***Unfortunately due to poor mold quality at the Moeller (Dometic) facility, our bait tank is unavailable for the foreseeable future. We are sorry for the inconvenience.*** Well, that sucks.
Great video. The builder of that tank probably knows more about bait tanks and keeping shad alive than anyone on the world. Rest assured that you bought the best tank available in that price range.
I like the design not so much on the price. I would guess there are lots of fishermen with cheaper ways. Love your show, stay safe and keep the kids learning
Massive video brother! The 'small' tank on my shad boat is 100 gallon, but I use one of these Striper Soup tanks on my little puddlejumper and it's a badass little tank. Accept NO substitutes or bad copies!
Nice review...I built a homemade version(uploaded a video on it recently) with the Danco aerator and bilge.Got idea here on RU-vid.One issue I found was heat generated by pump made the water get too warm.Minnows and shiners more apt to die from the warm water.I also adapted mine to run with a 110/12 volt inverter so I would not have to run it off my Marine battery. You may want to look into that.Pump was overkill for the small barrel I used.
I seen that. I should have picked some up at cat con. I’ll have to get with him and get some. I like how it comes in spray bottle. Thanks for watching.
Very nice little tank. Looks like it'll fit perfectly in my little Tracker Topper 1542. I've seen them online but never a video featuring them so I appreciate the video. And just in case this helps somebody, powdered coffee creamer works for foam too. What I do is get the little packs from gas station coffee stations and keep them in my tackle box.
Great video straightforward honest and informative glad you are putting out more than just casting a line and waiting. Don’t get me wrong I like seeing you guys reel in the big ones too!
Worth every penny. I fish the striper run yearly on the Hudson river and this is by far the best system that I've used to keep my herring alive. Excellent filtration. Even when filling up when the river is muddy it comes out clear as can be.
Really appreciate you taking the time to make these videos, I will be getting a tank just based on your video and I will be sure to let the folks know you sent me. Thanks again
I have a rod holder setup similar to yours and was wondering how you installed the bait board ? To pop on and off the rack . And what did you use . Thanks!
Great video man! I have the same bait tank but just the standard issue. Since I already have most of the parts laying around I think I'll soup up mine. Looks relatively easy to build. All I need too know is what size standpipe they used?
Guys and gals. Get a cheap cooler, add an aerator, use lake or creak water, and change half of it every two days. You don’t need a filter. Make sure you have a large capacity cooler or bucket. If it is hot; put a frozen water bottle in the water. Feed the fish with aquarium food. Cheap and easy way to keep bait fish for weeks. Just be sure you have a container that holds plenty of water for your bait. At least 5 gallons per dozen if not more. Aerators help but toxins build up.
Thank for the info on the tank was wondering we fish up around Vevay IN and Madison on the Ohio river was wondering where abouts you fish on the Ohio my son and I do ok in these areas but nothing but where still on that hunt.
Im thinking someone could go buy themselves one of those ice chests with 2 half lids, get a dannco venturi, get yourself a bilge pump, some pvc and little ingenuity cut you a hole through one of the lids and build something like seen here. And it would be insulated. Walmart has an 18 gallon with the dual lids for 58 bucks, the venturi for 30 buck, your choice of bilge pumps from 20-60 bucks id guess then getting some pvc which im not sure of the price but what you'd need to build that would be pretty cheap but im pretty sure you could do one up for under half the cost of the one in the video. The one in the video is pretty nice though, I hadn't ever priced them so I when he said quality vs budget I still wasn't expecting the price. Great video Hagen
Insight from a fish hobbyist. Not sure how long you have had the tank if only a week or two go buy some fritz quick start from a pet store. It will get the beneficial bacteria in the filters. Try to always keep fish in the tank. If you don’t have fish throw some smaller pieces of food of sort to keep the cycle going. Lastly take 50 percent of the water out about every week and replace with fresh. You will keep shad for alive a lot longer! I see so many people after a trip shut the tank down which kills all the bacteria.
It is just a matter of keeping the filter media cycled. Since this is battery operated I would have a home bait tank and move the filter media into that tank to keep it cycled. Then when you go fishing just grab the media and put back into the filter. Simple as a rubber tote and cheap fish filter. Put some goldfish in there as a pet to help keep it cycled.
Why don't you use constant flow with overflow back into the river?? I took a bilge pump and mounted it to the back of the boat hooked hoses to inside of the tank and pump. Then just run a bigger hose at the level you want it to fill!!! No filters and control temperature!!!
Honestly I have caught 90% of all my flatheads on cut bait. But only fresh cut bait. I wanted a new tank just to keep bait alive over the weekend instead of putting on ice.
Hagen, I am building a bait tank from a blank Moeller tank I found at a reasonable price. I have a couple of questions if you have time to discuss. Thanks.
It`s a nice looking tank but a little pricey for me . Here in Florida the most I fish with beside artificial is Minnows so it`s not beneficial to me . Liked the video .
They have improved the filter system since this video and the price has increased some but here is a link, thank you for watching 👍 stripersoup.com/wpress/bait-tanks/#!/Striper-Soup-Moeller-M-26-Dual-Hex/p/41253126/category=6630113
stripersoup.com/wpress/bait-tanks/#!/Striper-Soup-Moeller-M-26-Dual-Hex/p/41253126/category=6630113 They stoped making these tanks for a while but they are back now with a few improvements. Price is now a little more. Thanks for watching
Man ole kayak catfish is rippen lips on cut bait (flathead) u better get out in the water. Haven seen the box that upload your bait(fish) and close the lid and just cut bait? They’re all the same size. It was cool looking it has a box about a foot and half long with 6 notch’s and fill with shad and close lid and just cut in the slots
Excellent video as always!! Thank you!! Does anyone have a contact number for Stiper Soup? The number in the video is disconnected or out of service.. (And I do not have Facebook).. Help would be appreciated, thanks all!!
I agree. 450$ is a lot of money but it is around half of the price of all the other brand bait tanks that are set up ready to go. Thanks for watching 👍
I understand you can make your own cheaper. I’ve done it. But for someone wanting to buy a complete setup there’s not much out there for 400$.Thanks for watching and good fishing👍
