The old snapper mower was like a light, light tractor, I have had Craftsman, Murray, Troy built all required fixing everytime I cut grass. I was told, "get a Snapper" I did and 14 years later it still cuts grass, small pine trees and other stuff that would destroy a more expensive machine. Then for some reason, Snapper decided to build a machine that will not cut grass. Thanks for the video I use it to keep mine running.

My Snapper Comet is from 1974. It's on the 4th engine at least. Can't ever buy a new one because you can always fix these. Happy to have found all these videos... I'm messing with the drive disc today, these videos are huge help.

Jim I made one of your gauges with the paint stick And I adjusted the spring on the clutch and wow what a difference that made have lots of traction now thanks

Thanks again for all your information. I made a mistake and ordered the wrong clutch disc without the brake liner. I have a new one on order should be here tomorrow. I check the spring tension as well.

👍Thanks Mr Jim. I moved the spring (YOKE) to the furthest hole. My drive disk is good along w/ it being closest to the engine pulley. All good now. Much appreciation- (Lou.KY,) ✌️

Jim, you do a great job for us snapper owners. The spring trick won’t work on my 1995 snapper as the spring pulls the drive clutch but the bar comes against a stop and changing the spring hole can’t press the clutch wheel any firmer against the drive wheel. You do show how to check the measurement of the drive wheel but don’t show how to adjust it. Otherwise the stuff you cover is a life saver. Thanks.

I know a bunch of these are old videos but I'll remember most of the stuff you was talking about and showing. I do like that 2008 snapper only puts about 2 safety buttons on they're mowers Old green and grey Craftsmen mowers have about 3 buttons 2005 model john deere puts about 4 or more safety buttons on they're mowers i can't say for any newer models i don't know. I stripped my john deere of all those buttons and the wiring because when one button doesn't work it messes the whole mower up john deere really wants more people coming in the shop I believe most people would give up on trying to figure out what's wrong with it then call a shop

Great directions and thank you for your awesome videos. I have the same snapper and drives fine til I get on a hill and it slows down and stops. I’m gonna adjust the spring first and then, may need to replace the clutch wheel..

I'm having a problem with first gear. The mower doesn't move but the rest of the gears are fine including reverse. I also have a problem with gear speed, it doesn't change much in 2nd and above. Would this adjustment help? Great videos and thanks for your contributions.

As an update to my comment a short while ago. The problem with my mower not pulling seems to be a result of an oil leak from the engine fouling the drive wheel and reducing the friction on the clutch, an engine overhaul beckons 😳

Hey Jim, on my 33 mower when starting mower and runs, then when u release the clutch , it shuts off, instead of replacing the push button switch underneath the mower, I removed it and switched the plug. In reversed, it cranks and runs better than new. but it used to skip, every now and then. Now it doesn't. I wish they still made them. These snapper high vac systems are better than my reel mower and probably gets the grass shorter.

Jim, I really enjoy your videos! I have just subscribed but have been a viewer for a long time. I guess I didn't think to subscribe before. I replaced my Snapper M300919B clutch and the long clutch cable. I mow steep hills and use the clutch often. I have broken 2 cables. After I replaced the clutch and cable, my mower does not want to roll in Neutral. I can mow with it but I can't push it when I am in Neutral without busting a gut or breaking my back. Jim I have a problem I recently change the blade belt according to your video and it was very useful (great video by the way) but now i have a problem my 28 inch mower with a 18.5 hp briggs and stratton wil not begin moving foward in 1 st. or 2nd. gear , It moves foward from 3rd. on , I check the clutc disk and it is a little worn , Do i have to change it ? or adjust it?

I just installed the new clutch I got today in the mail, now the shifter won’t shift from neutral and when I tried to start the engine it sounded like the drive wheel was binding on the clutch or something and the starter didn’t have enough strength to turn it over. Which part should I be checking to adjust? Thanks Jim

Quick question, I have a snapper lt12 tractor with the similar drive disk setup. All the gears work as they should, but my reverse struggles a bit. It seems to slip lots and burn up. I see how you can tighten the spring for better traction, but on my tractor, there isn’t much selection for spring adjustment. Would buying a tighter spring from the store fix this issue? Would it be bad for the disk? Or will it give my the traction I need? I replaced the drive disk wheel already. I have the snowblower on the front and 100 pounds on the rear so I definitely need the traction

when I press the clutch pedal down it does not return into position and the mower slows down and has no power. what do you suggest that I do to fix clutch pedal returning into position?

My snapper does not go fast anymore...it backs up fine and it has a hard time climbing a steep hill.

Hi Jim, I am having trouble with my drive disk, I have lost the little things that hold it on, I thought that they were tight but I don't know but they came out and I don't know how but the slide pin that goes into the middle is still there. But it chued up the clutch disk before it quit moving. I'm having a lot of trouble with this thing. I have the 1in shaft coming out of this old motor, it's a 7 or 8 horse motor. I wish I was closer to you I'd bring it by. I have Parkinson's and it makes everything harder but anyway hope you can help

Jim Jackson hi, dont mind this pretty face its my wifes lol , im Josh i have sort of an emergency i started my lawn service with a snapper 28085 rear deck rider. it was going in drive all gears and reverse fine. but when i put the belt on and pulled the front end back forward to tighten the belt and adjusted the clutch and brake(mine has 2 pedals) it will not drive anylonger,. ,i did" try" to adjust the drive disk perhaps thats my problem.... but the scary issues im having is the motor will start to white smoke a little and it will cut off...the pulll cord is locked up and so is the drive disc. i have to take the motor cover off use a woooden 2x4 to lightly tap the top fins backwards to unlock the drive disc and pull cord i have had it ock up on me 2 times.......please help out a lost guy on this ...im so baffled...

My Snapper 28" riding mower will not leave a clean cut lawn. The mower deck is level front to back and side to side. There is no play in the spindle. The mower blade is also in alignment. What else could it possibly be. I have been having this problem since middle of last summer. Any help would be greatly appreciated. kensally@atlanticbb.net
