Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire, or simply Interview with the Vampire, is an American gothic horror television series created by Rolin Jones for AMC, based on the 1976 novel of the same name by Anne Rice. The series follows the vampire Louis de Pointe du Lac (Jacob Anderson) who recounts his life with his maker Lestat de Lioncourt (Sam Reid) and teenage vampire Claudia (Bailey Bass and Delainey Hayles) to veteran journalist Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian), accompanied by ancient vampire Armand (Assad Zaman). The series embraces the homosexual elements of Rice's work, which are only insinuated in the 1994 film adaptation of the novel. It is the first television series in Rice's Immortal Universe.
Interview with the Vampire received a series order in June 2021, after AMC Networks had purchased the rights to intellectual property encompassing 18 of Rice's novels, primarily The Vampire Chronicles, in 2020. The series was renewed for an eight-episode second season in September 2022, ahead of the premiere of its first season on October 2, 2022.
The first season received critical acclaim, with praise going towards the writing, tone, costumes, soundtrack, production values, performances (particularly those of Anderson and Reid), and chemistry between the two actors.
Adapted from Anne Rice's 1976 gothic horror novel Interview with the Vampire, the series centers on the life story of vampire Louis de Pointe du Lac, as told to journalist Daniel Molloy. An affluent black man in 1910s New Orleans, Louis is romanced and later made a vampire by the charismatic Lestat de Lioncourt. But the price of immortality is steep, and the relationship between Louis and Lestat is further complicated by the introduction of Lestat's newest fledgling, the teenage vampire Claudia.

Lestat is actually the main character in these books and favourite Ann Rices character but i like how Louis is more complete and better as a character in these series cuz book and movie Louis was always boring to me Jacob did amazing job portraying him and i hope he’s gonna be in focus throughout the seasons of this show

I read the books and I can say that I love the Show! My favourite has always been Lestat and Sam Reid is wonderful! But the truth is… if you think Lestat is manipulative, you haven't met Armand yet... so get ready!

Great reaction, thanks! Between the clinically excised pages from Claudia's diary and clinically excised memories from Louis's mind, Louis is going to need Daniel in Season 2 to restore himself, I think. Someone said the moment Louis linked hands with Armand and called him the love of his life, somewhere on the planet Lestat was flipping the f- out, lol. Lestat, come get your boy!

there is trailer out for s2, and a new clip released as a teaser already you can watch :) I can not wait for S2. Armand is a really famous character in the books so everyone is excited about seeing the real Armand next season :)

@elliotalderson240 I read the books and I'm excited lol! excited because I know what's coming... and excited to see Assad's performance as Armand. it's gonna be a wild ride. and let's be careful even with such vague references it can be spoiler-ish... also looking forward to the fact that the show can maybe still surprise me no matter how much I know the books

As someone who hasn't read the books (yet) but saw the movies and is familiar with the story and most of the characters, I feel so intrigued by seeing Armand in action. I've heard awful things about him from the books fans, and I'm excited to see what type of villain he will be in the show.

Read Vampire Armand. It's a loong book but also a book that got me into this universe. I loved it and still remember the last sentence after over 15 years (a first book I read when allowed into adult section of our local library)

Louis never calls Lestat "my love," and does so now while trying to kill him (or to warn him?), so Lestat calls Antoinette "my love" to be petty.

When Lestat called Antoinette "my love" while Louis and Claudia were lurking on the balcony I was SO mad. Then when he called her "my love" to mock Louis I thought, "Lestat, you are SUCH a d**k!". He really is the Brat Prince.

@elliotalderson240 Yeah, Louis was ambivalent about this; to suddenly call him an endearment he has never used (especially with Lestat's insecurities about Louis not loving him at all) seems like a warning, I agree.

Yes the format will stay for S2. It will cover the second half of the book and also taking elements from the second book (The Vampire Lestat) nad sixth book (The Vampire Armand). So we'll get glimpses to Lestat's history though it's not directly from him. So, it will be different than the movie cos the movie only covers the first book (though it does spoil major plot points). Jacob said S2 will be even darker than the books EDIT: Fun fact. The 1st season was planned to be 8 episodes that covers the whole first book. But because of pandemic and cost, they have to split them. So 7 episodes + 8 episodes= 15 ep total for first book. And they rewrote it like a month before shooting. The writers of this show are insane

Please react for the sneak peak for season 2 and the first look scene! Armand is Rashid's real name. I am so excited for season 2!. Actress Bailey Bass (Claudia) won't be coming back for season 2 she was recasted to be actress Delainey Hayles. So excited to what she brings to the character as well.

I assumed they had arranged a meeting ahead of time instead of just showing up and he dug out the photograph. If Tom hadn't seen them for 17 years but had heard the whispers about them he probably had the photo as proof of their agelessness.

Great reaction! I love this show, and it's so interesting watching someone react to this who doesn't know who Armand is because it seemed to me that people would just be saying, "Who?" if they never heard of him, but it clearly worked.

The interesting thing about the episode titles is that they are all book quotations (on one occasion, it's a combination of two quotations). I wonder whether this will be the case in season two.

@elliotalderson240until that's revealed this isn't relevant cause nothing shows Claudia knows this. Unlike other versions this Claudia actually cares about Louise so if he died it would have been a mistake that lestat (shockingly😒) never told them.

@elliotalderson240 ok so I just realized you weren't talking literally. That still doesn't mean much considering Louis is an immortal vampire who could totally love again and lestat no matter how much we love him and Louis together were still toxic. It makes zero sense to consider Claudia killing Louises abusive boyfriend as a failure or betrayal in the same way as Louis time and again choosing lestat over Claudia.

Armand is a piece of work. You think Lestat is callous, get ready for Armand. Lestat and Armand have history going way back and major beef too. Also, Armand is definitely not the love of Louis' life... or honestly, Louis is not the love of Armand's life either... that is such a "WTF?!" moment that I can't help but laugh. Daniel is, by the way, a fucking champ calling Louis out on his lying, but the star of this episode was Claudia for me. The badass princess tricked Lestat and that is not easy to do.

Yeah, I don't believe that Louis is the love of Armand's life or Armand is the love of Louis' life... I just think that Armand has manipulated and gas lid and twisted Louie's reality around enough that I think LOUIS believes that ... but I don't think it's true.

@@AnxietyRat I think Louis needs to believe it in order to function without both Lestat and Claudia. He has so much trauma. Even Armand says in his own book that Louis stayed all those years simply because he had to. "He remained with me because he had to do it. It was the only way that he could go on."

I read an interesting theory once that considered why the bookshelves were placed up by the ceiling, out of reach for Louis who claims to never have had the cloud gift. Why would Armand limit his access to those books? Are they particular volumes containing information Armand doesn’t want Louis to know or wants Louis to forget?

What a fantastic reaction to a wonderfully suspenseful finale - it's been an utter joy to see how much you enjoyed it!! With the S2 trailer looking suitably FAB, I'm really going to struggle to contain my need for it over the coming months! Not enough words of praise for EVERYTHING that makes IWTV so special! Bravo!

If you like this show you will probably also like Hannibal, the TV show. No vampires, but there are murders and blood and eating people, so, almost the same thing. 😜 The relationship between Hannibal and Will (Hannigram) is on par with Loustat and their fncked up bullsh!t, I've heard a reactor say that Hannibal walked so Interview with the Vampire could run. 😁

It’s actually the opposite, Bryan Fuller (Hannibal showrunner) has said that Hannibal and Will’s dynamic is directly based on Lestat and Louis’ relationship! He’s a huge Anne Rice fan.

@@Atomic0range Fuller tried to be part of the new adaptation in 2018 but left the project like many others where he didn't try? And you are exaggerating when you say that Fuller BASED Hannibal on vampires, when Fuller mentioned on the podcast that there is a lot of stuff in Hannibal from Lestat and Louis, as a fan of creativity, even the AUTHOR of something consumes inspiration in something, but HANNIBAL and the characters Hannibal and Will were BASED on Thomas Harris and Fuller did not draw other relationships from a completely different book; according to the FILM, the dynamics are really similar, as well as abuse (in Hannibal there is no ridicule, humiliation and neglect, but physical violence), the dynamics of transformation into vampires AND BECOMING in Hannibal for TRANSFORMATION is the basis of Thomas Harris's books, family dynamics, Lestat and Hannibal talk a lot about man and God and a bunch of other similar quotes, the dynamics of free and happy in who they are are Lestat and Hannibal and Louis and Will doubting and conflicting with themselves (remotely again), homoeroticism Fuller DIDN'T WRITE based on someone else's book Harris's work and Harris's characters where the basis is taken where Hannibal speaks to Will in the book YOU CAUGHT ME BECAUSE YOU'RE SO CRAZY, Fuller saw more bromance and potential here You were right in saying that Fuller is a fan, but NOBODY based the series on someone else’s book; for this, Fuller only had Harris himself, and besides, he made references and was inspired by something all his life and introduced it into his work, and even FANS see parallels and coincidences in two works

In order to compare them more canonically, it is better to perceive the film, for me the series has a COMPLETELY different tone from Hannibal and the PAST adaptation smells like Hannibal, in the new vampires there are only remnants of dynamics, so switching to supposedly “the same thing” is nonsense

I absolutely love armand, although is is worse than lestat (in the books), he's such an interesting and fascinating character. SPOILERS (book fans only) That man literally dates the whole cast so.. YEAH, but his relationship with (book fans know who(QOTD)) is my second favorite right under Louis and Lestat so I'm very excited for that

As a reader of the book series its exciting to see people new to the characters & the universe. Just something about the movie (not spoilers), but it doesn't feel really rushed, it just leaves out a lot from the books so it won't probably be as accurate as season 2 will be but it's still absolutely amazing, but it ofc has to leave out a lot since it's only an hour and 30-50 minutes so it does an amazing job fitting the right amount in!

Yeah, at first I thought, I don''t know what I wanted from the finale, but that wasn't it. It took me a little bit to get in sync with it. I've watched the whole show several times since.

To be honest with you, in this case I would urge you to watch the movie now. Because it is such a loose adaptation, half the fun is to see which plot points they stick to and which one they remix or disregard alltogether. Even knowing the books and the movie, this is extremely gripping.

I loved your reaction, every time Louis and Lestar went out, I liked them, because they had a very toxic but adorable relationship 🤭, and I was a little sad about Lestar's death, because I never thought it would be Louis who gave him death, and that scene is felt. especially when he grabs him and screams, because he wanted him dead but he also wanted him alive, he was very dependent. You enjoyed, like me, all the episodes and until the second season arrives, the I watch it again and again 😂😂especially the first one which is super sexy. Sam Reid acted with sensuality and poise, I've seen his movies, and none of them have moved me as much as this series, the cast of it is spectacular.

Hello, the is the Finale but it's only the half way point of the story. S2 will cover the 2nf half of the book. Armand is awesome.

FINALLY!!! So happy trhat you will start reacting to 'What we do in the shadows'! It's such a fun and silly show! I would recommend that you watch the movie (What we do in the shadows 2014) first! It's different vampires, but the same universe and a lot of fun to.

It's a shame Bailey Bass won't stay on as Claudia but I trust the casting change won't have a big impact. Hopefully next season is even better so we can get other stories like a proper Queen of the Damned.

Lestat is still alive. The film and the series are aligned with the plot to destroy Lestat, the poisoning of the twins , leaving Lestat in the dump, and Louis escaping to France with Claudia.
