I've always thought Andy Powell was a big headed bastard, although I can't deny his guitar credentials and I love wishbone ash up until twin barrels burning! It's great to see you keeping the music alive Martin!
What an appalling interview by someone who is clueless! While Andy Powell & MT were twice in the same Band why would one keep asking questions referencing AP when one has clearly been told of the antipathy between them? But the unforgivable sin is asking why one can't find the album that MTs replacement played on! Why, in God's name would MT know, or care anything about it after an unpleasant split? Perhaps you wanted to interview Andy Powell instead?
Cannot understand you people who think Andy Powell is Wishbone Ash.This band is defined by Argus written almost exclusively by Martin Turner with some help from Steve Upton. No prizes for where Steve's loyalty is with.

I've been listening to Wishbone Ash since 1970. As great and innovative was their dual lead guitar, when I think of wishbone ash, it's more of Martin Turner's vocal, songwriting and storytelling bass lines (like no other) that is the brand. I'd bet anything Martin had the strongest work ethic of anyone in the band. Hears the test for me... when I listen to Martin's band and then Andy's band, Martin's band is the wishbone ash I know and love, Andy's band is missing that unique attention to detail... I don't know how else to explain it.
Before Wisbone Ash Laurie Wisefield was with a band called Home and made two excellent albums, Home and Pause for a hoarse horse. Confirm Martin's view of Andy. Exactly my impression.

The Raven was brought to powell like just about every tune he has put out over the years by the players he recruited with contractual demands that they bring so much material and it becomes "wishbone Ash's" In other words when they have had enough of him , he owns the material.
The original Wishbone Ash line up, M Turner, T Turner, Upton and Powell was the best by far and Argus without doubt their greatest work. The falling out with Powell is very sad. Members came and went for various reasons leaving Powell as the sole remaining original member. As I recall M Turner then started associating Wishbone Ash with his new band which was very confusing for fans. You can`t have 2 Wishbone Ash bands. Powell claimed the rights to the name through the Court , rightly so in my opinion. Wishbone Ash (Powell) still going strong and about to embark on a UK tour
First up , there is NO BEST in music , saying one line up is the best is a garbage statement . '' In my opinion ''' Laurie Wisefield was the best guitarist in the band . Powell's band is NOT Wishbone Ash . Its Wishbone Powell . Martin Turner's band is not Wishbone Ash either but its closer. The singer and principle songwriter are always the most important in any band . Powell CANNOT sing but it still has not struck home lol.
@@danvelgtr I generally agree, but you see... the official continuation of Wishbone Ash is Andy Powell's. It is just that simple. Yes he is the sole member remaining, but he always continued the line up whether people like it or not. Martin deffo needs to accept the result of the court case.
The Wishbone Ash unique sound was build on the twin guitar harmonies of Ted Turner and Andy Powell. Martin Turner left / was sacked whatever and Powell has remained the constant throughout. Powell is Wishbone Ash and won a Court case to prove it. Martin Turner performs as Martin Turner ex Wishbone Ash (see his website) enough said.

What a terrible interview; the guy asking the questions doesn't seem to know his stuff and hasn't done his research. As for MT, well.......that whole 'I hate Andy Powell' routine is really getting old and tired now. Martin mate, you lost in court [ big time ] because you didn't have a case, simple as that. If you want to say that you stood on some sort of point of principle then I respect that but you have to accept the outcome, you didn't have to be there, you could have used the band name that you are using now and everyone would have been happy and you wouldn't have gone bankrupt plus you and AP could have been planning something decent for the 50th anniversary. To me the pair of you share the blame and you need to sort out your differences before it is too late. Even your comments about Ted and his wife seem a bit unkind and he's supposed to be your mate. Come on, you're surely better than this.
