Antiquarian`s betrayal really hurts me more. its like that cute cuddly member of your group that does her best to support her teammates and then 50 episodes and 10 traumatizing experience later they come back as a psycho killer.

Main problem with Flagellant: now that he's blight based, we have *two* blight-themed heroes, and no bleed-themed heroes. Plus with Arbalest/Musketeer gone, only one character uses a ranged weapon, and half the time he just uses a knife.

after playing 1 for so long, I almost had an eyegasm with how the battle animations work. it's fascinating, and you can actually understand how a club attack can deal 12 damage, those damn zombies show how much it weights as they flail it to your head.

The DEATH'S DOOR > DEATH'S DOOR > RIPOSTE > DEATHBLOW chained mechanics are fucking incredible. Pure injected mix of adrenaline, fear and dopamine at once into your veins.

The whole "you are a horse" bit is a great joke, but it also made me realize we're most likely playing as the mad coachman from the first game. He's got ties to both the heroes and the ancestor, and he's the only one I can think of who'd be crazy enough to REPEATEDLY go on these loony road trips through hell (and somehow SURVIVE).

There's a mod on Nexus that lets you pick Bounty Hunter permanently, he appears at the crossroads and can form relationships, someone is currently working on de-upgrading his skills so you use mastery points on him at the inn. He's my favourite character in DD1 so the event-esque role they designed for him annoyed me, luckily that mod makes him an actual hero though.

I think my biggest concern is the shift to 3d. The first game being 2d meant that the mod support for the game was INCREDIBLY accessible! And even contributed to why its still like KNOWN. I dont know how creating 3d assets if this game has mod support is gonna work out honestly :0

I like your take on why DD2 is so different from DD1. It needed to be different otherwise it would just get lost/overshadowed by mods for DD1.

I personally just love about the Flagellant that he's literally ding dong ditched on Deaths Door so hard, it's made the Reaper flip out and go "Fuck it, I'll do it myself!"

The only thing i want from future updates is more adventures and more heroes. To be honest im enjoying the game nontheless but still. (I miss you Reinauld)

I love DD1 so much. But I loke the progression and streamlined presentation of DD2 as well. DD2 even if I fail feels like I at least make progress towards improving the next run. Both very different games and very enjoyable.

Darkest doubloon 2 is an amazing example of 1. A sequel to a game I love 2. An objectively good game and 3. A game I fucking hate and do not enjoy playing in any capacity. I hate it so much and what they did to the world/characters disgusts me.

Personally I really want the houndmaster back. He was, by far, my favorite character.

Good news, they brought back my favorite boy. Bad news, they took away his abs. News news, the modders are horny as hell and he'll probably get his abs back, or become a dommy mommy zombie. Win/win(?)

I've heard a primary flaw with this game is that death lacks the impact it had in the first. Since any single hero dying usually means the run is immediately over, there isn't that same sense of loss. Instead you just start a new run with that hero a few minutes later. If I had been designing this game, I'd have let you take the entire roster with you, and allowed you to swap out which 4 heroes were in the main seats at rest points. That way when someone died, you'd keep struggling onwards while missing their abilities and personality. As more and more heroes died, your party composition would grow more and more dysfunctional and desperate. You'd get that growing sense of dread as you keep trying to make things work despite it all.

I think it would be really cool if they added abom to the roster down the line And yeah I am still sad about how BH works now, he was my old favourite character in DD1

Giving my humble opinion about the game as someone who extensively played both DD1 and DD2... I think DD1 is the better game. You have more stuff to do, the micro-management is a core part of the gameplay, and it's meant to be a stresseful but rewarding experience based on overcoming something that's, supposedly, hard. It's a game with a bleak story and hopelessness is the whole atmosphere. DD2, though, is the better experience. Most people jump into DD2 expecting Darkest Dungeon 1 - 2 The Game. It's not. And while the first game's all about sadness and sorrow, DD2 is about hope. The emotional complexity of this game is absurd, and if you play it and pay attention to what the chapters mean, both in a vacuum and also bundled up together, you get a ludicrous amount of life lessons. Positive ones, too. Each map reflects in one way or another how people deal with depression (resignation, unbridled fury, loops of whatever provides you dopamine, yadda yadda) while each chapter boss represents aspects of grief and depression as well. i.e. Chapter's 2 boss, Resentment, being a dragon and its wings are two lungs. It's weird at first, sure. But what tends to be the first thing someone does when they get furious? They scream. Thus, the lungs. I digress. The thing is... DD2 is full of symbolism and is almost therapy in a sense. DD1 is a more complex and content-rich game, gameplay wise. Both are amazing.

This has to be one of the first times that I enjoyed a twitch stream highlight reel more than I did the actual vid. That's not to say the review part was bad. It was good. But the twitch highlight was great in comparison.

I wish they added is some things to dodge in the travel mechanic but I guess they thought it was too hard.

Needs John Ward and Father Garcia cameo for character select. John is support and healing while Father Garcia is DPS and crowd control. That and 2 or 3 cameo paths: The Cemetery, The Candy Tunnels and The Garylands. Also 3 extra end bosses: Malphas, Astaroth and Super Miriam.

Darkest dungeon where people loved the dungeon, but some hated the town bits because "it stopped the combat" bruh as your ass was bleeding from the last ass kicking you got, you go to the town, fix your broken team, and get another to slap the dungeons again. you know; what the GAME IS NAMED FOR. but sure, complain that the part to break up the monotany of the dungeons, that the town was a terrible idea. now that no town is a thing, we've got people who miss the towns, myself included.

Me and between two and three people other people are devastated by the Musketeer being gone.

I had a run where due to some really bad luck and some disagreements at every refugee camp we passed, the Plague Doctor just had the rest of the team on her shit-list. At that moment it was great for the Bounty Hunter to show up. I kept her stowed away while going through the sluice and grinding out some whiskies.

That was pretty fun to watch.

Mechanically, the road itself is the dungeon, with the roadside stops being its "encounters." And although the first one, today, is great, it took years to get even decent. I still have hope in DD2.

Dismas was a real one, met god, shot it in the face. And lived to tell the tale. All he did was probably stub God in the toe and wake it up from his nap so I think he made things worse in the long run but that was still pretty cool.
