I make mine with 8 carrots, 1 red delicious, and 2 granny smith. I also make sure I have my juice on ice..any juice on ice makes it better...im a huge coke a cola fan..but this beats coke hands down!!! especially on a hot day :)

Absolutely. Consuming fruits and veggies in non-organic form is still always better than not consuming them at all. There are several tips to consider to get the best results for your health. 1) Always wash all produce thoroughly. 2) Peel the skin of some of the worst culprits ex: non organic apples 3) See the EWG's dirty dozen and aim for buying those organic, while others can be conventional. 4) Take advantage of sales on organic produce, or farmer's markets, buying in season, etc.

That is a possible option, Stormie, just please keep in mind that what I am making in this video is a juice, not a smoothie. Juices and smoothies have two completely different nutrition and health roles. And in general, smoothies, specifically green smoothies are the healthiest smoothies you can be drinking, as they preserve the whole food with all of its nutrients and fibre. If you are not going to make an actual apple-carrot *juice*, then it is best to just eat these types of ingredients whole as part of meals or snacks, and not in the form of a smoothie.

Thanks for the video, I 'suffer' from 'bad nerves' which cause me to have high blood pressure, of course my body is toxic and a recent blood test shows some 'irritation' within my liver and kidneys, so I'm looking for juices that will help those as well as the rest of the body.. again, great video.

I am new to juicing. Due to my being disabled my budget is limited. Having said that I try to have a juice daily. Due to my budget being limited I can't afford organic produce. By thoroughly cleaning my produce can I still the same positive results?

Evita... NOOO! I KNOW you've " graduated" to the slow speed, "masticating" juicers by now that preserve MUCH more nutrition in the juice! The easiest to clean workhorse I've found is the Omega 800! BEST Juicer ever!!

Yes, indeed, there are much better juicers out there. This video is very old and on a personal level I have actually moved away from making juice and juicing altogether, as my preference and focus is always to use the power of whole plant foods. However, I still help to educate those who are interested in juicing to understand the benefits and proper use of juicing for certain health needs. p.s. Thanks Evita, I'm going to try your recipe right now. I peeled my carrots, but it looks like you just washed yours. Mine are not organic though. Also, my apples are not organic so I'm going to cut them and then cut off the skin. I'm also going to remove the seeds. I think you implied in the thread that the seeds are okay. Are they? I figure I'll make the carrot juice first and taste it. Then I'm going to make the apple juice separately and add some little by little to see how much is a good recipe. Can't wait to see your other videos.

marc cohen Some people leave the cores and the seeds, some cut them out. It is really a matter of personal preference. Some people are afraid of apple seeds due to their proposed arsenic and/or cyanide content, but this isn't really a risk, unless one consumes a lot of apple seeds regularly perhaps. There is supposedly no arsenic, but some cyanogenic acids, but from everything I've learned about plants and nature thus far, there almost always hidden benefits, rather than any harm. So if this is a concern, I recommend for each person to research further and decide what they are comfortable with.

michelle dela cruz Yes and no. A blender will make smoothies, a juicer will make juice. These are nutritionally different, in that one (smoothie) is a whole-food, with all of the fiber and nutrients, where as the other (juice) is an extract of the food (no fiber, etc.) If someone has a good blender, they can then just buy a nut-milk bag (as they are often called), usually less than $20 and strain the smoothie through it, to get the juice of it. Otherwise, we can just eat the whole fruits and vegetables or make smoothies out of them and still get lots of benefits. While juices have some specific benefits, generally speaking the whole food has much more, so no need to feel like we must have juices. What we must have are lots of fruits and vegetables :)

ginalyn roberto You can use a blender, but then you will not be making a juice, rather you will be making a smoothie. Unless you have a vitamix, and a nut-milk bag, that you would strain the smoothie product through to remove the fiber. Juicers and blenders do not make the same final product from a nutrition and digestive perspective.

Thanks for watching and sharing your comment. In terms of your question, juicing can be handled in several ways: If a person has a condition they are trying to heal, then juicing is very helpful and should be a priority. Other areas of the budget can be shifted around in such a case, to make this work, as much as possible. If however a person just wants to include juicing for the pleasure of it, this is not a necessary health habit, and I would much rather recommend focusing on whole foods and smoothies. Juices create an extract of the food, and while they have a purpose in terms of healing, detoxing or giving the digestive system a break, the same can be achieved with fruit only fasts or even green smoothies. Both of which will be much cheaper. There is no doubt that juicing is one of the most expensive health habits because it uses so much fruits and vegetables to create a small amount of juice, however what I am trying to say above is that it does not need to be a regular part of our diet/lifestyle unless trying to heal....and even this can be done in other ways if the budget truly does not allow for it. So if someone can juice, great. If someone cannot afford to juice, no problem. For your case, I would recommend sourcing out juicing ingredients when they are in season and you can buy in bulk for a fraction of the cost. Seek out farmer's markets for example, and see what bulk deals are available. Sometimes natural health stores bring in large bags of carrots specifically for juicing when in season. Sometimes you can find wild apples freely, if you have close enough access to the countryside. So there are many small tips like that, which can make juicing possible without feeling the financial burden. Ultimately, I would recommend in your case to focus on them as the odd snack, when the right conditions exist, rather than something you have to do regularly. I personally use juices as "snacks" the odd time, and do not consider their financial costs. If carrots are in season for example and I can get a bulk amount for a good price, then I do so and I juice. If my grocery store has organic celery on sale, then I buy a bunch and I juice. Other than that, what I teach and live is to first and foremost focus on whole, plant foods, as these are highly healing and beneficial, and should make up the most (if not all) of our diet. The priority must always be on whole foods, before any juices. A whole-meal green smoothie for example, costs about $3 per serving, which is an excellent price for a whole-food, plant and mostly (if not all) organic meal that is full of the the best nutrients and health benefits. Peach Cabbage: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fIN8bPC9HDA.html These will give you and your kids outstanding nutrition and health benefits of whole, plant foods, that can be a part of your everyday diet. And even here, shop smart by focusing on local, seasonal and bulk deals. Cheers!

For the most part you are just going to get a concentrated turmeric juice extract. However, the whole food form of the turmeric will provide the full spectrum of nutrients and health benefits, which is best. Also, turmeric isn't the greatest thing to juice, as it is not as water-rich as most fruits and vegetables, or even ginger.

They are both different, and they both serve a different purpose. Juicing is for cleansing or nutrient boosting purposes, where as smoothies (via blending) provide a whole-meal, whole-food experience.

Yes you can, Marcy, but regular carrots are much better, not just for juicing but also for your health. Baby carrots are not actually "baby carrots" or a natural creation of nature. They are just pieces of old, big carrots crafted to be small, and are typically chlorinated or steralized in some way too, which is not desirable. For nutrient integrity it is best to consume such juices fresh. If you must store it, then up to 24 hours is recommended in a sealed jar in the fridge.

Thanks for the vid. Here's a tip to consider for the future. When you have the cash look into a juicer without a centrifuge and something that "crushes" the fruit. The difference should be day and night. I've been researching and I've been debating between an Omega VSJ843 and Kuvings B6000 ( ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-J7jCS6JTBgw.html ) and I might pull the trigger on the Kuvings (it's the only one with a wide mouth which kinds feels like the Breville fountain thing I've been using). That's just my taste and opinion. Cheers :)

Thank you. And no, a blender will not work to blend the apple and carrot without adding any water to it because most blenders are not designed to work that way and process ingredients that way. Blenders typically require a liquid or the motor may burn out when trying to process foods that are too dense. A juicer is needed to make a juice from these foods, and if you don't have one, you can make a smoothie from these foods using a blender and some water.

Me am actually planning on buying a juicer one that I can actually afford I got a question am still wondering when is it good to put sugar in juice because let's say carrot juice I never drink carrot juice without sugar it does not taste good with no sugar but I wanna know is it good to put sugar in juice ?

You do not need to drink any such juice, unless you WANT to. This is not any kind of medicine or magic bullet. Drink it when you feel your body wants it or needs it.

Just tried it. Wow. Incredible flavor and color, too. I realized I could just wash the carrots with a scrubby--too much work to peel--and just cut off the ends. The apples are easy since you only have to use a couple, so I did peel them and cut out the core with seeds. Just waiting to see if the juice will give me gas. I hope not. LOL

marc cohen Wonderful to hear!!! So in terms of prep, yes, if you have organic carrots, no need to peel, just wash well, and cut off the ends. That is exactly what I do with mine. And yes, good idea to peel the apples if you don't have organic. To support best digestion, be sure to drink it on an empty stomach, or before a meal, not after.

Thank you so much for the feedback Jean. With regards to your question, definitely not. Smoothies use whole foods and offer the most benefits for day-to-day use and health and nutrition benefits, whereas juices are extracts and should be used discriminately, such as for cleansing or healing the body. They can be used as a snack or nutrient boost on a regular basis, if they are done right at home and based mostly on vegetables, not fruits. However in general, the more and closer we stick to the whole food itself, the better.

There is no minimum or maximum of how much of this juice one could or should have. The key for optimal health is to have a diet that is full of whole plant foods, especially fruits and vegetables.

What are you trying to ask? If I understood you correctly, you are asking how many daily servings are in 16oz of the juice. And this is why my answer was as it was, that there is no set number of a daily serving for such a juice. This is real food, so it is up to us to drink as much or as little as works for us. The bag I used was a 2lb bag. But with these kinds of recipes you really don't have to measure anything specifically. Just have more carrots than apples, and adjust for your volume needs or taste preferences. Cheers!

This one is actually quite easy to clean where juicers go. Unfortunately they do not make it anymore, but there are others like it. It is the masticating juicers that are the most tedious to clean, not so much these centrifugal ones.

ALL fresh fruits and vegetables are the healthiest foods to eat for any child or adult, especially pregnant women. Consuming them in a juice like this is one possible way to increase how many fruits and vegetables you eat in a day. But don't confuse these homemade juices with store-bought juices, which are pasteurized and lacking in nutrients and/or have added sugars and other additives.

The skin is where a large concentration of the nutrients are. As long as you are buying organic and washing, you want to keep the peels for the juice.

Annie, it all depends on what an individual is looking for. I make instructional videos with lots of information and tips to offer most value to people. I completely understand if you don't enjoy my style, but perhaps saying it in a kinder way would be more helpful next time.

I don't own a juicer. Is it possible to just use my blender?

A blender will typically create smoothies, which are not juices. Both have their own properties, uses and benefits. If you have a high-powered blender, like a Vitamix, you can make juices with it if you have a nut milk or straining bag. You would simply dump the contents of what your blender made into the bag, and strain through to separate the juice from the pulp and fibers.

Cleaning these is a pain. The machine has many square edges and ridges that poke and scrape your hand when cleaning.

Yes, it can be indeed. It all depends on the kind of juicer one gets. This one is actually pretty easy to clean, as long as you clean it right away and not let the pulp sit and dry.

Yes, that is correct Hisham, we will each refer to the measurements that are most common in our region. However, for any uncertainties or conversions, you can just use Google and get the measurements in the measurement unit of your choice. As for juicers, you can use any juicer that will work for you. Carrots and apples do not require a fancy juicer, and the one I am using is not either, as they are very easy to juice with pretty much any juicer.

Not at all. Such a juice has minimal calories and would be typically used to lose weight, not to gain weight.

I tried today and it was awesome. But the fruit guy advised me not to make carrot juice everyday. And I want to know whether I can make the apple juice in the morning then drink in the evening?

Ka Yeung Tso When it comes to juicing, we can definitely benefit more by drinking lots of green-based juices, rather than more sugar-based juices. I assume this is why you may have been advised not to make carrot juice everyday. Besides that, it is good to have variety in our diet. This is where we can get the most benefits, as each fruit, vegetable and other plant food has its own unique and beneficial nutritional profile. So while some freshly made apple juice sometimes may be okay for you, it will be more of a sugar-rich juice, where we are missing out on the goodness and health benefits of the whole apple and its beneficial fiber to make sure that sugar is working for, rather than against us. But yes, generally speaking you can make any juice in the morning and drink it in the evening, as long as it is kept in a tightly sealed container that allows juice to take most of the space (leaving very little room, if any for air (oxygen) at the top) and refrigerated.

Thanks for your feedback. The point of my work is to teach about health and nutrition, and not just do recipes. And it is not an effective way to teach or for people to learn to hear one thing, while they are trying to pay attention to me doing a different thing. Hence my videos are longer and right for those who want to learn the extra info.

No, it doesn't need to be organic. Non organic fruit and veg is every bit as good for you as organic is. Stop pushing this myth!! Otherwise, yes, juicing is good for you! :)

Thanks Lucy, but food that is grown without synthetic chemicals and fertilizers and GMOs being better is not a myth, it is basic logic. I don't know where your opinion is coming from, or what stake or personal motivation you have for saying such things, but if you care about your own health and wellbeing, never mind that of others, I would invite you to re-think your stance.

I am a scientist, I understand the science behind GMOs. I'm not trying to be controversial or look for confrontation, it's just a matter of fact that there is nothing wrong with GMOs whatsoever yet this myth continues to circle in this community. Organic food is being pushed on people and in many cases, organic is a good option but it is also a lot less affordable and people feel bad if they cannot afford it and believe they're having to settle for GMOs but they needn't worry as there is absolutely nothing wrong with GMOs. I am not saying processed food as such is a god thing as we all know certain preservatives etc are added, making foods much more sugary or salty but this is not necessarily the case with GMO foods. A lot of foods we eat are GMOs such as bananas and corn -- there's no such thing as a non GMO banana, carrot or corn but people do not realise this. These foods have been genetically manipulated for centuries -- that's all GMO means but people seem to think it means poisons thrown on the food to help it grow which absolute nonsense.

And so it is, with many such things in our world today, but we can have peaceful resolution if we each focus on doing what we each feel is right, without infringing on the work of the other.

The_Red_Queen many countries have kicked Monsanto/gmos out of their countries due to the detriment of health. The information is staggering~ cannot believe anyone would say the gmo stuff is 'good for you' anymore. We all have opinions, this or that degree and so on. In the end, so to speak, it's a personal choice.

I've been juicing awhile and I've made this recipe lots... but I would never juice apple seeds thats not good at all. cyanide poison isn't the most healthy method

Maggie thank you for your feedback. The nature of all of my videos is intended to be educational and teach people about their food, provide tips, etc...not just show a recipe. Cannot please everyone...so it all depends on what a person is looking for that will determine whether they resonate with specific material or not.
