relationship. This is so sad.
