Conrad Timms spent 3 years rebuilding Emanuele Pirro's '92 Team Bigazzi E30 M3 DTM back in Auckland, New Zealand.
This film is its first race in over 13 years at the New Zealand Festival of Motor Racing. Other cars featuring in this race are the likes of Peter Brock E30 M3, B&H E30 M3, Zakspeed Ford Escort and many others.

Great video. What a beautiful restoration job!! I checked out the postings on Conrad's website. Simply incredible! I owned and raced E30 M3s for many years, still very much in love with the E30 M3. BMW Motorsport parts for this car is so expensive now. Can only imagine how much it costs to do the restoration, not to mention the labor involved. True labor of love, something I can totally understand.

Sweet sounding legend! I used to watch Wellington 500 in early 90s when Schnitzer and Pirro raced and beat the Australian V8s around the city circuit. Great video, bring back lots of memories riding in an E30 BMW with my late father around NZ.

Its is the last of the 2.5 s14 race DTM race engines with slide plate throttle bodies, largest intake and exhaust valves. The car dyno'ed on a conservative dyno @ 333 rwhp and weighs 980 KGs. If you run that through a generic drive train loss algorithm you will get your 385bhp.

Yes correct. One of these engines will only last around 8000ks between rebuilds. They run special lightweight half height pistons with only two rings and very tight tolerances.

Great stuff but the driver needs to keep more midd corner speed and revs up. Often seems to go for too lower a gear. Hence why the cars in front were getting away. He obviously he’d more pace but was slowing his own progress. But what a great car and sound. Miss mine Sooo much. Jp

Top car and nice job on the track. It certainly looked like you wanted to take the utmost car if it while you were driving it and with all that work involved chasing down parts I completely understand why! PS What the hell was that Jag driver thinking??????

Years later people are still wondering the same thing. I don't think anyone in the history of Motorsport saw such a hero move, especially with the cars on display in this race. Most of them are original historic vehicles.

Moi j'roule en m20b25 et j'aimerai bien y claquer une turbine pour que ça wiiiin un peu plus.Ayant eue une Super 5 gtt j'ai bien adhéré au coup de pied au cul dans le couple,et j'avoue les pneu j'aime bien les killer.... Mais la le 2,3 16s avec une boite de moto cross et une bonne prépa, ça a l'air marrant quand même,beep beeeep!!! Pas un truc de gay en faite..... lol
