Being grabbed by them and mashing the bumpers and triggers will get you out of it faster with no damage. It also helps with with any other grab attack in the game (other than most bosses). Also find those Scadutree fragments and level it up. Major help.
There's only some amount of grabs that doesn't work with the mashing, like Messmer grab, furnace golem, Winter Lanter (this one for obvious reasons), but grabs like the Moth man's and the things around the fingers ruins can do less dmg when you mash. Tbh it's the first time I see those meat dudes do some dmg and that scream attack, even when they do the grab always pass through me and do zero dmg and didn't know if they could be really deadly
