I hope that, while the horror elements are certain in this game, it at least keeps *some* of the campiness from the original Leon: Saddler, you're small time! Ashley: YEAH, GET HIM LEON!
The original RE4 is such a classic. It’s a total black sheep of the series for a few reasons - the campiness and reduced horror being the main Reasons - but it just works in its favour. You can totally tell that Devil May Cry is the game’s long lost brother
I honestly hope hunnigan has more of presence here. She'd balance the more intense horror focus out and act as a sort of comfort for the player hearing a friendly voice. I also liked she got more depth in 6, willing to risk her neck for Leon and Helena.
I wouldn't mind giving her more involvement just shy of the mgs codec. Scripted portions as usual with optional calls at different locations of interest.
killer insight and observations - nobody does it better! would love to see the Leon parasite thing expanded. more stressful and anxiety inducing also - the zealots look insanely creepy!
A Luis playable section would be nice. Like when he dropped the sample and has to go get it in the castle. But he runs into saddler and has to run from some new enemy type....or something.
Or, even better, a post-game mini campaign about him, starting before the arriving of Leon and ending with a mini boss fight with a mid-trasformation Saddler. Just spitballing here, but man I'm so pumped for this announcement 😍
I really hope that they introduce Krauser in a better way. In the original RE4 he just turns up and we don't have a clue who he is but Leon just knows him from the past. Now we know about Operation Javier it would be cool to have a flashback or something included. Not everybody has played Darkside Chronicles so it would be an excellent way to introduce Krauser properly.
@@weskershades i doubt they do it too but it would be nice if they did that. either as a bonus mission or like a DLC hinting at perhaps a darkside chronicles/code veronica remake
It should play when Leon passes out for the first time by the lake. We wake up in a flashback of his missions before the events of re4 and each flashback shows what happened in that “saga” ending with krausers infection
One thing that concerns me, the whole plot of RE4 was that sadlers plan was to use ashley to infiltrate the whitehouse and infect more people with the plaga...but in this game those infected with the plaga look downright too monstrous for that plan to make sensed
Mabye he could make a type of plaga that's more low-key like a control plaga but without the control. Or you know go the other route give the daughter back they'll know she's infected and will put her in quarantine where before they even come up with a plan to cure her she will mutate into some kind of monster and just break out
I like the angle they're going for here with Leon, he has survivors guilt which is a very common thing to develop when you end up being one of the few survivors or only survivor of a traumatic event, and he probably believes that if he can bring Ashley back safely it will absolve him in some way of his guilt and the past "failure" as he deems it. Emotional depth to a character like Leon is oh so good, i cannot wait to see more of this game!
I DON'T like that angle. Leon in the original RE4 was a complete badass because he trained for 6 straight years due what happened to him in Raccoon City. He never wanted to be that unprepared again, but what's THIS Leon's backstory? Seems like he CRIED for 6 straight years, cuz this Leon seems like a soft little emo puss to me...
Yeah, let's turn what used to be a cheeky fun romp into a dreary, po-faced slog. Goofy shit like Leon's cheesy one liners and being chased by a giant Napoleon statue was what made the game so damn memorable.
The thing I look forward to the most about this remake is the use of lighting. The shot with the cult members in what looks to be the castle got me excited, imaging exploring the castle, but it’s dark and you can only see with the flashlight, just like Ashley’s section, and you hear the chants from the cult members in the dark. Love it.
Yeah maybe. It’s been done already though in several hallways in RE2R and in RE Village when you’re in the bowels of the castle. How could they make that experience more unique or interesting? 🤔
It really does seem like RE4 Remake will have more horror than its original. The atmosphere seems very eerie and they might have even decided to try and bring back elements for the original version of RE4, like that hallucination that chased Leon.
seriously, that'd be a huge bonus personally, the only section that I really wanted them to redesign is the military section near the end of the game, everything else is fine
@@Codex_0613 I kind of hated Salazar's giant robot thingy. There were a few sections I'd like to see changed. I really do hope It's more horror focused.
@@charliechow7853 haha ferreal. Now that they’re probably done with remakes, I’m excited to see where they take the 3rd person games in the next ten years.. Unless we get a Code Veronica remake, which seems just as likely as getting a RE5 remake. Personally I just want a 3rd person game back in Raccoon City, doesn’t have to be Leon or Chris
By the way on Ada’s outfit, she’s wearing a tactical turtleneck. And given the weather, that makes sense. But this change is also not bad because she still retains the same color to the dress seen in the original RE4.
@@LovePotion_ I'd presume there is no difference and they're just calling it tactical because it sounds cool only other thing I could maybe think is if there really is some sorta difference it might be the term they use for the turtlenecks with a tight fitting neckline compared to the turtlenecks with those loose floppy necklines (since tight fitting means more tactical?) but I dunno sounds dumb to call a sweater (or any piece of clothing for that matter) tactical.
@@ZSleepingDragonZ If they do actually do that they'll probably add unnecessary shorts like how Jill got a skort or they'll do something dumb like instead of it being a dress they turn it into a romper with a skirt covering the bottom.
I hope they incorporate a lot more of the laboratory setting into the island section of the game. Less of the annoying gun fights and more of the terrifying monstrosities causing you complete panic in tight, dingy hallways. The thought of the updated regenerators is so exiting, especially with the new engine used.
@@captainjaber5610 NO. Not Nest all over again. The island is actually pretty unique. A military base that's degraded into a garbage dump because the mind-controlled soldiers don't bother with the upkeep anymore. The lab parts feel more organically integrated into the environment. I'm still irked they completely replaced the Dead Factory in RE3 with Nest 2. I mean, really.
I hope Ashley also gets her own little inventory like she did when you played as her in RE4 but instead now she can heal you and hold onto any extra ammo you may have. I think the idea of her healing you up if your hurt in a fight would make her more useful as well.
Much of the horror in Re4 was how many enemies they threw at you. You're constantly fighting for your life and I hope they keep that same design philosophy while also expanding on the much needed moments like the regenerators and change the way the parasites sprout from the ganados. like instead of completely exploding their head make it to where they sprout from their neck and their head is jagged and still visible.
"change the way the parasites sprout from the ganados. like instead of completely exploding their head make it to where they sprout from their neck and their head is jagged and still visible." Maybe have a few pop from their stomachs.
I remember hearing that it was supposed to come out this year originally, so that they pushed it back and broke the yearly release they had kept since 2019 gives me hope that they really want this to be good.
I'm really hoping we get to play as Luis when he goes looking for the medicine. It would make his ultimate demise all the more heart wrenching being attached to him as we play him.
I am so excited for this remake; I feel like a 6yr old who's excited about a potential Christmas present, except I'm buying the present myself. This game will be such a terrifying trip down memory lane.
I really wonder how they'll handle the Merchant, especially since they're going for a more realistic tone. I doubt he'll be able to die or seemingly teleport anymore lol. He'll probably be a bit more like the Duke from RE8, unkillable and only found in more sparce designated zones. Assuming they'll be making him more like the Duke, it would be cool if we could interact with him a bit more, he was always a fun character.
@@yakthekuza7296 I would like to see him expanded on but I feel you can do that while still keeping his character a mystery. And when I say expanded on I solely mean just a bit more interaction. Original Merchant was just there to buy and sell stuff, that is all. They managed to do the Duke and still keep his character mysterious and feel they can do the same with the merchant.
I believe the merchant from RE4 is from a merchant family and uses under ground tunnels and such to get around so fast might be why the Duke knows him if he came from a prestigious family of merchants and his skills of being in the right place at the right time
The Duke totally teleports, since he can enter rooms with doors way too small for him... maybe it's a special power of merchants. If they expand the merchant with a minigame like the cooking stuff, I wonder what it will be.
I got RE4 on steam cause it was on sale and I never played it before. The same exact day the trailer for the remake comes out and I could not be more excited. I beat the game last night and I loved it. Thanks for the amazing content. Without this channel I'm not sure I would've ever given the original RE, RE0, and RE4 a chance. All of which were great experiences.
I beat this game last month for the millionth time, this time on my Nintendo Switch and man… How? How is it possible that this game, to this day, is so fun to play from start to finish? If the remake is disappointing (Which I doubt) we will always have the classic RE4 for us
This is the "a team" release like re2 was 3 was made by a sister "b squad" group and obviously they aren't the a team for a reason. This SHOULD be of the quality of 2 though it's hard to say story / gameplay wise how it will compare to the original.
I'm loving the darker tone of the game with the moonlight in the background and the fog. Capcom outdid themselves with RE2 Remake visuals and details. No doubt this'll be awesome!
I’m honestly highly hopeful that RE4 remake will live up to its hype. It really appears to take itself a lot more seriously than the original game. Plus it really reminds me of what I’m doing in my personal life outside of gaming. Years ago, I wrote this book and published it. It was known as “Road Ranger’s Rise.” It’s a story about betrayal and brutal justice. However I wrote it in a way that doesn’t take itself seriously enough. For example the beginning of the story shows the main character participate in a huge battle which doesn’t actually have much to do with the main story. The main character in question, who is an Army Ranger, was to be shown as the sole survivor of that battle. In this new rewrite of the book, there is no big battle in the beginning. Instead it shows the main character contemplating in his car. He goes over his memories of his deployments as an Army Ranger, his tragedy of his mother dying from a gunshot wound, and him being told that the law won’t do anything about what he suffered. He even talks to himself (without actually talking I should say) about taking matters into his own hands. He takes a gun out of his glove compartment, loads it, and you just know he’s about to do something nasty. This part of the story that acts as the opening is also chronologically in the middle of the story. Though it’s shown through the perspective of the protagonist. However after the opening first chapter, the second chapter goes back 48 hours before this event. The midpoint of the story, the same area that takes place in the opening first chapter, has a perspective switch of an important person to the main character who is revealed to be the traitor in his life. This is what RE4 original and RE4 remake really reminds me of. And honestly, I’m extremely excited. Edit: The new rewrite of the book is not called “Road Ranger’s Rise.” It’s simply titled as “The Road Ranger.”
Watching this when Suzi streamed it was pretty funny. The way she got all excited about it and then just like crashed. It was funny to see someone just talk about it so passionately.
I've been saying Hasta luego in Leon's voice for 17 years, I'm going to need that in the remake lol. On a more feature based note though, I would die if they added photomode to this: I wanted it so bad for the other remakes and we finally got it in 8 but it's not the best, I need to zoom in on every epic suplex when this game releases.
My dream scenario involves an extended Ashley section as a primer but I would also love to see Separate Ways incorporated into the main game as well as a playable Luis chapter sort of like Carlos' mission through the hospital in RE3R.
If it means beefing this up to 30+ hours, I will be there for all 30+ because this is sounding more and more epic. I don't want things being cut this time either.
@@ZenMonkeyGod as awesome as that sounds and I want it to be true, let's remember to be realistic in our expectations. we should expect the game to be at least minimum the same length as the original version, so around 15 hours. But if it is as cut down as 3's remake (as much as I like that game) it would be a tragic waste. 30 hours might be on the too extreme side because remember, the original game has some of the best pacing out there with it's only real lag moment being on the final Island, and 30 hours could be stretching it even for a remake.
@@4eyeT While I absolutely loved both Re2 and 3's remakes, they both had quite a bit missing so if RE4 got the same treatment, I wouldn't be surprised. In their now deleted comment, 30h seems highly optimistic and far too long if I'm honest. LoU2 clocked in around 25h in my first run and that was with essentially two full campaigns. I can't think of other Action Horror games that even come close to that time. I think Evil Within 2 is a closer comparison to RE4 and even that one only passed 15h due to some backtracking side quests which I can't see them putting into this remake.
I always enjoy hearing Sphere’s analysis about anything Capcom. But this is RE4, Capcom’s holy grail of games. Please don’t mess it up. ( I swear they better keep The Merchant in the game) Edit: and they did, yay
As a long time re fan going back to 96.... 4 is probably my least favorite (well next to 6) but I always like the promise of 4 just couldn't get down with the humor / gameplay changes (5 did the same but to me did it "right") so being able to finally experience 4 story but through a lense that looks much more in line with the other games in the series so far has me pumped. I know you're probably younger and played this game during a very nostalgia driven time frame in your life so its easy to look past / enjoy the low bar humor and action stuff but to me RE was always a very serious kind of game very intense and something that had you spooked and sweating not laughing your ass off. With the remakes leaning HEAVILY into what got me into the series to begin with (and being huge success in doing so) I'm really hoping they can do 4 but the proper way this time. Even Makami has said how they rushed the original and didn't put much thought into it so nows the chance to do it right.... Let's hope it delivers.
@@predetor911 The remake of RE3 was originally intended to be DLC for RE2. The game director for RE3 remake, I believe, said that if he knew going in it was going to be released as a full game, he would have added more content.
No way they would remove one of the most iconic parts of the original game. I bet he's gonna be revealed in a later trailer in a dramatic fan service shot.
This year has been so good for me when it comes to gaming, and especially towards remakes. With Sega's House of the Dead 1&2 getting remakes with the first one being pretty good, and Max Payne 1 and 2 getting remakes by their ORIGINAL studio and not Rockstar and now this? This year just keeps getting better than ever.
What's funny it's that I was playing through the max payne trilogy when the remakes got annouced and now I'm playing through re4 and a remake is annouced
Definitely happy as hell they're going with his 3.5 design. Always preferred the poofy bomber jacket over what we got in the final version of RE4 lol. And the best part is, if this game's anything like the RE2 Remake and RE3 Remake, we should be able to change his outfit at any point in the game, being able to FINALLY wear the jacket through the whole game lol.
I honestly hope they take as many liberties with this remake as possible. The OG RE4 is so good and has held up so well that I’d rather have a new experience with this remake instead of being extremely faithful to the original.
Not only that but its quite possibly the best opportunity to reimagine such a game, considering how accessible the original is. It'll be on ps5, Xbox Series X and PC as well alongside the remake.
I'm just hoping nothing gets cut this time. Because Half of RE2 was missing in RE2R, so y'know... That complaint about RE3 is valid but it can also be levelled at 2.
These are exactly the kinds of videos I’ve been looking for. The hype of this game is absolutely unreal for me. This has been my favorite game since I was like 7, I’m 23 now and this is the first time I get to experience a *remake* of a game that I actually know really, really well. The fact that there is a fanbase like this makes it so much more exciting because I get to watch things like this and talk about it. I absolutely cannot wait for the next trailer or screenshots or a demo or anything. I can’t wait.
As much as I don't want anything cut, I'm all for limiting the island in favor for the village and castle. I've beaten RE4 like 10 times and it's always a dread playing through the island, the quality just isn't there compared to the other areas.
Cutting things out should NEVER happen. Shinji did it right. Have everything a ADD to it, if something wasn't that good (island) than leave it all in but do it BETTER. Keep it all and ADD to it. I fear capcom will screw this up.
I'm very excited at the possibility of having a playable section as each of the main side characters, Like Ashley as a prologue of sorts which ends in her getting captured and taken to the village church, Ada is pretty much a given at some point but I'm most excited about playing as Luis inside the castle before he gets killed, I hope he gets a bigger role in the game since I've always liked his character a lot.
I sure hope this all comes to fruition. I never understood why we had to play as Ashley rather than Luis. Her section is the only part of the original I didn't like.
@@ZenMonkeyGod I liked Ashley's section in the Gamecube release due to the suplex bug, after they took that out in subsequent re-releases, it made that part way less enjoyable.
@@GFMarine I had to check and see. That's hilarious. I never owned it on Ganecube, only PS2. I hope playing as her is more user friendly this time around!
I really think it’s possible this game is reimagined in a similar way to RE6 (different campaigns, different styles). If nothing else, we’re likely getting 3 different perspectives and play styles (Leon, Ashley, Ada). It’s not much of a reach to think each character could tackle a different gameplay style (action, hide & seek, stealth). Village also did this with the houses being different stylistically, on top of Chris leaning way more in to the action FPS.
Completely agree with you, RE4 is my absolute favourite with RE2 remake being a close second. One thing I hope is left in is the chicken eggs 🥚 especially the gold ones lol Another that would be awesome would be translated subtitles for the Ganados, cause they had some funny lines when you know what they are saying. Other things I'm looking forward to are Nick's performance as this Leon, so happy they kept his gorgeous face model from RE2. Also our good friend, Merchant, the giants (bet they are gonna be terrifying), Salazar boss fight, the chainsaw sisters... So much to list lol bring on March!
I'm one of those newbie RE players who only got into the games with the remakes, and let me tell you, your breakdowns of these trailers and the games gives me so much more appreciation for them. I didn't experience the originals, but hearing how much they mean to you and your takes on how they should influence the remakes is always amazing. You help me feel hype for a game I know very little about. Thank you so much for helping this newbie enjoy the series so much more.
As a massive RE fan who happens to be from Spain, one of my hopes for this remake would be Capcom using actual Spanish actors for the classic villagers line, in the original they all sound more Latin American which always bugged me. Can any native English speaker confirm if Luis' accent sounds more Latin American or Spanish?
I actually like slowly knifing enemies on the ground rather than insta stomping them. It's better if there's a chance for them to come up so you're always pressured to continue knifing.
Kinda sucks when there's a group of them and you're trying to knife one before the others gang up on you. Or maybe some people enjoy that tension as it's kind of a horror-game thing? I dono
@@jmarra07 To each their own I guess. But yeah, it's all about the pressure which makes it better. The player is supposed to find a way to counter the ganging up. Although too much pressure isn't good but with the knives, it's a must for horror games, I'd say. Personally I'm not so fond of stalker type of enemies. Like, okay, Mr X can appear and hunt you, and I'm fine with that and it's a good thing but he hunts for too long that it's interfering with exploration because I always end up scared lol. Then again, that isn't bad and it could be avoided if I knew the map properly but usually I end up at the same place because I'm not sure where to run and in turn I constantly meet Mr X and end up even more confused and tense. For me I'd add the option to add notice stickers on our in game map to help us in our escape. I doubt they will ever implement it though.
@@projectfear22 You might want to give the original versions a try, cause the stalker types can't follow you through doors or up ladders, and the layout is mostly the same, so when you go back to the remakes, you know where to run and hide?
Realistically he should just stomp them to finish it quickly, or one quick knife attack, but can you imagine finding Leon just slicing up a person on the ground until they die lol
@@MrLachapell Yeah I get it, but often times gameplay beats realism. That's why we love Crash and Medievil so the tension created during repetitive slices as you watch other enemies approach is a good thing for survival horror.
First of all: NEEEEERRRRRD!!! 😆 But secondly, that's what I seriously love about you and this channel. I wish I had that kind of love and passion for... well... ANYTHING! Thank you, for putting out these videos and can't wait for your deep-dive once it releases!
I have this sneaking suspicion that the island is going to be redesigned the most unlike the village and castle that will probably just get higher details and more design added and Im completely fine with that especially if it means less crossbow enemy's lol.
@@strepsillover9112 I wouldn't say it was horrible but the part that really sucked was when the chopper came in for backup, that and everything after was just not enjoyable. The regenerators were fun because it felt more horror based and they were an actual threat unlike the crossbows which are just annoying threats, and the part were Ashley drove the vehicle wasn't great either.
If I were Capcom I'd just cut the island entirely, replace it with 2-3x more village/castle. Maybe put in a new section in the surrounding woods, since Leon doesn't have to be stuck on a footpath now like the original. There's simply nothing redeeming about the island, no good reason to include it over simply having more of the definitely good areas. And we saw what Dev 1 did with Heisenberg's factory... they've done good work on everything else, but I don't trust them to make the island fun.
@@aceflibble Well, the island is the only part of the remake that's up in the air and I think it would be weird to have the content from island shoehorned into village or castle. I don't think they'd remove the regenerators, and they still need some lore path to removing the plagas from Ashley and Leon in the 3rd act of the game. The island or something akin to a research base that the cult operates is probably how they'll handle it.
I still can't believe this is real... It feels like yesterday when i was a kid and played RE4 for the first time. My god this is just too good... Also we will have the next gen patches for RE2R, RE3R and RE7 to make the wait less painful. Such a good time to be a Resident Evil fan.
Unlike certain older games, the original RE4 is far more accessible compared to Silent Hill 1-3, and original RE 1-3. So, in this case were if one doesn't like the RE4 Remake, "the original is ALWAYS there for you to enjoy" angle perfectly applies. While, I also feel original RE4 still holds up very well in comparison to modern 3rd person shooters, I also welcome the remake, because hey, it's absolutely wonderful having 2 versions of one of the greatest games ever made. ;-)
It's really understandable how Leon would know Ada is involved with Wesker and know who he is. This takes place years after 2 and Code Veronica. Claire has also been feeding information to Leon the whole time part of this confirmed in Code Veronica. It's also not completely out of the way for him to join the secret service (not that hard to apply and no degree needed lol) and then from that point do extensive research on Umbrella between Claire and Chris
Love this vid you put into words how I feel about this game it’s what started the love of resident evil games for me and my favorite character Leon! I’m way hyped and hope the remake does the original proud!
Funny thing about the Village Chief, When RE4 was first coming out back in the day, given his look I thought he was going to be an actual Mr. X Tyrant, but left for years without Umbrella's control or instructions and was able to develop his own mind. Was kind of disappointed that it was just coincidence that he looked similar.
I replay Resident Evil 4 probably every year or two and my takeaway is always "Man I love the gameplay and the story is interesting but I just wish they went deeper with it." I've always wanted more Luis, more dialogue between Leon and Ashley, and like you mentioned more of a reaction when Ada pops back into the picture. It really seems like that's what we're getting and I'm excited. Also we're totally getting a Lady Dimitrescu cameo in some form or another. I can feel it!
Having played 7 and 4 in VR, I feel like Resident Evil is the perfect franchise for it! Really excited, though I’m mostly just impatient for that Village DLC 😭
I wonder if Ethan and Leon will ever meet in a future original RE game. There's no connection between them besides Umbrella, but there are similarities in their story and journey. It would be interesting if Capcom tied their story arcs together somehow, but RE9 is meant to be Ethan's finale so it would have to be in that one.
I have a hunch that there will be some additions to the story/lore to tie the events of RE4 to Village. Having played both in quick succession, I was really surprised at just how much the Cadou has in common with Las Plagas, and there are a lot of visual similarities in late game enemies, like when Chris faces Urias with all the tentacles coming out of his back. Or even Miranda's Spider Form looks shockingly similar to Saddler's final form. I strongly suspect that Las Plagas will be re-jigged to be some kind of off-shoot of the Megamycete. The mysterious emblem looks shockingly similar to the emblems seem throughout Village, too!
I really like the redesigns so far. Wonder how they will handle the Merchant and his iconic lines. I'm all favor to get rid of Qtes in the cutscenes and the boulder. For me, is really anonying/frustrating to die because you pressed the wrong button or didnt mashed your soul out hard enough. Great video and analysis as always Suzi.
You’re the only person that’s covered this trailer that has seen all of these details and actually thought of plausible things that might be added we had a lot of opinions in common and I’ll be subbing to keep up with your content it’s hard to find people this passionate about RE4
Great video!! I really hope that the game is a tad longer with more of the story incorporation, and i hope they do Mr. Merchy justice. That NPC is one of the most exciting bits for me, and I hope Leon says at the end of the game to Ashley "Hold on tight sweetheart". That would be everything.
I am curious to see what the parasite forms for the villagers and the Zealots are gonna look like, as well as the mutations for the bosses, like Mendez, Salazar, The U-3, (if It’s in the game.) Krauser, and of course Saddler. Also I have a theory about Ashley’s part in the story. I think that when Ashley is running through the village all by herself, that might be a chance for her to contact her father so he can send help to go get her. Because how else would the President know that his kid is in a remote part of Spain? That little plot hole in RE4’s story being unanswered, always bothered me.
One thing that would be really awesome is if they have an unlockable costume where you play as Leon and Ashley with their mutated plaga forms. I've always wondered what they'd look like, and pondered how different it'd be than Krauser's. Also, give those forms some awesome moves like Krauser's re4 ability in mercenaries mode. That would be so awesome.
RE4 is my favorite game of all time, beat it on most versions of it's releases, well over a million points in all Mercenary modes, 100% completion with all secret scenes/deaths etc... and everything I've seen so far of the remake makes me so excited, I don't really want a 1-1 perfect remake with updated graphics, I want enough to make it feel the same but with new content, a retelling of the story.
This video showed me so much that I missed from the trailer. I'm so excited for this. I never aged the original games but I've watched so many videos from you and others that I feel like I had to chance to experience them too.
I LOVE your videos! I’m very excited for this release and hope it’s on par (or better than) with RE2 Remake. I’m crossing my fingers for Ada’s story to be retained and expanded on too!
I love the beta look of Leon and Ashley from 3.5 or the hookman demos. I'm hoping we get some of the same weapons like the Sig P226 with laser. The Deagle Leon one handed. And the Ruger P95 that was his original starting handgun for the trial discs

@@RobertEdwinHouse9 Your are spamming to bring out hate for a remake nobody has played yet. The chances of being great and RE3R levels are equally high, complaining won´t do much, only waiting.

I got sucked into toxic bs online a few years ago and finally realized I was addicted to the adrenaline rush you feel from it. So take a break ,you'll feel better
@ashy Agreed, RE3R is just a somewhat incomplete RE3, it´s not even terrible, just a little bit trimmed down, shame about Nemesis´s behaviour getting watered down as well, but still, the original is still there and Code Veronica was a better game than 3 imo
I hated the island so I'm hoping they make huge changes to that. One of my questions is whether it will have new game plus like the original. The remakes of 2 and 3 didn't but they never did in the originals either.
I can still see him being confident in this game. Now his confidence is him setting up his mindset to be that way to make it different from Raccoon city incident. Also he would still have confidence because of his training. Hopefuly they would find balance in him being cocky and taking things seriously. I just hope his not as serious as he is in RE6 because his one liners maybe cheesy but it made him charming a main protagonist.
I hope there's a playable section of Louise in this remake as well, on top of that I'd be happy if expanded Ashley sections either emphasized getting away from the monsters better, or just let her use a few improvised weapons.
While the village definitely seems to be faithful, I'm actually hoping and wanting some sections to be completely overhauled. The best thing about resident evil is when your presented with a metroidvania type environment that you must navigate and work through. The Spencer mansion and RPD still being the best examples the series ever had. I'm hoping the castle is remade like this rather than the mostly linear design of the original. Like many bad trends that started in RE4, a more linear design was definitely one of them (and no, slight backtracking doesn't mean much). The island definitely needs an overhaul since it had the most action and least horror. More stuff like regenerators and less machine gun ganados basically... Lastly, I'm all for introducing a stalker enemy to the game since there were always a few enemies in 4 that could fit the role. I love this signature in RE games, and imo Mr. X and Lady D were highlights in recent years.
The action needs to be the vocal point in the remake. RE4 is one of the most revolutionary and iconic action horror games of all time. It's a core part of the games identity. Scrapping all that for survival horror turns the game into something it's not
@@chrismoore4724 the action is what ruined the series for years. If that's what you're into, whatever. But the game was originally supposed to be more horror anyway. Anyone who knows the history of the 3.5 version would know that. True fans of resident evil and survival horror will be pleased with the course-correction...
@@paulseidler1644 "True fans will be pleased with a course correction" way to be pretentious. Thinking that people who loved RE4 aren't "true fans" just because RE4 isn't a pure survival horror game is ludicrous. RE4 didn't ruin the franchise, that honor goes to 5 and 6, but rather saved it. RE was growing stale by the tike RE4 came out, and RE4 not only revolutionized the series, but also third person action games as we know it. A remake has to he faithful to the source material. How would you like it if RE2 was remade as a action game?
@@chrismoore4724 again, the game was originally supposed to be more horror but then changed course to be more action. Fans have wondered for years what the original ideas would have been like and the 3.5 version has become infamous to the fanbase. The back half of re4 was completely ridiculous and represented the death of the series until re7. All of those bad ideas present in 4 directly led to 5 and 6. To say they didn't is to be completely delusional.
@@paulseidler1644 They are definitely inspired by alpha RE4 stuff + RE2:R, I would like to see a bit more interconnected areas too. I liked RE4, but the level design wasn't my favourite part like in previous RE games.
In Spanish, r's are only rolled when it is a double r, or the r is at the start of the word. For "Sera", you'd just want a 'tapped' r. Anyway I loved this video, it got me so hyped!
I'd love to see Verdugo's section expanded, make him like Mr X etc where he actively hunts you around the level. Even better, make his AI like the Alien from Isolation.
One of the things I like about a lot about Capcom's RE remakes is them retconning the stories to be more cohesive with each other. Even though not everyone may like/agree with that direction, I always felt the more recent RE sequels got more and more disconnected from first four RE games
Speaking of that, even RE1 Remake started to retroactively add more connective tissue, such as Lisa Trevor being introduced with ties to the G-Virus and Nemesis Parasite, plus that William Birkin file referencing Alexia Ashford.
RE4 was the most disconnected entry in the series. It has absolutely nothing to do with anything we'd seen before, yet it's still arguably the best RE. Then 7 did the exact same thing and once again was a hit. Even Revelations really has nothing to do with anything else, plot-wise, aside from featuring Jill and Chris.
Definitely agree with everything you said, Mikami himself recently stated that he made the story in only 3 months, the OG RE4 lacked of story, narration, ties with previous entries, and horror elements, now they have the chance to fix this damn game which brought the saga completely out of its tracks.
An RE4 Remake wishlist: - Do something with the Spanish setting. Wait, I mean "Europe". Tbh, Spain was always a weird choice, its not exactly an innately "horror" setting like central and eastern europe are, with their history of atrocities, monster folklore and horror fiction. I'm not really sure what they CAN do, but Blasphemous managed to turn Spanish culture into something grimdark so it's worth a shot. Maybe lean into Francisco de Goya imagery. - Make Ganados smarter and scarier. People really liked that they were an evolution of the zombies, so this could be expanded on. Have them co-ordinate, give them creepier behaviour like the Hybrids in System Shock 2 who desperately try to warn you as they are forced to attack. - Instead of having a single "pursuer" enemy, have entire mobs of pursuer Ganados. This would really progress the mechanic from RE2R and RE3R and add to the "trapped with an evil cult" vibe, although it depends on how open the level design turns out to be. - Expand the escort mechanics. People complain way too much about escorting Ashley, and the escort mechanics should be added to, rather than cut down. If there are pursuers, maybe Ashley could serve as a decoy or be part of more in-depth hiding gameplay until the mob passes. - Mention the consequences of Umbrella's collapse and the Raccoon city disaster. If bioterrorism has gone global, there should be some more mention of that and how every police force now needs BOW training. - Give Saddler, Krauser and Mendez more character. Saddler was just a generic foreign world-domination supervillain, Krauser seemed like a generic power-hungry enforcer and Mendez pretty much had no character. There's a lot of room there for better motivations and backstories, maybe something tragic or sympathic. - Include a section where Leon is trapped in a new location, hallucinating from the effects of the parasite, and stalked by a unique Ganados with a hook... - Get rid of the Salazar Gundam. Maybe just replace it with a creepy medieval automaton as part of a puzzle. - Change the military base section, it's just too shlocky. Gun-wielding enemies aren't scary or fun in Resident Evil. Perhaps they could replace this with an extended cultist section, a swamp filled with Novistador bugs, a larger sequence with Del Lago, or even introduce a new faction. - Give Saddler a better boss fight. - Set up Wesker's return for something more significant. Hopefully, the remakes are going to retcon all the dumb plot elements in RE5 and 6, and that should start here. RE lore has always been a complete mess, but the Remakes are an opportunity to tidy it up. - Include a scene where Luis almost drops the antidote and goes "Wow, that would have been pretty dumb". - Include a scene where the Merchant says "Ah, I know someone who will pay a Duke's ransom for this...". - Come up with a lore explanation once-and-for-all why BOWs can suddenly grow their biomass exponentially. I don't care if it's a dumb answer, I just want an answer. - If Mike is still in the game, give him some character too. - Don't forget the ballistics.
I agree with most of your points. I have heard, obviously rumors, that Krauser isn't going to have as much of a role but I'm fine with that as he always felt out of place. Yeah, I know people like the knife fight but I kind of hated it, I know I'm in the minority, but it just felt so out of place. Give that time that Krauser had to another character.
I might be in the minority, but it's cool that they are adding more horror elements but I still want RE4 to be an action based game where Leon feels like a badass to show his experience with outbreaks and not feel like RE2 whereas it was understandable zombies were powerful because of their inexperience with such a scenario.
You actually made your point halfway through that long meandering sentence. I hope you don’t talk how you type - you’ll run out of air😂. I always thought the “badass” stuff was in service of the action. Sets the tone without boring you. Back in 2005 people were actually fed up of the traditional RE1-3 fixed camera (even me) and slow, tank controls, especially as gaming technology was leaping forward between PS1 to PS2: arguably the biggest leap forward
While I still think this remake isn't as needed as the ones for the original RE trilogy, I love the idea of having another version of RE4 that's grittier and more horror focused (plus the modern controls and graphics are a nice bonus to me). And if it comes out and people aren't fans of it, there's always the original classic that's able to be revisited in all its campy over the top glory. Regardless, I'm interested to see what they do in this one for sure
What i would like to see on this remake, 1) Claire cameo, at the end león said they should stick together 2) endings depending on your infección level, similar to outbreak 3) León strugling with ptsd from the incident on racoon City 4) another Ashly segment, so she can grow a bit more as a character
I love the playful yet threatening that message that you just said at the end it's really lovely how resident evil obtain so many fans throughout these years
Best coverage of the trailer I’ve seen! Thanks! I am quite hyped about the remake but ugh, I wish they would’ve kept Saddler original voice… Still, looks it’s gonna be great!
I suspect the new story elements are going to be things that'll link back to the las plagas reveal in Village. Also I really think the Salazar gundam will return but it'll be a very different thing. I can easily see it being something like a puzzle segment rather than a weird break in an action set piece that then ramps up to chaos.
This is first video of yours I’ve seen, but it certainly won’t be the last. I love your super insightful observations, ideas about the RE series, and editing. Congrats on gaining a new and excited subscriber!
Imagining Leon's infection near the end having a section like FF7's part where Cloud almost kills Aerith and literally anything the player does makes him lift the sword higher and swing; that Ada choke out cutscene from the original but interact-able. Maybe even a short section where you switch to Ada or Ashley and have to run from Leon and find a way to restrain him and get him the cure.
This overview pointed a lot of stuff that I missed from the trailer. I got weirdly hyped seeing the zealots again. :P I would love it if Luis is merely wounded instead of killed, then rescued later on. That way, he could still be benched in the storyline, but have a happier ending. He deserves it 👏 I would love to have The Mercenaries back ❤
I was wishing they wouldve kept the og voice actors like for Luis. Just how he sounded was iconic. Especially the first time you see where he asked Leon for a smoke that was a classic moment.
Classic horror trope they should include for a cutscene: Leon is in hiding from the villagers, Hunnigan calls Leon on the coms at the worst time alerting the villagers and entering you into a battle.
