Excellent! I try to tell people, don’t believe all the hype about 9mm. A great round for sure but if you’re looking for penetration the 40SW or 357Sig is the way to go. New subscriber!
When are you going for more penetration? I'm leaning towards shotguns for home self defense because I'm nervous about over penetration. I have also seen gel tests show 9 going further, so I was thinking maybe 40 would be better in a home for SD if I use a handgun
Not just 40 penetrated better, it also left bigger diameter hole on all plates. Its not easy to penetrate for bullet bigger surface area. 40 is plenty to kill
The difference is so negligible that it doesn't justify the outrageous price of the .40 compared to the 9mm. And if you have a firearm that will handle nine major, the .40 doesn't even come close.
When the video was over I shot (off camera) 10 rounds of each caliber and I got the "same result", maybe if the plates had been thicker the 9mm could have won because it penetrates almost always more than the .40
@@jacktheshark7440 thanks for the update because when I mess around with my buddies sometimes I win and sometimes the 40 that they used seems to destroy a little more! But I switched from a 45 ACP to a 9mm and I have no regrets my groups are better and I have a whole lot of different rounds and loads to pick from since the newer stuff is so much better than 20 years ago. Have a great night brother thanks
Well good video just remember if you're going to use your gun to defend yourself if the bullet goes through the body and kill the person behind you will get charged with murder
The higher cross sectional density of the 180 40cal had more momentum than the 124 9mm. You should have used the 147 grain 9mm which is equal in cross sectional density and momentum to the 40cal.
Why'd you use a 180 Grain .40?, You do know there's both a 150 as well as a 165 Grain., This was about as close as a comparison as your 9mm 115 VS. 124 VS. 147, The difference in bullet weight of a 115 and a 147 is 32 Grains with is over 1/4 more weight than that of a 115 Grain so of course it's down on power, Add a faster burning powder and or primer to gain back that 1/4 additional weight and the 147 Grain would smoke the little 115 Grain 9mm as it'd have same speed and a shitload of more ftlbs of energy
