For clarification, my role is more similar to a school-based therapist, however, I am a licensed social worker and do social work-related tasks. Just wanted to provide some clarity as I've been told that school social workers have a slightly different role than school-based therapists. Either way, if you have a desire to go into the field of school social work, I believe this video will still help you. I hope this helps!

I'm so inspired by this.. I'm taking human services/ social work courses. I don't know where to begin . What type of social worker do I want to be? Or should I be licensed? Should I look for a job right now? and I don't have a car 😢.. I've been looking for jobs, but you have to have work experience 😕. I'm disabled, going at 34 yrs of age.. I never had a job before and I'm still stuck in college!! Any advice?

Hi Rotrice! Thank you for sharing your story. There’s a few things I could touch on but the main thing I would say is to not give up on yourself or make judgments on yourself due to temporary situations. There are plenty of work from home jobs (I’m sure even entry level ones). Look into case manager positions to start. Are you a LCSW? I'm surprised you're doing intakes and diagnostic assessments in the schools. I am a school social worker and we do not do those at my school/district.

Nope. My agency allows it due to being supervised.
