How to test and replace an A/C condenser fan relay and radiator or cooling fan relay.
How can you tell if a fan relay is bad? How do I test my AC condenser fan relay? What happens when the condenser fan fails? Why does my AC condenser fan stop running? How do you replace a radiator fan relay? How do you replace a AC condenser fan relay?
In this video I will show how to locate, remove and test the AC condenser fan relay and radiator cooling fan relay. As mentioned in the video, you'll find a playlist below that will help with most cooling fan problems and failures. If you cannot find either relay on your vehicle, try a simple Google Image search or a forum that deals specifically with your vehicle. Cheers.

The AC condenser fan relay controls power to the AC condenser cooling fan. When the relay is activated (powered), the AC condenser fan is switched on so that it can keep the AC condenser cool. If the AC condenser fan relay fails or is no longer working, the AC condenser fan cannot cool the AC condenser. This may lead to a condenser that becomes too hot and unable to cool the refrigerant that is necessary for the AC to blow cold air in the cabin.
Similarly, the radiator cooling fan relay controls power to the radiator cooling fan. When the relay is powered, the radiator cooling fan is switched on. Some vehicles have two speed cooling fans; a low speed and a high speed. If the relay for your vehicle has five or six prongs, visit the Cooling Playlist listed above.

Small terminals are the power to the coil in the relay that closes the switch and then allows battery power to go thru the relay to the device bring powered.

Can you please show how to test the trunk solenoid? My trunk lines/wires aren't broken, I can hear the truck click, but it doesn't open. Thanks in advance.

Is it possible the relay could work when first energized but fail after being energized for a while or heated up? My condenser fan usually starts up when turning on the AC but will stop after a few minutes or driving for a bit. It will not restart until I turn off the AC for a bit and then back on again. My mechanic suggested that this particular relay could be failing causing the fan to cut out

Having the exact issue. Was you able to find a fix?

@@blueballsbkueballs In my case my orifice tube was not working properly causing erratic pressures in the system. As a result, the pressure switch was turning the condenser fan off. My relays were fine.

@@widtrak77 thanks. Cold start condenser fan works , but after sometime it stops & relay is over heating. If I press the relay or wiggle, fan starts again.

@@blueballsbkueballs you likely have a poor or dirty connection at your relay/fuse box

@@widtrak77 could be but I am currently running radiator on deinoised water for flushing, I need to buy a new relay & coolant and see it helps. Thanks.
