Dude you have a Taurus 627 tracker. Nice. Ive had one for ever it's my favorite pistol and most versatile. Nothing beats .357 magnum for long hikes. Then you can switch to 38 special for plinking and self defense.
I think jack was trying to keep it consistent by using same ammo maker. But I do agree, the true power of 357 is not represent by armscore. Hornady critical duty, double tap, Buffalo bore... those are properly loaded.
I am not l trying to troll you, but it was even testing, common caliber weights, in the same manufacturer. You can always mix and match to get the outcome you want. Buffalo bore also makes a 357 and it would definitely be more powerful than 40. There is certain 9mm that can be put against certain 40 that will penetrate further. I will agree I would like to see Buffalo bore in all 3 calibers. I think he would need more plates especially in hardcast lead.
Stop using 180 grain for 40. That shit is like using 147 grain non +p for 9mm. It's slow as hell. Use 165 grain. And see the difference in velocity and performance.
