1:18 That was fantastic use of A.B.A's original theme song. At first I thought you edited that and then i realized "wait that's how the song always was."
A random arc system works designer:What changes for the key Daisuke sama? Daisuke:Add one... Well better two belts to the key Naoki:And what would be the lyrics of his theme? Daisuke:BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH
I knew that move looked familiar. It's Evidence: Concealment but with the full three-hits only available (and mandatory) in neo-Moroha and with toothy eye-covered Arakune Goop™ instead of weird red-and-purple mercury blood.
It always reminded me of the alchemy door from Fullmetal Alchemist. I can't guarantee that it's a reference but she's a homunculus too so it would be really cool if it was
I'm so happy she's back, she's one of my favorites To this moment 2 of my favorite 3 came back: Testament and A.B.A, now I pray that they bring Zappa back as well
Its less room for expression where before having the emo hair helped with creating movement. While i think the older style works better you dont get to see her look deranged when she goes into her second form as well.
thx for this. i haven't played a ton of GG +R and would usually play Zappa/Johnny in it, but i'll definitely give Strive ABA a shot after seeing this. if you're right about her being a gorilla then it'll be fun to hit buttons recklessly until ppl figure her out 😆
@@Andrey-pc8elBefore Xrd. I’m an Xrd fanboy through and through best game in the franchise fight me, but it lightened the tone considerably. XX has a stage that’s an ocean of blood, hitting other characters shot blood everywhere, and some of the arcade endings are unreasonably cruel to the character you were just playing as. By comparison ABA looks like she’s just rolling around in Arakune now.
@@malikoniousjoe Yeah, I agree with it being darker before Xrd. I also think it's the best one lol. But I feel like calling GG dark and gritty feels like a bit of a stretch, the series has had plenty of goofy stuff since missing link (which tbh felt more edgy than anything, in a charming way), but no one played that game. So yeah, I can see where they're coming from, maybe the newer games have changed my perspective on the series as a whole? idk.
@@Andrey-pc8el Nah I think you’re on the right track. The content was always anime nonsense, it was mostly just the tone and atmosphere. We still had Faust Bridget and Robo Ky running around, but they were running around hellscapes, gear corpse restaurants, and haunted forests as opposed to the White House or a beautiful marble Illyrian building with a Rose pipe organ under a clear starry night.
What her design looks like to me is that she went from an angsty teen to an angsty 20 something year old. Seems like a lot of people preferred her younger lol.
Everything from before was better in my opinion. Not just aba but the old gameplay in general. And yes for the people out there who will probably inevitably tell me that I can just go play the old one then if I like it so much I do have the old one on steam with rollback net code. But here's the thing I would like it if newer games kept up with older gameplay and added new stuff to it sort of like what the new city of the wolves game is doing. They didn't take out the breaking mechanic they kept it in there and then added the new Rev mechanic on top of everything else that we know. Keeping the gameplay we know intact but adding cool new things on top of it that compliment that gameplay. There are so many characters I've seen that have just had whole things ripped from their old kit and then the overall gameplay mechanics that are universal between all characters are just not as exciting as old guilty gear. One of my friends was a big May player and she plays nothing like she used to. Everything just feels slower and matches don't even really last that long due to the high amount of damage and low health pools. The nuances of the Roman cancel system that had been refined back in Xrd have now been really dumbed down. You don't even really have the air footsies that the series was known for. And I know what really comes down to a subjective thing but I do not like the new direction the music went. It really feels like rock music that was made by someone who doesn't really listen to rock music. Which is funny because the entire game and thematics were centered around rock and roll and heavy metal themes and references. But it seems to have gone a more contemporary path. But overall I hope everyone who does enjoy this game continues to enjoy it and I hope they keep adding interesting characters we're going to see how Slayer looks when he inevitably gets added. I wonder if his theme is still going to be a fusion of rock and roll and jazz. I can tell you that even if it is they're probably going to layer some really weird vocals on top of it like all the other songs.
You just want a new game that has the stuff you cherish from the old one and that isn't a bad thing at all I understand your sentiment about the removal of certain system mechanics to make the skill floor lower, heck I even have some complaints like the slow air dash, no burst throwing, no air teching and the high damage. And the "slower" nature comes from the game resting to neutral after every wall break and the counter hits apart from that this game is pretty fast Strive does really have some improvements over the other ones like the RC system that allows you to drift and fast cancel the RC to preserve meter, The momentum manipulation with RC, The fact that RC doesn't slow the entire screen down And they even kinda* split blitz into 2 mechanics in Wild assault and deflect shield. As for the music I half agree with you, the vocal tracks work to elevate a huge amount of the songs to better heights (Baiken, testament, bedman, arcade boss theme and almost all of the base roster) but also kinda spoils some other songs (Jack-o and Bridget) And the rest are either still very good but not as good as their previous versions, just the same quality or slightly better My personal ost ranking for GG is Xrd>Strive>XX (Also the lack of good menu themes in this game pains me) Apart from that, strive is a really fun game, although very different From the traditional guilty gear, it's really good at being its own thing and I do hope you end up enjoying it at some point Thanks for your thoughts
one point of constructive criticism, i would've enjoyed covering normals too! stuff like moroha 6HS being WAY different than jealous 6HS. i'm still fighting the muscle memory on that one lol
I made the video before she was released so I couldn't do that at the time. So I'll do the same thing I did for Elphelt and cover some more specifics of the character in a later video, although it would've been nice to have everything in one video. Thanks for the critique
correct me if i am wrong but when i see game play of her when she is jealous and is taking damage the timer seems to pause at times. idk if its my eyes playing tricks on me or the video quality throwing it off. Because What i do know for a fact is the Meter does not go down when she is blocking its paused.
it might be just me but i cant help but feel the green hair looks awful - like i know its green for a reason, but that deep red was such a nice pop of color
