Drive by footage and me yakking behind the wheel, with the topic mostly about a real lack of manual, front wheel drive coupes with trunks on the current automotive market.
However, there is always more to the story than just one video, so here's the story before this....
Part 1 behindthewheel...
Part 2 behindthewheel...

You hit this nail right on the head man. Personally I LOVE my Cavalier, it hit 230,000 miles before the frame broke so it’s no longer with me but I paid a whopping $600 for it on FB and it paid me back 100 times over. Gas mileage was phenomenal as you said, when I drove it all the way from Ohio to Myrtle Beach I was filling up at about half a tank for every stop and in between those fuel stops I was getting around 200 miles and the tank wasn’t even empty yet. They feel a lot quicker than the 115 horsepower that they’re rated for too. I loved everything about mine and I’m on the hunt to find another because I’m just not ready to give up the great adventures I had in my old one just yet. Thank you for this informative video, I would recommend these cars to literally anybody. You just can’t beat them!😄

@@behindthewheelexperience you’re welcome! I did end up getting another one by the way.😄 Found a 2000 coupe in Cayenne Red (kinda like dark red/orange). I’m not crazy about the color but it was too clean not to buy, only 110,000 miles runs great and I also got this one for $600 so it was a steal and a half. It does have a bad AC compressor and no power steering but I enjoy driving it so much.🤙🏻

@@itzchaseyboi I know too well of "overmiled and rusted" Cavaliers, the body of our 2003 was literally being held together by the paint but the engine never missed a beat. I hope you get many miles and years out of your "new to you" one.

@@behindthewheelexperience I hope so too man. I ain’t gonna lie the back frame rail behind the rear tire does look a little bad but I’m planning on trying to cut the old rail out and weld a new one in from a doner car since the rails are hollow, then undercoat it with the best stuff I can find so it don’t break in half on me. I figure with a good frame a Cavy can last well over 300,000 miles.

I'm in Wi.in the winter salt belt with our 2005 twin of Cavalier. your right the 140 hp engine is peppy The only problem I can see for a car like that is there a kid car . somebody commuting to collage or something like that. Kids got good bones & joints. Then they care less, if it rides rough. So ours is 19 years old about 140,000 miles. I had to work on it , this year or it would of had to go to the junk yard. ( Because we were not going to pay over $2,000 for repairs) GM made a lower crossmember the engine doesn't hook to. But it's made out of to thin of metal and will not take the Midwest rust and crumbles like a rusty exhaust. Then the lower control arms loose there sturdiness'. I also replace the power steering rack, and both hoses and tie rod ends. then you have to pay for alignment.

@@janbill79 The Cavalier is definitely a product of it's time that filled a few roles on the automotive landscape. Being a "Kid Car" is something it did very well

I have a 2003 2D chevy cavalier automatic! My question is how much it cost you to make it into a manual??
@behindthewheelexperience
@behindthewheelexperience 2 года назад
Mine was a factory manual, so it was already complete from the start. I believe it would be cheaper to find a factory manual then try and convert your current car. However, if you can find all the parts (transmission, driveshaft, flywheel and clutch assembly) and did all the work yourself....many, many hours and a few thousand dollars

Have an 02 manual base cavalier, it's old reliable. Made it across the country on 200k plus miles.

Despite popular negative opinion, I really liked the last generation Cavalier. Unbelievable engine (when properly maintained), stout suspension and amazing fuel economy (based on ownership with a 5 speed manual).

I've got four 2nd gen (88-94) V6 Cavaliers. Three Z24's (2) coupes (1) convertible. And a wagon. Love these cars. Very reliable and fun to drive. Here is a short video of the four of them together after I moved from Fla to NC. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nWyw_yqEq60.html
