OK. Let's agree that 95% of romance anime are all most the same thing. Same story, same characters, same events, only the names are different. I kind of feel like there is a list of certain rules that every romance anime author has to follow. And those who don't follow these rules are the remaining 5% left.
the ones i truly despise are the nagataro clones, e.g. boy gets "teased" by girl (more like bullied) for 100-500 chapters then finally confesses, n then another 100 chapters, very boring
For sure. They're kinda like isekais really, most of em are cookie cutter junk food, but hell even if it's junk food I'm still gonna eat it. When you do land on that 5% though it's something special

Just discovered this channel today. Dude's got some good jokes that hit me right in the giggles. Some fall flat, but the jokes are paced so that even if one doesn't tickle your humorous, the next one might a few seconds later. I'm a sub now.

Great video, Lunar. I wanted to ask you, have you heard of ' Bungo Stray Dogs? ' It is an anime about gangs and the mafia with supernatural abilities. One of the types of anime that each season is better than the previous one. Season 5 of it is being released this season. And I was hoping you would review it when season 5 ends.
@@LunarEquinox If you are going to watch it. There are a few things about it that I have to tell you: First, the number of episodes for each season. Season 1. 12 episodes Season 2. 12 episodes Season 3. 12 episodes Season 4. 13 episodes Season 5. 11 episodes And there is also an OVA episode that you have to watch after season 2. Second, don't judge the anime from Season 1, because this is the weakest season among all the other seasons. With season 2, I promise you, the level of the anime will change completely.
@@LunarEquinox Hey lunar, have you heard of 'Inukai-san's dog'? It is a great series about a dog that has supernatural abilities. He can think like a human. He helps Inukai and her friends on several quests that they have to complete. I would personally reccomend watching it with family, especially if they are avid dog-lovers. It isn't related to 'Bungo stray dogs' despite the similar name, but it is equally as good, if not better.

I don't disagree with most of your picks but Oshi No Ko and A Silent Voice are not romances. If they were, then any anime which features two people who like each would be considered romances, which is not the case. I think when most people think of romance anime, they'd probably think of "Horimiya", "Fruits Basket", "Kaguya-Sama" or "Your Lie in April", where two central characters are sort of on 'equal-footing' in both screen time and their own thoughts.
Can't believe he did not even bring out or even hint at mysterious girlfriend x. That show is a masterpiece. You should watch it if you haven't and i am saying that to everyone.
Haven't watched Love is War yet! I've heard it's one of the best anime ever! Currently, my favourite is Horimiya because of the simplicity and realism portrayed... and because of it's humor and natural, not forced conversation between ALL the characters, conversations modified in a way that you would definetely talk with your friends! I like that it doesn't soley focus on the main characters and gives time to interract with others as well! I also love that missunderstandings happen and the comunicate the issue right after, and even in the tantrums and couple fights, it seems real and simple! I also like the balance between comedic and serious moments! For me, Horimiya is more of a Slice of Life anime with romance elements thrown in. It doesn't feel like pure romance, more like a sitcom, and that's the beauty of it!

I feel like you missed wholesome romance that’s pretty straightforward honestly, but you thought it would take 40 episodes to get together but it only took 10. Also Shojo does romance best, but specifically manga, because manga is better than anime.
I disagree with the manga is better than anime statement, it really depends on what you're watching/reading, some things are just better animated and some are better drawn.
I already watched it yosuga no sora which is yeah an ecchi anime and a visual novel adaptation with eroge content but it is about drama and incestuous romance so it is not surprised for me. And it may possible in real life events during the i forgot about the eras of the year.
@@LunarEquinox oh getting trauma from watching fiction from reality. This is a problem of the west your paying too much detail of every episodes. No wonder they explode all their comments in social media against Japanese animation. Well it is different pop culture and some customs/traditions in the east asia.
7:17 this is the most true statement I have seen in the top of my head tomoki from heavens lost property, clannad, dr3 anime monokuma, chaos head mc, daichi in devil survivor 2 anime and the one guy from oroun he always has to play the annoying one lol.
