Don’t let this distract you from the fact that Hector is going to be running three Honda civics with spoon engines, and on top of that, he just went into Harry’s and bought three t66 turbos with nos, and a motec system exhaust
Am I the only one that has watched this 10+ times? This video made me clean my shop and changed how I work on cars. I can appreciate everything they are doing. So cool
I'm not really into these cars but man oh man I respect the heck out of the engineering, manufacturing, and fabrication. I mean serious art here folks.
Japanese tuning companies never stopped being great, unlike the manufacturers. I think that's a big reason why the tuning culture of Japan is so amazing, even today. Sure, the JDM golden age may have ended in the early 2000s, but the tuners don't know/don't care.
Honestly, that price is reasonable for the amount of work and attention to detail AND the legendary creators behind this project. Japanese Singer is a sweet concept.
These guys have the EXACT same idea I've had for some time now, to restore/build brand new versions of older Japanese classics, but with all the appropriate bells and whistles for a fast street car. it's nice to see that idea take shape. My dream goal would be an all-carbon body mk3 Supra, with around 500hp that handles well but is also very comfortable, and nice inside, a perfect Grand Tourer, with the classic late 80's look.
Jared Richardson that’s how I know about a lot of the cars I love and appreciate.. old GT is the greatest, ps2 title has more than double the cars of gt sport in timeless graphics, one of the tiny handful of interlaced 1080 games on it.
Im sure the light weight chassis will have alot of play in how fast it will feel when driving it along with anything they have done for weight reduction.
Nice to know, I currently own a 1992 eg6 with an sir swap here in the USA and I love it, nice to know that this option is available from spoon, awesome 💯👍👍👍
lol watch as top secret does a mk2 supra and RE does a FC, seeing as Mines is doing a r32 maybe theyll all go for that kinda retro mod kind of thing, not exactly the chassis they are known for, but one in the same family.
@@jhalkoski idk about an mk2 but a top secret mk3 though. That would be sweet. Amemiya's take on an NA miata would also be cool, would be nice to see a screaming all motor rotor setup in there. Top down 14,000rpm redline.
Gotta love Spoon. Its ultimately one of the best builders in the business for Honda's and Acura's besides Mugen. They are both the best in the business
@@Alexander_l322 I went out and bought a civic LX. so slow. Then I bought a mazda 6. SO SLOW. Then I bought a dodge challenger RT. So fast. Now I have a WRX. SO FAST, SO SMOOTH. SO HANDLE.
@@frivera735 had an EM1 with a NA b16. I loved that car, awesome sound and a lot of fun, newer cars with the same displacement and power are so boring. Now I have a 2zzge :)
I have an EJ8 Civic coupe with a built B18C5 in it and it currently makes 612 whp on a GT3582R dual ball bearing turbo at 22.5 psi. With what I have into my B series, I could've built a fairly bulletproof K series, but I like to stick with my roots (I'm 36 years old) and back in the day when the first FnF came out, it was ALL about the B series. FnF made me buy my first Honda, a DA9 Integra GS that I turbocharged myself. I agree that the K series is a far superior engine to the B, but you can still have alot of fun with the B series. P.S. I also have a CSS forged internals B16A in my basement with a B18C head as a spare engine.
I wanna cry rn, half joy, half sadness. The fact that these companies are back into making the epic cars they made in the early 00s is just amazing. But the fact that i have no chance of owning either of them is painful
2 favorite things about this civic.. 1. The floor and 2 the header.. wow.. the header looks like a hood exit header combined to work with rest of exhaust system...
I love spoon with all of my heart and have authentic N1 catback exhaust on my s2k. I want to build my s2k with spoon front bumper. But $120k for a civic man that's tough. If I was a billionaire I'd buy one as well as other legend builds.
Love this channel! High quality vids. That exhaust manifold is epic. Would love to know more about that, like what cam is being used, what length the headers are before the 4-1 and what they're going for with that build. They said about 200hp... Is there a turbo behind there or does the exhaust just go that way for space saving? How about heat dissipation in the engine bay? So many questions! :D
That’s so bad ass man definitely a dream.i turned 16 in 2002 and in Alabama there wasn’t to many resources for jdm parts but I remember having all the old options videos that were awesome back then
When i was there it was around the time the FK8 Type R came out and they had two of them in the shop in the first floor and on the other side of the shop, (its actually not very large about the size of 5 or 6 car garage with a car elevator in one corner to move cars to the second floor) was a Honda s600 and a first gen crx , was super awesome they even gave me a couple newspaper style promotional with amazing pictures of the older spoon race cars super nice guys we literally walked in off the street and they let us look around the whole shop even in the engine room. Super amazing place amazingly nice people and some absolutely beautiful Hondas!!
Obviously this is for a very specific audience. The fact that this car will probably hold tuning sectets that would be lost in the futre it will be be an iconic time capsule... i wish it would also include a joutnal of each builder for the time of the build... maybe they could also do a a data dump of what life was like as they where learning about cars and what inspired them... Another one!
The 39-year-old me loves that the cars of my teenage years are becoming popular again. No electronic diffs, no lane departure or radar-guided cruise. Just pure driving.
Theres a scene from Dubrovnik where a Porsche is driving upwards to main road (Magistrala) heading south towards Kupari beach and in the background on the photo you can see hotel Belvedere unfortunately heavily damanged in the Croatian war (1991-1995) and the beach beneath, a beautiful scene!! Great Spoon video ♥️♥️
Jimmy Walsh brother if only that could happen then the brand would not be though of as the ultimate ricer car it pisses me off as a honda guy when i see those riced out hondas
If Honda builds cars that are not allowed to sell on U.S. soil than I doubt these cars would be legal here. Every stock hot hatch sold in U.S. is the watered down version of what they have on the other side.
Is that a gear driven cams(no timing chain or belt) on 7:23.. first time ive ever seen it coming from a honda Car engine 🤔 please anyone post some info, really interesting and different.
Fairly sure that is an s2000 engine, the chain drives the single larger gear in the front. If you just google s2000 cams you will get lots of images of it
I have a pic of that same Honda without the motor, from back in November. Fun to see that Honda coupe is still on the upper rack, originally thought it was an MGB GT before I walked up to it. They didn’t mind us just walking in off the street, was a wonderful experience! You should check out Akiland Racing, Five mart, or Japan RHD; the owners are amazing and nice af!
I agree...this guy "I think its worth it...for the ultimate fan boy" lol I thought this was gonna have 600+ HP or something....how can you call it ultimate when it's only 200HP and he goes to justify it by saying its light. This car is expensive cause of the amount of unnecessary labor that went into it.
18magicMARKer it’s expensive not only because of the labor but the heritage and title of a car being built in house by spoon, if you know spoon you know that’s extremely special
For 150K,I personally think that it should be pumping out atleast 400HP,200HP doesn't seem like enough power for this car IMO. They're pros though,so if they believe that 200HP is enough then it probably is. It's never a bad thing to have a good amount of power on tap,in case the driver wants to mash the skinny pedal a little harder and have enough power to put on a show.
I want to see some in depth details on that header. Aren’t short primary pipes ideal for high RPM power? But on the other hand, if they’re exactly twice as long or whatever, the harmonic waves still match up? My inner nerd thirsts for knowledge. I do have an old book from the 70s explaining proper pipe design. I just want to see more of it.
awesome af, you know... I'm not keen on buying newer style hondas, but when they showed off the cyber night cruiser ( basically an EK civic with modern safety, interior etc.) that got me thinking. If they brought back 90's body style with modern upgrades, I WOULD DEF buy one. Imagine... RX-7's, MR2's, EG's, EK's, Supras - with modern touches. SOLD
even if built by Spoon... 120K for a Civic is way too much... mad props to them on the attention to detail and just overall quality of such a build... the right kind of madness IMO... just too costly for such a car...
I mean it would be the biggest privilege to own such a masters piece built by real legends but, I can't see me paying 120 grand for 200hp. For such a price it needs to be 500-600 hp.
The spaghetti pipes should almost include a fork, them aren't the average squids kinda headers , those are beyond beautiful, never seen nothing like it in my life 😮
At the .17 second mark, he starts the car and it sounds almost exactly the same as my Vance and Hines stainless 2-1 upswept exhaust on my 1.2 litre Harley Davidson Sportster 48......isn't it just beautiful ☺
Dream car right there. Just subbed. That was a perfect little 411/interview video. Super chill, no moronic RU-vid personalities to look past. Hell yeah.
Agreed. But it’s on par with the rest of the crazy Japanese parts cost. If I want a full NOVEL exhaust on my car it’s $15k. Just go look at TOM’S parts. It’s insane markup.
All that shit and 200hp I like Spoon but it’s so over hyped lol and over priced. I’ll stick with my own Honda cars and builds . It’s nice eye candy though
Tekboy 808 I understand road racing I do also and I get what you saying but that just won’t cut it. Tell Honda that, they now have CTR make 300+ hp and it’s a road racing car. It’s just too much money that’s all.
@@tadficuscactus one thing they did not mention is if the 200 will be at the wheel vs crank which is a bit more in line with the new type R in regards of power to weight. Its expensive yes but for racing regulations and have a collectible car to some folks its worth the $150k
I just went in there. And Hector is going to be running.....3 Honda Civics with spoon engines. And on top of that, He just came into Harry's, And he ordered 3..T-66 turbos with NOS. And a Motec system exhaust SUGOOOIIIIII SPOON
Not to mention that Hector is going to be running 3 Honda Civics with spoon engines. And on top of that, he just went into Harry's, and he ordered 3 T66 turbos, with NOS. And a Motec exhaust - He must running at least $150,000 under each one of those hoods lol
Im a 25 year composite engineer and I would like to clear something up for you all. The carbon strut tower covers do absolutely nothing but make the engine bay look fancy. It looks to be a 9oz. Pre-preg composite laminate placed on top of the steel structure. The shock towers ARE NOT full carbon. If they were the first bump you hit you would get a great view of your struts coming through the hood! A strut tower still should be used. The thin laminate they have the towers covered in will do nothing for rigidity. They do look very nice though but that's pretty much all its good for, looks.
Spoon needs to take a look at the K20C2. With the 6MT and engine deactivation, I can get under 5L/100km in the city. All the parts are now available to take on the Hybrid with a NA engine and still have vtec for the fun stuff.
dont mind me but i love this video so much because i wouldn't mind a ek or sk2. amazing video it just made me so moist just like i would for subarus...
i got an eg civic as my first car and was loving it. the looks of the car was so much far ahaed of the time back in the day. in my opinion the best looking civic ever. needed springs rims and exhoust...thats it. the succsessor was looking so bad on the exterior...big eyes and those not flowing taillights...just terrible...
