A more detailed look at the Auscision NR class locomotive I picked up in Australia recently. It's quite different how it is wired up internally compared to typical UK locomotives, and how the lighting uses functions on a DCC decoder.

I'm currently running NR25 (N scale), with Indian Pacific eagle logo's fitted straight out of the box. The sound this loco makes when starting up the engine is superb. Ditch lights are automatically activated to flash when sounding the horn. It also has a working bell sound that is set to Function 19.

Great to see NR class in the UK. The Auscision models are world-class. Mike HO Australia

A good review of a great model, the sound included version is also spectacular. Thanks for the vid.

Good tip for saving kadee springs is to apply a small dab of super glue to one of the couplers kadee spring points. That way if the spring comes adrift you shouldn’t have the spring shoot off into the abyss

Looks nice and so much better inside than some of the UK stuff I have seen. DCC does look good but what you were showing on the configuration screen was like erm yeah showing a caveman how to use a smart phone me being the caveman lol. 😂 looking forward to the next vid(s)

I much prefer the "Just connect each light to a new function output, and set it up in the chip to do what you need" approach of this. I looked at the new tool Bachmann 37 recently, and they've gone completely the other way -- large collection of electronics intended to ensure you never have to set a CV -- presumably precisely because enough people respond like you just did :). Downside is it needs six function output pins to control four lights, to achieve things the decoder could easily have done in software with a little configuration. And it didn't work, creating a (to me at least) much more difficult debugging job...

@@DongitsModelRailway Definitely agree with that. I don't understand why some of the manufacturers have to over complicate things over here with how they do things these days. Must be a sign of me getting old 🙃

Excellent thank you for your time explaining in detail. I have the same NR coming and only have a 12volt DC setup. Question will it be o.k to run on old 12 volt DC supply for now?

Yes, it will run on DC straight out of the box.
