Always a pleasure to see a plane restored back to it's era, and well done at that. As a kid, I built a plastic scale model of the 170B. Seeing your plane takes me right back.

As a kid I spent a lot of time in one of these. It had the mains moved back for a tricycle gear conversion. Not as nice as the original tail dragger to my mind. This is beautiful. Brings back memories.

I also had a 1953 C-170B with the MetcoAire tricycle conversion when I purchased it. First thing I did was to reconvert it back to conventional configuration. Fortunately, this wasn’t too big a task as the original gear box had been retained. Returned the legs to forward box, rerouted brake lines, reinstalled 3200 Scott tailwheel and chains and finally, modified the engine mount that did away the nose wheel steering. Viola! A real Cessna 170B. Because of the additional weight of the aft gear box, I was I only able to license it in Normal Category, rather than Utility. I owned it for nine years before upgrading (?) to an S35 Bonanza. It was the best, most fun airplane that I ever owned!
