Spray wd40 on the glue and go have a cuppa for 30 mins and it will come off easier

Maybe you could paint that bottom axle lamp and that bit of tube right at the bottom the same colour, the damage might just “disappear “

You could make a sleeve out of a coke bottle heated up and shrunk with your heated paint stripper!

All black will look good - it has echoes of Vincent and Velocette . Nice job . An upcoming trip does wonders for your mood - enjoy yourself young 'un !

The markings under the wheel axle clamps.... I would hide with large diameter heat shrink ...

You could use clear film to cover the fork body, 3M amongst other do it.

Well said Craig, Ive been there with lacquered Steel. It a poor mans paint job, that looks unsightly close up, and the rust eventually gets through. I wouldn't toch any bike again with lacquer on bare metal. The DR is looking the mutts nuts, and shouldnt be too long before shes alive again, and hopefully looked after. Onwards and upwards! ☝

Hi Craig, have you considered covering the lower forks with some 3M vinyl wrapping to keep the costs down? Hope Blue & Boodie is feeling well too! 👍

Hi Craig. Hope you're well and Blue too. Can't you take the forks to bits and give that end bit a skim with some emery cloth on the lathe? Or, even do the whole slider and perhaps get them re-anodised if it's feasible?

The off road bikes are not my favorite thing but I would rather see some honest wear and tear on an older bike than all those phony stickers. This bike would look great with no graphics at all.

call me bonkers, but how about a darkish candy red? you might be overdoing the black thing and the contrast could make it sing. just a thought ... :D

Craig, Mate: I think I know what happened to the front fork and why it looks quite as terrible. 😊 A quick picture search for the front forks confirmed my suspicion that this make of front axle mount should sit lower on the fork, actually at its very end. Either the bike was once made lower to help a shorty ride it or it impacted so hard at some point that these calipery thingies slipped up. This way or the other, the severe scratch marks probably also affect the strength of the material there. I don't mean to be a spoil sport, but I think that if you want to do anything more with the bike than looking at it, these forks should be replaced. 🥴 …off what? ah, f***! Aye. Yes. Coat. 😵‍💫
