These day in the life videos are what made me decide this is what I want to do. I use to do bookkeeping for my father’s mechanic business when my kids were little. It was all by hand, old school pen and paper. I got burned out that way so I’m so interested to see how Quick Books would change things up for me. I also did bookkeeping for my own hairstylist business every year, was a lot easier than my father’s business and still by paper. How much do you think this will differ having everything online? Thanks for the openness and honesty changing my career at 38 is so scary, I have been doing hair for so long but after moving to a new state I no longer want to work on people.

You mentioned you have to wait on getting bank and credit card statements from clients. Is that because their banks don't connect to QB?

Yes, not all banks import their bank statements into QuickBooks

I'm so thankful for your content. I have two questions. 1. If you try not to be on your phone after 5pm do you have a work phone? I haven't started my business yet but I would like to do the same but I only currently have my personal phone. 2. How do you find time to go on vacation? You definitely don't go in vacation during the first 10 days of each month or during tax time, but how do you take a break with 60-70 clients?

1. I only have 1 phone, and I try not to look at it after 5 PM so that I can be more present with my family and limit my screen time. 2. You're right, I don't go on vacation, but if I did, I would probably bring my laptop and still work 1-3 hours every day.

I am wondering how we can categorize transactions on a daily or weekly basis if some of the clients don’t connect their banks to QBO or we just have to wait after the clients send bank statements and do all the bookkeeping process at the beginning of the month.

Almost all of my clients have their accounts connected to the QuickBooks bank feed

I wonder how many transactions do you do per client. 30 minutes seems too quick for your big client. Do you use a lot of robots/automation to make the process more efficient?

How do you quote your big client on the A/P and Bills payments transactions/services?

I live in the netherlands and I want to become a bookkeeper. I just lost my account payable job recently. I want to ask if you can help me to start my bookkeeping business.? My biggest fear is how to find clients and also I will like to have mentor who can guide me and stay with me for the first few months when I start my business and can help me at atleast for on-boarding the first client and do thier books for the first month?

My wife handles all food related chores/tasks. We share the workload around the house and each own our own tasks. We keep it simple so it doesn’t feel like we are constantly doing “chores”. We hire out time consuming upkeep as needed. -From my wife 🙂
