Try different beers IPA’s are a bit fruity but the ending taste can be intimidating, if you feel confident and wanna grow hair on your balls or pussy start with Stouts or Porters. Lagers and Ales are good starter beers since Ales are more on the sweeter side, Lagers can sometimes just be pure piss water, but a good place to start.
@@ericktellez7632 I agree with both of you tbh. A new drinker is less likely to be able to appreciate a quality liquor, being an aged single malt scotch (my preference) or beautiful tequila. The quality will be lost on them unless they've built the pallet. Regarding OP you ultimately do save a lot of money by NOT drinking and building up that pallet.
Remember kids, that's everybody's choice, and you can't make it for someone else. Also, almost nobody who drinks is an alcoholic, stop pretend it's everybody.
@@markstaudfor sure but 50% of americans and many people in developed countries will die of heart and cardiovacular issues before liver damage, a sober but shit diet life is shorter in some ways
@@thehasslon633 Johnny Drinks isn't an alcoholic at all, the point of the videos is to drink slow and for the enjoyment of the taste. This day drinking stuff is part of the videos, it's a joke. Alcoholism is drinking just because the addiction needs the alcohol, without any appreciation of the taste or attitude coming with a fine spirit.
Y’all should do a This vs. That series where you show better tasting alternatives for common beer, cocktails, spirits etc or ways to add flavor to common cocktails like a simple vodka soda for newer drinkers. For example instead of buying a bottle of Burnett’s buy a bottle of deep eddy’s
@@-Sam69 Well Sam, no I didn’t hear what I typed because those are words on a screen and secondly, alcoholism implies a physical or emotional dependence on alcohol, not the casual enjoyment.
I was the same in high school, and as soon as I turned 21 I went straight for occasional cocktails and whiskey neat but only once or twice a week if I’m feeling wild
I work at a restaurant at the bar and the owner is always there. I have to make him either sherry-soda or a gintonic and I have to say they are both disgusting 😭
Honestly that sounds really wholesome and adorable. It’s nice to see elderly folk enjoying what they like. After all, they’ve already gone through life, they might as well kick back and relax.
I’d love more (brief) backstory on how he became so knowledgeable about mixing. He comes across as an enthusiast, like a hobby almost. Not alcoholic by any means. But he has so much information buried away! Love these shorts.
I started drinking at age 50. My ex, who I was married to for 31 years, wouldn’t let me drink, ever! I really enjoy your videos and the education I receive about alcohol and life happenstance. Keep up the great work!
You don't need to learn anything. But drinking high ABV spirits requires a different technique. Small sips, like hot coffee. Personally got into higher ABV drinks through rum, now a whisk(e)y guy. With whisky: higher quality drinks easier, ABV isn't all But your journey is your journey, your preferences are your preferences.
Yep starting that smoking addiction young good for you 💪 I wish you the best of luck with your future lung cancer. But nah seriously be careful cause smoking will very much fuck up your life.
I literally did this exactly backwards throughout my life ,not including the beer. Started with whiskey, currently on seltzers ,and haven’t yet made it to wine .
Cocktails are fun at all ages! I’m 23 and I’m building together a home bar, I love exploring new cocktails and feeling out what flavor combinations I like. It’s also easy to keep the ABV down that way because of mixing and dilution and all that
Uuuhh, bro. I’m from Easter Europe. My first drink was a shot of whisky at 16 and I came to beer only like 4 months later… but yea, me and my homies did have some nice sleeps in the woods from passing out after😅
I been drinking since I was in the womb. Don’t get drunk. You need to stop at the buzz. If you’re drinking to black out? You have issues that need addressing. Just don’t get drunk
I quit before I was 21 partying getting "lit" Vodka ,Fireball, Patron, piss water , 4 Loko etc I definitely learned my lesson hahah it ain't worth it but your channels just fun to watch ahhah keep up the videos
Fucking preach dude. So many people in the comments bragging about they started drinking heavy in high school. Most of them are bullshiting, but the ones that aren't are gonna wake up one day and need dialysis and realize that being cool & edgy wasn't worth the damage.
Imagine being super healthy and shitting all over it. Don’t start drinking if you don’t. It’s horrible for you. Don’t act like you only have one either. You get drunk you are wrong. Point blank
This is solid advice, but i actually found it easier to start with cocktails (the lighter stuff like daquiris and cosmos, not dirty martinis). Beer and wine were much more of aquired tastes for me (for whatever reason).
True, that mostly comes down to thats most People growing UP drinks sweet drinks like soda when they "go out" with friends and that. So the sweeter cocktails is the first ting we bartenders recomend to "new" drinkers, then move over to madeby a amaretto and the to a wiskey sour
I had my first drink when i was 27, tried beer was disgusting and then wine didnt like it at all, tried coconut rum with cola and it was good. I stopped drinking now the only thing I gained from these drinks is that i slept really really well but didn’t feel light headed or anything else.
I left Mormonism when I was 21, I started by drinking really sugary margaritas and that was the only alcohol I liked. Now I don’t really enjoy the sugary cocktails and really like slow sippers like a Negroni or drinking whiskey neat
I love how no matter what he's got in front of him if you walk up and you tell him you're recording a video he drops everything he's happy to oblige.y'all are awsome.
Nothing but the hard stuff and seltzer’s lol but mostly whiskey. Never liked beer I started with bottles proofed over 80+ and never looked back… it would be cool (and easier for social reasons cause everyone has beer) if I liked beer but fuck it whiskey vault here I come
I started drinking dry red wine as a preteen. My favorite drink in my mid teens were Knob Creek, Woodford Reserve & Bookers. You'd think I'd be alcoholic but I barely drink anymore. I had less than 2 dozen drinks a year for the last few years
I feel like I’ve noticed a trend and it’s either people who start drinking a ton at a younger age either end up as an alcoholic or by the time they actually reach adulthood or later adulthood they stop drinking a lot or entirely. There’s rarely ever an in between at least from what I’ve seen.
Wow I feel more experienced, literally started drinking beer and wine in my teens (growing up in the Mediterranean), started spirits when I was about 17/18 (legal where I’m from) made my first cocktail at 19. Now I am studying mixology (now 27), learnt to mix, measure and taste
Nah, go to a bar. Ask for the sweetest thing they got. Drink that for a while and get used to the taste. Once you acquire that taste for it, experiment with more traditional cocktails. Beer and wine a gross, don't at me.
Aside from beer, wine, and "party drinks" (tequila shots, vodka Redbull, etc) my go to has been scotch on the rocks or whiskey neat. I grew up sipping a little bit with my dad as well as some Grand Marnier while he'd talk about his Italian childhood, going to Catholic school, all of the crazy things he did in his teen years, just telling his story. They are some of my absolute favorite memories. I'm 21 going on 22 and my friends are always surprised by my more "sophisticated" taste in drinks but I just have to explain that that's what I've been drinking since I was 12ish😂
Why would you kill your testosterone? Men look worse when they drink alcohol and you’re becoming more of a woman. Don’t believe me? Look at the fall of testosterone in men. Alcohol, raises estrogen so in essence you’re becoming a woman.
My advice is to jump straight into craft beers. You can literally get craft beers that taste like anything you want. I've had crafts that taste just like carrot cake and crafts that taste like a steak dinner. I even had a craft beer that tasted like a dreamsicle once!
Why wouldn’t you do seltzers first? And why in the hell should the 50 year olds gatekeep drinking neat whisky and gin? This recommendation is bonkers. 😂
For my 19th birthday I got myself a bottle of Four Roses Single Barrel and spent 40 minutes working through a single glencairn glass while I wrote up tasting notes.
I feel like my 40s has been robbed 😕 im 22 and im a spirit/cigar consultant for work. I drink/study whiskeys, tequila, rum, scotch and Cigars. Im not really a wine guy but craft beers are interesting/fun to jump into! cheers on everybody's journey!
Not sure if this comment will go unnoticed but please keep me in your prayers. I used to have 5 brain tumors but now I have only 2 left to go. In the past I had thoughts of suicide, lost my hearing, and even have seizures sometimes now… but by the grace of God I’m still alive. Now enough about me fam.. If you’re reading this comment I hope things get better for you. Keep your head up because everything you’ve gone through hasn’t killed you and you’re closer to where you’re trying to get than where you started from.. so you gotta keep going. One love and God bless ❤️
Okay so I've had Mojito, Cosmopolitan, Mai Tai, Moscow Mule, Processo, Sangria, Pina Colada, Blue Lagoon, And Daquiri. They were all non alcoholic cuz I'm a muslim lol
Just started probably only a once per year type of thing so my girl and I did 2 and a half shots of coconut and pineapple vodka with pineapple juice personally I won’t be feeling anything cuz I’m 6’2 330 lbs but she might she’s 5’8 120
Been drinking since I was a baby 😢 whiskey and coke in my baby bottle. I'm trying to quit. Been a roller coaster so long now. I'm not giving up...... Alcohol. (Lol sry dark humor, I'd absolutely love to quit)
