Yep buddy... I just wonder what's the power difference between them and you're almost right... M3, 4 pot - 320bhp M1, 6cyl 470bhp and weight difference... M3 1360kg - M1 1300kg. Really Mr. Cecotto was squeezing out every single drop of juice what was in it... brilliant skills.
@@hubinho91 The 92 DTM spec É30 m3s are around 355bhp and 870kg. The M1 pro cars have more torque but when they have a chance the m3s can brake a lot later and dance through the corners. Makes for awesome racing.
maybe the M1 was just going easy ..... as this was just a fun run ...... either way he aint over taking the M1 . I have a e30 m3 with s14 and cant catch up to a honda ...
Awesome driving skills, he is keeping up with cars much faster and powerful. He has got them under braking and at turns, he has to reduce speed at the turns to avoid crashing into them. He leaves them enough space and he is fair. He is incredible, an old man way past his prime and still drives better than 99% of us. Thanks for this video. Excellent.
great great great DTM BMW M30 !!!! My favorit Racecar!!!DTM e30 M3 EVO ,Johnny Cecotto, so großartig M3 mit johnny cecotto wieder zu sehen onboard. DTM 88 89 90 91 92 Wahnsinn, da war ich 18, bin damit aufgewachsen. Beste Rennserie, bester Tourenwagen.
Johnny, I watched you live at Bathurst in 1985 with Roberto in the BMW 635 - awesome 2nd place. I watched you drive the little M3 (which by the way is still one of the best sounding race cars I have ever heard). What a pleasure it is that you share with us mortals your passion for racing and your love of this great marque. It was you and Jimmy Richards that gave me the passion to go and buy my childhood dream car 35 years later (my 1988 BMW E24 Motorsport)- thank you very much sir from Australia
The E30 M3 was one of those perfect fusions of road needs and racing design. This footage is excellent - and it makes the use of an E30 M3 on anything other than the track seem like a bit of a waste. It is good to see a precious and lovely thing on the right place being used as intended... By a driver wjo knew the model very well. Lovely video.
What an incredible pleasure to watch as a passionate BMW Classic-Lover... thanks a lot for uploading! Despite being a still quite young guy (25j.) I have to say that for me contemporary motorsport does not even create half of the fascination of this past racing era. Legendary cars producing a symphony of sound (especially the sound of the M1 Procars give me guaranteed goosebumps every time) together with a legendary men behind the wheel - I don't even try to find words for that. Being an regular visitor of the annual Oldtimer-GP at the Nürburgring I would be interested when this brilliant footage has been recorded? Has this run taken place during the OGP in 2016? Thanks in advance and best wishes!
Jonathan Cecotto Thanks for your reaction! Well quite old but damn gold I would say :). The other clip you are referring to I have already seen a couple of times - great as well! Unfortunately I have not been to the OGP in 2013. I may be wrong but for me it seems as if they are racing even more aggressively and closer than from what I have seen in 2015/2016. Simply awesome! My dream would be to join one of this rides in the passenger seat (lets say I would die for it) - but after having a short talk to the Heinrich-brothers (from AH-Racing) at the OGP 2016 especially when it comes to the M1 Procar it is nearly inpossible to realize. Apparently one has to be Piquet Jr. to get in closer contact with these legendary cars - unfortunately :). I wish you great success in Formula 4 and in general for your career!
Mighty M88 in my opinion, OGP 2013 was the best I went to. The last year's where less cars and many demo laps instead of actual racing. And I don't race formula 4 anymore, I drive GT cars :) still thank you
Jonathan Cecotto My bad... I thought you were still in Formula 4 sorry. Nevertheless great success! And you are right - in the last years demonstration laps have become much more common. So send me a time-machine then and put me back to 2013 ;). Sorry for my horrible english btw - I am a german guy trying his best to make myself understandable. Great channel! Keep it up!
@@hubinho91 stock M3, full of unnecessary things weights 1230kg. It's impossible that DTM version weights more, than civilian version. Amateurs can drop 300kg from a car...
