A Day in My Life: Preserving Basil, Buying Houseplants & Making Pesto Pasta for Dinner! 

I lost my Father a month ago, and it's been a very difficult time. I just wanna say thank you. Your videos have always been such a calming thing for me to watch. Flies are such a nuisance. I remember an elderly lady who I used to go and have afternoon tea with. Well, she suggested that if you open the window and turn off the lights then say to the fly could you please leave as I didn't invite you here and you are not welcome. She swore by this method 😂 though it didn't work for me. 💕

I put chopped basil into ice cube trays, then cover with olive oil - freeze. When frozen, pop out into baggies.. makes more of a serving portion

Dear Kevin, Today's video is "The Bomb!" That means that you have out-done yourself, a really big compliment, you were even more precise than usual! It looks like yall are having nice weather over there where you're at. And the "drive" to the store was even more beautiful than ever. The back ground music was special too. Trust me, in this video, I can tell, that you will not be "under sold"! Meaning, that you are always going to maintain your position as first!! Every move you make is carefully measured, and seemingly premeditated, and exact! It is a turn-on. And I did notice all of the special things, and treats that you know I like, that mean alot to me!! I felt like I needed to "excuse" myself! Kevin, you scare me and excite me at the same time.

You can also make basil butter: simply soften the butter and then add salt, Worcester sauce, chopped basil and chopped flat leaf parsley and mix all together.

Hi Kevin. Learned lot today. I've never thought of basil salt thank you. My mother gave me a prayer plant when I was young. It sat by my bed many years always closing at nightfall. One day after many years it bloomed pretty delicate flowers. I was so surprised. It smelled like sweet perfume.

Love to see your gardening skills and cooking Kevin. Your house is so peaceful which is a beautiful thing. I live in an apartment block and get lots of noise from the pubs downstairs until late your videos are peaceful and soothing so I put my air pods in and turn up the volume to drown out the noise and listen to you. ❤

Making the basil salt. You might like to try basil mayonaise for your summer sandwiches. Its especially delicious on turkey & chicken. No recipe. Just mix basil pesto and your favorite mayonaise to your taste. I adore your videos. You have such a calming presence.❤

Dear Kevin, before you heat your oven, remove the racks you don't need and those you do need cover them with aluminium foil so your racks stay clean, prefenting them to get dirty is the best option IMHO ;-) Take care and stay safe, Vleer from the Netherlands. 🙂

Love the idea of basil salt; will be giving that a try. I soak my oven racks in dishwasher tablets. They work very well, too. Nice houseplants. I always think plants make a nice home.

When I make my basil paste, I pop in some salt too. Then put it all in a jar m, topped with oil to prevent spoilage. I use a teaspoon at a time n keep the basil covered in oil at all times. Mine keeps for years in the fridge. Tasty on fresh tomato slices on toast. I LIVE watching your channel, Kevin. Biggest of hugs to you.

Acre homestead just did several herb salts, she did one cup of compacted herbs to one cup of salt, processed them in food processor and spread it over a tray to dry out for several days and then into a airtight jar so you can just use it anytime you want herbs and salt in a dish, she did, basil , chives, coriander and parsley in separate jars.

I love the beautiful music you played for your plants. Cleaning the oven is my least favorite task. I definitely want to try the simple green for my oven racks. I use my self-cleaning oven feature on my oven and I spot clean stubborn areas with the Dawn dish detergent concoction that is so popular these days-it works nicely; however, most of the time, the self-cleaning oven feature gets the job done because I never let a dirty oven get out of hand!!! My favorite houseplants are the Jade Tree, Bleeding Heart and African Violets.
